I'm thinking of creating mods to make this compatible with customs eras such as Enlightenment and Future World
Dr. Bashir 26 Jun, 2019 @ 6:08am
This mod break my tech three, making it unscrollable :c

Considering the Nazis were evil eugenicist I'd more likely believe they developed efficient ways of spread cancer rather than curing it.
Mickel83 29 Jun, 2018 @ 1:57pm
Dr. Warburg had a cure for cancer during World War 2 in Nazi Germany. That was coverd up by our World Congres (United Nations).

I didn't test it yet, however does not look really op for me for the following reasons:

1. It is a late game change to food and happiness, it won't really affect that much the metagame.
2. Anything that need to be build through the world congress is already messed up because the congress of the game itself is already messed up.

RATLORD SUPREME, the cancer will do it for you

i have cancer pleas kill me
Zany_One_Pip 6 Dec, 2015 @ 10:39am
@ryanjames I'm aware of cancer since my dad died from it. But in-game the food bonus is a little odd since the game has you advance through medieval, renaissiance, and industrial times and those periods of history were not exactly known of sanitation and cleanliness. Theres things like the Black Plague, Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle", and many US Civil War deaths involve disease, even if someone was shot and isn't killed kill initally, the wound could get gangrenous and he dies.

I noticed that this causes some trouble when, I believe, used along with the Community Balance Patch. It seems to overwrite a tech/s already there and unless I use IGE to give myself the missing tech/s I can't advance the tech tree.

Also it seems that this is available nearly at the start of the game, I can look down the tech tree and see it available to research. Granted it's a crazy amount of turns but still.

@CDPlaya

Because cancers, one of the biggest killers in the western world have been eradicated, and thus many less people are dying, lots more are dying from general old age and the population rises quicker.
Frostblud 9 May, 2015 @ 8:12pm
I'm looking at this and the only critique that I have is... Cure for Cancer Wonder provides food boosts for every medical lab... I don't understand... It should instead provide a boost to science from all the knowledge gained from the extensive research needed to have gotten that achievement.

Great work Envoy, and as you wrote we can always edit the XML to fit our games.
Envoy  [author] 15 Feb, 2015 @ 5:33am
@Renesco I make mods that are fun for me to play, but sometimes others like a different style - please feel free to make changes to the XML to suit your playstyle.
Jo 14 Feb, 2015 @ 11:30am
I would like to use it, but it seems game breaking OP. If it was +1 food instead of +2, and the reward for first place was toned down a bit it would be better.
Not Oscar Wilde 31 Jan, 2015 @ 12:05pm
We should be researching induced pluripotent stem cells instead of embryonic stem cells. We'd cure cancer in no time, not to mention Alzheimer's, type 2 diabetes, etc.
Rootimus 16 Jan, 2015 @ 3:53pm
Thank-you
FaerFoxx 20 Sep, 2014 @ 2:36pm
It may be some kind of conflict with other mods I have installed, but for some reason this one messes up the tech tree so the scroll bar disappears and you cannot scroll to the right at all, and the techs that are post-ancient are all shifted down half off screen for some reason. I'd really like to use it, but it is impossible with the tree messed up. Is it a problem with something of mine and is there a possible fix?
Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra 9 Jul, 2014 @ 5:11pm
I agree with Endymion107, if you ever do an update in the future you should include atleast two runners up who contributed the second and third most would get a small bonus
T3mp0st 20 Jun, 2014 @ 1:02pm
if only it worked like this in real life....
Endymion 13 Jun, 2014 @ 10:22pm
This is rather nice, however I find it odd that only one person benefits from it. Seems to me if the entire world worked on a cure for cancer then it is unlikely that one nation would horde it and refuse to share.

