Huh, now that is curious. I've had issues like that with games before, total war warhammer typically locks @ 75 I've found, any further causing hard crashes.

I had not ever encountered it with divinity despite my modding the hell out of it a few times separately, but I'm not sure I ever went above low sixties so that could well be why.

So as it turns out, Divinity doesn't know how to count past sixtysomething when it comes to mods I just got rid of a bunch of redundant mods and I now can see it as well as the Tacked on Tools mod of yours I just downloaded

Typically (Though its been a bit) a divinity mod from steam should be stored in My Docs > Larian studios > Game version name (so Divinity OS2 Definitive) > Mods


If all else fails I believe you could probably find a copy of this mod on my google drive link and just put it in there, I think that should make it appear in game for you.

what does the mod show up as in the files, I want to check if steam is putting the file somewhere it shouldn't for some reason

Unfortunately it still isn't showing up, I definitely believe you in that it's not an issue with the mod it has to be a steam issue, I'll let you know if I figure it out, thanks for the help though!

I'm playing on DE, I've tried doing the things you said, I'mma try a complete restart of steam and try everything again just to be safe

Standard checks to be on the safe side; are you on classic or definitive edition?
Classic shouldn't detect this as it's made for DE, so that could be why - rarely the cause, but i have to check because otherwise there will be no way to know.

Considering the missing file there's no point troubleshooting beyond that because the missing file will be why the backpack isn't there.

As for why the file is missing, at a guess, Steam can be weird downloading files sometimes but unless you subbed and booted the game immediately / had it open already, Steam usually prompts for downloads when the game is launched.

My first suggestion would be:
Subscribe again
Boot game to title menu
Check Steam to see if there are any Divinity downloads on pause (This is usually where they'd show up, but not always)
Close the game and check again in steam downloads

It doesn't seem to be a mod issue as the file still cites itself as the 2019 version, so no changes.

So I was having trouble finding the backpack, it wasn't in the place it was supposed to be, I checked the mod list to check if it wasn't active but it wasn't even there, any ideas as to why? I tried unsubbing and subbing again but it didn't work

I have no idea, to be honest. I can't recall taking a bag with me that did that in my games, and I did take a few pouches and such from act 1 throughout the game used to store keys, books etc seperately.

It is possible this is a unique property of the bag type I used, but I picked what seemed to be a generic backpack like others in the game when I placed it. So unless there's a wonky flag that isn't supposed to be set (doubtful, I don't remember any 'reset between act' options), or it is in fact some odd version of a backpack, it might just be a base game bug with either specific containers or ones containing a significant amount of items.

So, I see this bug has already been reported, but it doesn't just happen once. If you keep the backpack with you, it refills at EVERY ARC. I just got onto the Lady Vengeance and it refilled again.

Separate to the fact of it's an interesting bug and a (relatively) harmless cheat; why does the backpack update on every area change? Realistically it should only fill on game start, just seems like pointless additional clutter to the loading screens between arcs to have it check every time..?

It's certainly an interesting bug, and one that was mentioned before.
As it does no harm and is basically more free materials in a cheat mod however, I'm leaving it as-is.

My guess is there's a weird flag on that particular backpack used that I accidentally set / that it always has set by default, and that restocks it between acts.

Seems that if you pick up this backpack on the ship, it resets when you arrive on the beach of fort Joy. I had taken out everything but the tools and when I got to fort joy new skil books and another pile of gold had appeared in the backpack. Could have been a glitch, I need to test and see if it happens again on a new game.

I think its been mentioned once before as an idea at least yeah, its not technically at least difficult to execute, though I can't update this project any more as the original files are gone and recovering older projects in mod tools is... obscure, to say the least.

I could in theory build a new one but image/description/mod tools setup and steam upload requires a bit of free time and I'm fairly short on it lately.

In short it'd have to be a full new mod due to file limitations (missing) and I don't have enough time most days to give it a swing. If I get some time later today/next few days I'll give it a swing, though if I will get that time is anyone's guess.

Have you ever thought of adding a second backpack on Reaper Coast just in case someone used a mod to skip the tutorial/fort joy? Or maybe a different mod for it?

Ah there we go. Yeah I never looked into directly adding to inventory personally, though even if I had it'd probably be a mess of trying to support non-standard races anyway, so dumping it on the ground makes it easier for everyone regardless of what other modded races they (might) be using.

I found the bag! I had misread the information given and had assumed that the bag was already in the inventory once the game was loaded. I located the bag and it was fine!

By bring up the items, do you mean the bag itself is missing or the bag is empty?

Usual checks: Make sure the mod is enabled in game, subscribed to correctly (sometimes steam won't download unless you reboot the game for whatever reason) and the game is definitive edition (none of my mods are built for classic)

Having had time to check now, most of my folders seem to have survived but it seems like Quick start was one of the mods I made early on and so I don't have those and a few others. Not sure precisely what happened to them, but the engine doesn't show me that.

I could probably make a quick bedroll mod and just throw 4 of them in the spawn room though, realistically.

