Love the mod anyway! Gr8 job!
Update for 1.3? ???? *puppy eyes*
Noticed that this mod, along with FactionColor, use the same defName - Apparel_LeatherArmor. I'm dropping the message on both mod pages.
If you'd like to try it, please let me know your opinions.

Table of comparison of protection and the effect on speed
Wooden armor: 0.39 / 0.39 / 0.39 (- 0.8 mov )
Iron armor: 0.65 / 0.32 / 0.52 ( -0.8 mov )
Heavy fur armor: 0.8 / 0.15 / 0.97 ( 0 mov )
I have two thoughts:
1) Leather armor is too strong
2) Things worn in the shell layer are required to give a penalty on the speed of movement, in order to force them to be used only during hostilities
I set a material impact of 0.45 (instead of 0.65) and an effect on the speed of -0.2
In this case, the armor characteristic becomes the following:
Heavy fur armor: 0.55 / 0.108 / 0.67 ( -0.2 mov )
Leather armor: 0.36 / 0.108 / 0.67 ( -0.2 mov )
Also increased dressing time to 10 seconds.
Also I was originally looking at a wood plate armour, which shows how qualified I am to be in this discussion. Only thing I'd probably change would be to add a movement penalty of about 0.5, and increase the equip delay to 10s.
I'll patch those values in, rather than reupload your mod though. Just wanna polish my branding a little first.
It just seems strange that leather armour us so much better than flak. I guess it's not completely OP due to the movement penalty though.
I'll look into it and compare to some RPG books, but I may be back eating humble pie if it's balanced within 20% of what I would have done.
When balancing, I looked at pre-existing armors, and I think I decided to put leather armor right between the duster and plate armor in terms of armor values. I'd have to go back and look to make sure, though. Regardless, I wouldn't have any problem if somebody wanted to rebalance and reupload, given proper accreditation. Have some fun with it, I say.
Would you have any problem with someone rebalancing and reuploading your mod? With credit, of course.
I'm unable to reproduce on my end. If only cloth is available, the job won't run as there aren't enough materials. If there's enough cloth and leather, but the leather is forbidden (either in the job, or the item is forbidden), the job won't run for the same reason. The only thing I can think of is you have a mod that is marking cloth as a type of leather, which would cause the game to think it was a valid crafting material for leather armor and allow it to fulfill both the cloth requirement and the leather requirement.
I haven't come across that one. I'll look into it.
First of all, I apologize for deleting your comment. It was a slip of the finger when trying to edit my own. To everyone else, he asked about the compatibility of the mod with Combat Extended.
The Leather Armor mod doesn't conflict with Combat Extended. The problem would be that Leather Armor isn't balanced specifically for Combat Extended. The armor values of Leather Armor are somewhat close to Plate Armor, so high value leather armors will perform better than most middle to middle-high value plate armors. In many cases, the Leather Armor may actually outperform Plate Armor because it doesn't suffer from the movement/dodge penalty of Plate Armor. On the flipside, it also doesn't protect the hands and feet like Plate Armor does.
They didn't when you asked, but they do now. I added the neolithic apparel tag to them (as well as the medievalmilitary tag that nothing in vanilla seems to use), so now heavy archers and berserkers should rarely show up a lower cost leather armor. Other tribal members can show up wearing the helmet since it's much lower cost than the armor.
If the leather comes out yellow, it should. The game engine automatically colors the equipment based on the color of the leather, it seems. I've tried it with several mods that add leather.
I'd considered it, but none of the existing helmet models looked right. Also, as the original concept was supposed to be a leather counterpart to the plate armor, and the plate armor doesn't have a helmet, I wasn't sure if it was necessary. But I'll see if I can put something decent looking together.