Perhaps you could do the same as the other resolutions, where the winner gets the best reward and everyone else gets a lesser one? Like a building that cannot be built, only granted to the 2nd/3rd/whatever places which grants +1-2 happiness per city and +2-3 food per lab.
MileyMan1066 13 May, 2014 @ 11:50am
These Resolutions are seriously under-rated, and the represent some serioiusly under-cultivated opportunities for modders. Great mod, keep em coming!
Targonious 25 Feb, 2014 @ 11:17am
I don't know if it was in relation to other mods that I use, but when I enable this it takes away the tech tree scroller and I can't see past the beginning era. I can still research all tech.
Ranger8599 17 Feb, 2014 @ 4:14am
Can you make a Resolution for Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D. for BNW?
Opps 3 Nov, 2013 @ 12:35pm
this is extremely unbalanced. i just feel like "The winner takes it all!". research boost, golden age points, free scientists, and a new wonder adding tons of benefits.
Envoy  [author] 7 Oct, 2013 @ 2:50pm
@Houre That isn't how the system implemented by Firaxis works, though I do like the idea.
Hourhe_LePimp 6 Oct, 2013 @ 10:38am
Perhaps it should be a Science point contribution, instead of Production...
Seems like it makes more sense
glaagafragadu 17 Sep, 2013 @ 6:00pm
Ahh, this brings back the good old days when I was 7 and loved nothing more than sitting on my parent's Windows XP desktop and playing Civ II. Definetally subscribing.
Envoy  [author] 7 Sep, 2013 @ 5:40am
@adam Thanks for that tip, I will take a look at smaller resolutions.
TAfirehawk 5 Sep, 2013 @ 9:07pm
I have the same Tech Tree problem....no scroll bars at the bottom. Your resolution and possibly other video settings are what is different so you don't see the error. I had the same happen to me in Civ IV modding.
Envoy  [author] 4 Sep, 2013 @ 8:04pm
@n Because I play games to have fun. :)
@n_erecti!e_disfunction 4 Sep, 2013 @ 4:06pm
Why didn't you add a drawback to genetic engineering like there is in real life?
Лукошко 4 Sep, 2013 @ 9:53am
Needs same video from civ 2
Envoy  [author] 2 Sep, 2013 @ 3:27pm
I am sorry that you are having those problems. Unfortunately they do NOT happen for me so it is impossible for me to debug at this point.
Arkadus 1 Sep, 2013 @ 6:08pm
same thing happens with me. also when the techtree is brought up, the background is misalligned and is lower than the standard one. it does the same thing when i have my other mods active or inactive.
KaptainA 31 Aug, 2013 @ 2:44pm
Yes the tech tree. When I have the mod activated the bar disappears. When I deactivated the mod everything was back to normal and working fine.
Envoy  [author] 29 Aug, 2013 @ 2:27pm
@Kaptain You are referring to the tech tree? I have never experienced this issue before.
KaptainA 29 Aug, 2013 @ 10:14am
Hey! First of all great idea for a mod! Second, unfortunately when the mod is active the scrolling bar in the research tree does not work, making the game unplayable. I have BNW but also a lot of other mods installed. Do not know if it is the combination with other mods or a mistake in this one. Just want to give you a heads up :)
Envoy  [author] 20 Aug, 2013 @ 3:29pm
@anthony I copied the effect that Fertilizer has, with some minor adjustments. Seeing as that did not affect Polders, I made GE not affect Polders.
Cygnari 20 Aug, 2013 @ 2:46pm
What about polders?

Version 3:
- Adds the missing image needed to display while researching Genetic Engineering
eds_117 14 Aug, 2013 @ 6:13am
@Envoy For me, the tech mod you hyperlinked did not cause the same problem upon my starting a new game with it enabled. To answer your previous question, I am not subscribed to any other mod that alters the tech tree.
Envoy  [author] 13 Aug, 2013 @ 7:11pm
@Sitcomedy @eds Can you check and see if using this mod causes you the same trouble? https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=85233353&searchtext=Fishing
Sisyphos 13 Aug, 2013 @ 4:58pm
DX11
Envoy  [author] 13 Aug, 2013 @ 4:56pm
@Sitcomedt DX10 or 11?
Sisyphos 13 Aug, 2013 @ 3:46pm
I got the same problem as eds. I don't have any mods that alter the tech tree.
Envoy  [author] 13 Aug, 2013 @ 9:12am
@eds Do you use any other mods that alter the tech tree in any way?
Envoy  [author] 12 Aug, 2013 @ 10:19am
@eds I will take a look, though I've experienced no issues. Can you tell me what version of DIrect X you are using?
eds_117 12 Aug, 2013 @ 8:20am
Possible hitch or glitch: I suspected this mod was causing a problem with scrolling through the tech tree and indeed it probably is/was upon disengaging it (and only disengaging this mod). Though I love its concept and agree generally with the comments below, it would seem the intro of Genetic Engineering is at issue in terms of the UI. Anyone else finding this as well?
Dugunthi 11 Aug, 2013 @ 7:43am
LOL at the Vitamin C moon-barking.

Thanks for enabling me to use GMO at least in a game.
Envoy  [author] 10 Aug, 2013 @ 8:03pm

Version 2:
- Changed Medical Lab Science bonus to Food bonus