I'll see if my divinity engine assets have survived the move to a new computer in the next two hours or so to see if its possible - they should have, given I copied both Divinity and the engine folders in steam over in full, but sometimes it works in mysterious ways.

I'm been on that boat so much I like to go straight up but I have to find a bedroll. Makes it easier so if you could add a bedroll :-). Yes, I know I'm being very picky at this moment with this wonderful mod but a bedroll would make this mod go from A++ to A+++. Cheers.

Not entirely unreasonable, though some players might then sort their backpacks into each other or sell some off, which if you're not paying attention to names is likely where many lose the cheat backpack

To be honest I don't think it is, but this is the only case of this I've encountered so its hard to tell.
I suspect it may actually have always done this and simply most people don't bring the bag with them and not somehow lose it.

Does it re-appear when you load the save perhaps?
Or is it explicitly when you transition into a new act area?

(IIRC The editor considers the boat to be its own act, so that would line up with what you're seeing)

k so, i can confirm, i just finish act1 and the pack is restored again, so that's happened as soon the tutorial was done, and now again at the end of act 1, i'm not complain at all!!! XD

ok so I want to clarify, I am encountering this very nice anomaly which, it would seem, allows me to get back the contents of the backpack every time you change the game area, considering: tutorial> fort joy> finished fort joy so far.
this game was started by creating 4 accounts, where for each account the mod was enabled before creating the characters.
(the game where I found the empty backpack was deleted)

As for the contests respawning: I haven't actually encountered that, though honestly I usually just pack what I want out of the bag and leave. Could be most players simply don't take the bag with them and it respawns the contents on reloading the game or something.

Honestly it works out as a bonus-cheat feature for those who want absolutely loads of free stuff anyway, and if they took the bag to make sure they got every last bit of value out of it then they'd probably take the extra too.

Meanwhile completely doesn't affect people who just left it there i.e only wanted one or two specific things right away, so I'll Todd Howard this and say its a feature not a bug from now on :spaz2insane:

Yeah the empty backpack right away is an anomaly. Likely caused by enabling post-game start, as if you think about where you start the game world its in your sight line. Assuming Larian tries to spawn things in a sneaky fashion (I.e they don't pop up on the screen in front of you) it'd probably wait till its off your screen to spawn.

As for 4 characters that should* be irrelevant, barring a very weird bug - 4 char is default for many players, so I'd assume I'd have gotten more than one report of it by now if it was happening consistently. Presumably the delayed mod install as you mentioned.

is it normal that the backpack has recovered? I had emptied it by assigning each item in the inventory of a specific character, and now I find myself with the backpack restored, I found another 10k gold inside. now i have a total of 20k gold at the start of the game and all skill books x2 (i just reached Fort Joy and i noticed it).
I can imagine it happened because I created 4 characters at the beginning of the game, enabling the mod to all 4 accounts

No worries then, I think you have to scroll down to see some of the items, and if I remember right Zaikk's doesn't even tell you what it does anyway so its an easy mistake.

Yeah, I believe I included a Zaikk's talon in there.
Try that on any healing pots, should convert to poison if I remember right.

This mod always makes things great to start. Without I ever have enough money to buy all my skills. One suggestion, as I'm playing my first undead character - maybe some poison in there :-). Thanks for a needed mod.

Well the good news is if you like simple, my other OS2 mods are similar in scope so it might be worth a look at those at some point, might find something else you like.

2 man party with lone wolf was on release (and arguably still is, though definitely is with mods) significantly stronger than with 4 man, so should be an easier time, consider bumping difficulty up a notch if you're on normal and you steamroll the first area.

Absolutely, yeah as u said it is a bit basic but lemme tell u, this is why i think is just so good. this mod alone can be the excuses for me to keep play this game(and learn more from it).
in my actual game i was using the gardening thing to see how it was, but lemme tell u, I would have chosen this mod of yours directly if I had known it before.
(i finished dos2 only once with regular 4man party no mods, now i'm trying 2man party, next time will probably be solo with the quick start backpack ;D)

It's a bit basic as far as cheat style boosts go, but if you just want a significantly sped up early game it should work pretty well. Feel free to let me know if you encounter any bugs, though I'd be surprised if so given how small the mod is.

Had I noticed this sooner I would have replied quicker but seemingly half my mods for Divinity decided I don't need notifications anymore for whatever reason.

However - I originally did try adding items to the Lady Vengeance before a few times with my Eternal mods, but every time I tested those, it didn't work. So no, unfortunately I wouldn't have been able to resolve that for you via the lady vengeance at least - but given the considerable time gap I imagine that you either resolved or ignored it by now.

(I don't remember exactly what happened as the testing was a while ago now, I think they either just didn't show up or the game crashed though from my memory)

Hey KhromeHound, any way this can be available on Lady Vengeance? I need the Zaikk's Talon badly. I'm on my first play through and didnt realize the importance of that item to an undead character. Everything I read online indicates that item is only available in Act 1. Thanks if you can or can't!

Make sure to delete the old file from your mod directory and resub to get the new one, otherwise it probably won't update.
