There should be an option to straight up turn off the engines for it to crash, maybe a red light will go off on the rocket when you click it.

I don't know, I follow the way you say to launch it, when I launch it half way through flight, The engine breaks off then the body of the rocket starts to break apart, and the explosive bit falls off so, it doesn't explode.

Also, this doesn't really work... I go full throttle, decouple, pitch up, and DOESN'T enjoy the flight. It doesn't fly for me
