Wheatley's Unscientific Tests: Part 2

This one was a lot less frustrating than the first one, good job!

Although after looking up a walkthrough I've learned that I technically solved it the wrong way.

It's entirely possible to solve this while completely bypassing putting any gel on the cube or using cleansing gel afterwards.

well that was a pain in the arse....but lots of fun. Great map!

Liked this a lot more than part one. Portal placement and timing in the first room was a little finicky, but it was still a good puzzle. Second room was a really interesting use of cubes and gels that doesn't show up often.

most funny part was when i can`t figured out second part just because i lauch cube with some angle, because of it cube just shakes all over chamber.

Cube Has it's problems, wish it was fix.

Some kind of weird anti-gravity bug in the first room - I literally floated towards the door after jumping from near the door-release button. Now I'm floating in the 2nd room as well. Guessing that is all unintentional.

After passing through such interesting and well-conceived cameras, I have a habit of seeing how others passed it. I didn't pass like most. I managed to deliver the cube from one site to another with the help of an excursion funnel and then pass the test in the same way. Either this is a flaw or the author's idea. Excellent camera.

@Avatar There was an invisible wall here, which was supposed to limit some unintended solutions. Obviously, this was not a very good decision. So I redesigned this test chamber to avoid such disappointments. You can play it here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2291899834

I usually like the tests in this series but it was disappointing that some barrier doesn't allow the cube to be transported in the first room. Is that a bug or is that supposed to be on purpose, anyway sad.

Прошел с удовольствием, отличная работа, спасибо!

Both chambers were original takes on the gels that I had never seen, bravo. Lots of fun to solve, very satisfying. The story was funny & the visuals were great. Thanks for making these, you did an awesome job.

The gravity well was an easy tip off but I used floor to ceiling instead to better my chances of a long toss. Fun map with some head scratching...THX :)
rex 7 Nov, 2020 @ 1:01pm
There is a bug that will cause tons of cubes and boxes of sentry guards to fall from the ceiling...

I have replayed the map after reading the comments, and I just have 1 thing to say:
When it don't work the way you want, do it otherwise. Don't create some unseen rule that don't exist in the regular game.

I am a very good cube thrower, and it's very frustrating to see a cube hitting some invisible barrier where there's without a doubt, at first glance, an empty space with no wall.
xo_2025 23 Oct, 2020 @ 5:13am
Seriousely, I was flabergasted by the first stage, but what is that? I can't even bring that cube up because there's an invisible barrier that prevents me to.

Also really good even if you have to be a little fast in the first puzzle, the second is really good though.
Portal2Player 4 Jul, 2020 @ 11:17am
where do you even start in the second chamber?
| \_/ () 3 May, 2020 @ 10:42am
The second puzzle is great and its idea is one that I would've expected to have seen in many other tests, but I haven't. It's just so intuitive and good as a puzzle concept.

The first room however is awful. Those invisible clip brushes are dreadful. I get that they prevent unintended solutions but this really isn't the way. And also the rail platform at the top has no collision so when I tried to stand on it, I fell into the goo and I felt cheated. Visually it's well-looking and interesting (especially the upper flooded area) but as a puzzle the layout is kinda bad. important surfaces aren't properly lit; from the top you have no clear view of the exit or the light-bridge;... I like the idea of a bouncing cube puzzle but you really have to move some elements and lights around to make it good.

this one was fun to solve
Azzlanoid 11 Jan, 2020 @ 8:57am
Also yea I got the items stuck in the pipes too but I still finished the map with -2 fps because I have such a big brain I rendered the game and calculated all physics in my head instead

Very fun map, ez firstr try I am such a damn genius. I did it while I was writing my PhD. Thesis about Nanowire Superinductance Fluxonium Qubits

Am I actually the only one having the bug with the top pipe in the first chamber somehow getting all the items stuck in it and causing a lot of lag and stuff falling from the ceiling (cubes, etc)?
_galaxy 16 Jun, 2019 @ 6:24pm
I know you didnt want the solution where I just brought the cube without paint on the funnel without the need for water... but I think the invisible wall was unnecessary, maybe something visible to block it would have been nice.

Well, those are still 2 good tests. Had a lot of fun figuring out the second one. BTS scenes still amazing! I only wish maybe you had put the Map 1 later in the collection since it's a harder one, this would have been a perfect first contender.

Loved it, although I was amazed that I pulled off both last cube moves on the first try. In both cases, I thought I'd blown it until I looked over and saw the cube where I wanted it, pretty as you please. In the first room, I used the light bridge to exit, your solution was more elegant. Great fun, thanks for creating.

That second chamber was pretty amazing, and satisfying as hell to pull off. Good job!
quat 20 Feb, 2019 @ 1:36pm
Ok this is a great map. Although the physics-clip in the first puzzle is kind of lame I can see why it's there, but I wish it was something else. The second puzzle is amazing. I've played thousands of Portal maps and I've never seen that move before.
Wulfensteinster 17 Feb, 2019 @ 8:20pm
I loved the bounce gel in this one.
Solid Snake 17 Feb, 2019 @ 4:19pm
Hi, I really liked the map, how can you do all this? How do you get the wheatley monitor, core (space, curiosity, among others?, I would love to know this to do a great test!:steamhappy:
Demon Arisen 17 Feb, 2019 @ 9:25am
Fun tests with some good visuals, thumbs up and faved! :)

The invisible wall surrounding the funnel was ridiculously annoying.
n/a 15 Feb, 2019 @ 8:10am
What I think shines out most in both of these tests, is the visual design. The attention to lighting is great, as well as some of the clever visual details, like the flooded pit. Some areas may have been a little too bare, and some a little too cluttered, but all in all it maintains a nice balance of density and simplicity. The very first area of both of these tests has an interesting mood to it.

Puzzle design was alright in both of these tests, this one was better than the first. It dealt with clever solutions, however the ability to perform these solutions was too flimsy (especially in the second tests of both maps). Hopefully future puzzles will deal with more of these clever solutions, but ones which are easier to perform.

Excellent map design that had me scratching my head for a bit. The way that you used both gels in tandem was nothing short of inspiring!

Very fun map. I enjoyed it a lot. Great hammer work. Thumbs up.

I really had to work at solving your puzzles - the first chamber seemed the most difficult. Well done - thanks for creating.
liwers 11 Feb, 2019 @ 11:41pm
No, no, no, it's bad..

No rotation, no long distance jump, not even a dark place discovering, how can you call it as a Wheatley's test..!

It made me so disappointed.. that.. come on..! Where is the Part 3..!? I'm so eager to play testing and that drives me crazy..!

All I can give is a thumb-up..! Keep doing it greater..!

Meow..!

great map! took me some thought in that last area :steamhappy:
