@YellowJacket it is much better to do so not jsut becuase of mod file size but its also easier to organise mods there such as like me i rarly download mods from steam becuase directeries can get mixed up and corrupte or not read at all when you use a mod manager or such plus its easier to do all the files witohut steams exessive steps for instance i only have 3 or so mods from steam and around 300 or so from nexus its much easier ot see conflicts when you get it form nexus and use several mod managers while on steam...could do better and since i have my directeries diffrent locations it jsut be much easier to get it from nexus becuase more people who mod skyrim browsing enxus through steam so even if you dont maintain it its just a thing of convenience if you put i ton nexus

@Just Spencer
This is not on nexus. I have it here so I never saw a reason to upload it on nexus (unless it's just much better to do so through them)

@wdb-wookie1
I'll see what I can do about the soul gem cost. Originally the process was in place to avoid breaking the game by making really cheap scrolls that sell for quite a bit (when you have everything of course). There's mods out there that allow for soul gem combination of course but I'll see what can be done.

Is it just me, or is the scroll crafting not working? I have all the materials necessary, but the scrolls don't show up in the tanning rack crafting. Maybe I have an incompatible mod or something?

This on nexus

Wizard Time 17 Aug, 2014 @ 10:03am
if we need the perks why get this mod when we can just buy the spells
ADCarrie 11 Jun, 2014 @ 6:19pm
Ethan S. Its called reading the mod description. Beautifully done mod btw
John Shepard 5 Jun, 2014 @ 12:22am
kind of dissapointed, i thought you could literally write (type) stuff onto a scroll like you can in minecraft, that would be good. i am very dissapointed

Was using this mod mostly just for the ability to create charcoal. I did mess around with it a bit and though the idea of writing your own spells is a novel idea, its something I dont use enough in my normal gameplay. I will keep it on my favorites though, If i decide to re-subscribe. You did a great job on the mod by the way. Only reason I'm dropping it is, well I have a LOT of mods and my games are getting fairly laggy.

Part 2

I'm not a great mathematician, and only a little failure with programing. But, I'm hoping you get the idea. I think such a dynamic would make this mod so much more appealing and useful that it would blow your socks off.

I'll admit. I've played the game more like a thief, using stealth, and ranged weapons rather than a lot of magic and brute force. Unfortunately, the game penalizes stealth when you use magic. If you use magic, it alerts your enemies to your presents and location where, if I shoot someone with an arrow from a distance while they are separated from others, it only sets off minor alarms if any at all. Or, I can sneak up on enemies around the perimeters, silently killing them off one by one with a dagger (when my sneaking perks are high enough).

Anyway, food for thought for your next project, or update.
wdb-wookie1 19 Dec, 2013 @ 9:47pm
I liked the idea, and would like to use this a little more. Unfortunately, I've had a couple problems with it:

First and foremost is that, often, when I have plenty of petty soul gems for making one of the key ink's, your mod seems to think I don't have any petty soul gems at all! Rather discouraging. What's the point if I can't even craft the ink.

Second: even with my character at Level 50, I still couldn't make any more than two spells. Perhaps you could tweak this so that you can make a scroll for what ever spells you know (within certain perimeters, like destruction, or healing), with a formula calculating the strength of the scroll fashioned using the spell difficulty level, character’s magic level, and perks. ((Spell Lvl + Magic Lvl [+/-] % per Perk Lvl)) [+/*] Player Lvl) = Scroll Strength

In other words:
The Spell Level strength + or - a percentage of the Magic Level (based on the level of his perks)
Then add or multiply that strength by the Player's base Level.

OMG thank you SO much ive always thought this should have been in vanilla skyrim!!!
Lord Admiral Revol 22 Oct, 2013 @ 12:03pm
Or only destruction scrolls require perks?
Lord Admiral Revol 22 Oct, 2013 @ 11:54am
Hey, can you make a version where you do NOT require perks? That woud be great. Also, another idea is maybe we could be able to copy scrolls? You know, when we can't create a mayhem scroll but we stumble into one.

I seem to be having the same problem Airsoftpro32 had, but I have both filled and empty petty soul gems in my inventory.
Ouid Man 17 Aug, 2013 @ 7:18pm
I want a mod that allows writing on those useless pieces of rolled up parchment or you can purchase a blank journal from a general store and write in that as a journal for the player. That would be fantastic and would love to have it.
FROSTBYTE 13 Aug, 2013 @ 8:39pm
This mod seems wonderful, but I can't seem to make the scroll-crafting itself work - making ink works, as does making parchment, but turning it all into a working scroll won't work no matter what I do? Perhaps I'm doing something wrong.
Hopefully a few screenshots can help me out?
AUscinowicz 10 Aug, 2013 @ 7:29pm
No joke, I've been looking for a mod that does just this for ages. This looks great can't wait to use it.
DeathClaw 10 Aug, 2013 @ 4:11pm
I can make my own scrolls. Thank you. Great first mod. Keep it up.

That was my first idea. But the alchemy engine is based off of combining like ingredients with similar effects and doesn't really allow building like the cookpot/leather stand/forge.

For all those that need help, I'm making a better diagram.

I have the screenshots in order now, I'm just asking for a little time as I'm busy with studying for a licensing exam.
Flicker 5 Aug, 2013 @ 6:19am
anyone tell me how do this
The Notorious E_A_T 4 Aug, 2013 @ 8:25pm
does it level your magic when you craft it like it would if you had cast the spell? becuase that seems to make sense in the context of the mod.
Kuro Max 4 Aug, 2013 @ 6:53pm
@StyleMaker does anyone read descriptions these days?

Hey pls how to use this mod
fluffy tail enjoyer 4 Aug, 2013 @ 3:04pm
Mods like this already exist such as this one , so it's hardly an original idea, but still pretty well done.
Vulture  [author] 4 Aug, 2013 @ 12:07pm
I'll be working on a pictoral tutorial as soon as I can.

I thank everyone for their patience with me, in all honesty I was just throwing something out and never expected it to pic up as much speed as it has. I'm currently studying for a licensing exam so I could be slow with updates.

I was thinking about another update to add, for higher-level scrolls with the same effects of Shalidor's Scrolls of Insight and the like, as well as allowing players to craft Powdered Mammoth Tusk (as a reagent) using Mammoth Tusks. Perhaps even a few more ideas, I've been brainstorming, I have.

TD Moonguard 4 Aug, 2013 @ 7:45am
Just a quick question, do you level up making these? Since you said: This, I would hope to convey, should make it seem like the player explores magic in it's essence.
