I agree that XCOM units should be a limited resource that disappears forever after they die. It would sort of reflect XCOM gameplay better, the fact that each soldier is valuable.
Biggus Dickus 26 Aug, 2019 @ 9:27am
It would also make the xcom units even more special than this mod already tries to do.
Biggus Dickus 26 Aug, 2019 @ 9:22am
This mod would be so much better if first place got 3 xcom units, 2nd place got 2 units, and 3rd got 1. But nobody can build them. Once they are gone they are gone. Would take away the overpoweredness that the mod currently is.

Does this mod do anything with the Giant Death Robot?

I would easilly tweak somethings to make it more balanced, charming and practical to do in-game:
- Every nation that got 3rd position in making progress get 3 X-Com squad near the capital (this would charm weak nations looking for some way to defend themselves);
- Every nation that got 2nd position would receive a National Wonder in the capital allowing the production of X-Com squads
- The first position nation would receive a X-Com Wonder in the captial, giving every X-Com units controled by that nation the promotions related to the buffs you mentioned above (+some extra xp for all units produced maybe?)

Although I partially like the idea, it seems to conflict with itself. Few would vote for such a wonder in the Congress but the people who are capable of building a powerfull army to devastate their oponents. I mean, votes still can be sold, of course, and a war can change the productivity of a nation toward the progress, so maybe it still has a small window to be possible to be done without having the political power to win a diplomatic victory already, and we can always disable diplomatic victory too, so, the mod is still playable. However again, if a player is willing to make a victory trough war, then I he wouldn't waste his production in a congress wonder, making even the players who are actually willing to win trough war to don't vote for something that would only waste their productivity, leaving a congress wonder open to give random chances in the game. The idea still looks charming though, even if theorically inefficient.

Imagine a situation in Civ 6 where you have 1,2 or 3 xcom squads and you have to beat a gaint civilizations and along the way you capture cities and overthrow aliens, that would be fucking epic
Obi Wan Cannoli 10 Apr, 2016 @ 6:06am
Only if there was a Mod that added aliens too.
Nukular Power 29 Mar, 2016 @ 12:08pm
"After Xcom, you might wanna allow the other civs to build Exalt headquarters and Exalt units.
Same strength as Xcom units or slightly less, but weak against Xcom... XD" Love this idea, haha
Commander Cpenn 21 Jan, 2016 @ 11:57am
Or you could totally build the aliens as OP and destroy XCOM since that is the new cannon for the game
Danny 27 Jun, 2015 @ 2:05am

You can also launch a Jeager Program as an alternative or if everyone agrees, it can be used alongside the XCOM to take out the powerful aliens. The top 5-3 Most highest nations can take their own slice of the program (If they cooperate) and build their special kind of Jeagers that come with the program they choose. (Gispsy Danger for the American strike group ((Doesnt need to be in the home country)) or Saber for the Japanese strike group)
Foxxedhound 5 May, 2015 @ 1:39pm
Oh and btw, the aleins take some border when they land if they are inside a nations borders.
Foxxedhound 5 May, 2015 @ 1:38pm
I have an idea for a mod.

-A mod that makes it so the random chance of a alien pod lands. (Modern onwards)
-The pod makes an alien city, the city is a warpish kinda looking. It can make more alien settlers.
-The XCOM (This mod) can be used to combat them.
-If all the nations cooperate, then XCOM headquarters will be put in the Host's capital.
-He then can make XCOM soldiers, that can go into other nations borders to f$ck up those alien b@stards.
Danny 22 Apr, 2015 @ 7:08am
Xcom units should have a special promotion line to increase successrate in dealing with aliens, too ^^
Danny 22 Apr, 2015 @ 7:07am
Every civ should be able to have their own Xcom initiative for balance reasons.
Wild barbs change into aliens and their camps are landed/crashed spaceships.
Defeating alien units gives a small tech boost and capturing spaceships a big tech boost, in addition to any gold and culture bonusses, if applicable. ^^

Alien units might actively try to capture and raise cities, with prefering to attack civs not in a war first.
Makes peaceful civs more in need to have a defensive army. ^^

I would love a mod that turns late game barbarian spawns into alien landing / crash sites. Looting them can even give tech bonuses. And if you like Godzilla or Pacific Rim, a new kind of barbarian can spawn in the OCEAN - Kaijus. And Giant Death Robots are replaced with the Jaegers.

XD
IF UFOS DID SPAWN XCOM THAT WOULD BE OVERPOWERED
XD
Cancervero 13 Oct, 2014 @ 4:00am
I think you should be able to make xcoms if you contributed in the XCOM initiative
Keltskiy 11 Oct, 2014 @ 3:18am
what about a new gamemode of sorts called Xcom Alien Civilization where Barbarians are Aliens and will attempt to capture citys and towns to the eventuality of global alien domination?
Maximum Broly! 16 Sep, 2014 @ 1:38am
Will you be making this for the new Civ: Beyond Earth, too? XD
SharpChipmunk 8 Sep, 2014 @ 11:13pm
How about making a civ that spawns about the information age and spawn UFOs that drop Xcom like unitson all the players. When you kill them they drop "goodie huts" that willl make some new custom future tech which you can use to upgrade your xcom units further once researched. Adding spawn bonuses promotions after they are reasearched. You could reasearch those techs the normal way but it would take you longer without the goodie huts that spawn when you kill the custom alien civ. Just an idea that would work well with this mod.
Scotty_Dont_Know 6 Aug, 2014 @ 3:49pm
I've tried downloading this mod multiple times and it still won't show up in the directory. I have both BNW and GK but nothing. All the other mods I have come and go easilly. Halp.
Malleus 24 Jun, 2014 @ 1:00am
I am not sure if it is a bug or a feature, but even if you don't have XCOM HQ, you can upgrade paratroopers to XCOM squad. Even before you built HQ.
Tristanxh 17 Jun, 2014 @ 6:44pm
MAKE BARBARIC ALIENS!!! Aka Barbarians become ALIENS!!!
Dogmeat 28 May, 2014 @ 5:11am
A nice alternative/extension to this would be add to the barbarian spawning a giant rampaging alien monster that would require a GDR or X-Com team to defeat.
Bluetail 19 Apr, 2014 @ 5:10pm
I agree with Poopy.Peebottle and one fricken weird name.. well him

plingo11 10 Apr, 2014 @ 6:49pm
there should be a way to have barbarians become aliens or EXALT in the information age.
Thurnip 9 Apr, 2014 @ 10:34pm
There's anyway to make a foreign civ (aliens) to attack all players? and than players can cooperate to defend themselves against the xeno menace? :D
d.armstrong 9 Apr, 2014 @ 1:50pm
you need brave new world mod
Meabh 21 Feb, 2014 @ 5:49pm
i downloaded the game but says it is missing dependencies, i looked and it said it needs BNW and blocks
not sure about the blocks, but i really to think i have BNW
Taz 7 Feb, 2014 @ 11:07am
I wish i could download this mod... i subscribed but i didnt get the mod T.T
samsaq 24 Dec, 2013 @ 6:18pm
man this looks awsome! (I play xcom due to that it makes me cringe when the soldiers die as they're extremely valuable in the game)
DJUNGELSKOG 7 Nov, 2013 @ 8:51pm
Damn Envoy, I thought I was being innovative when I suggested the alien barbarian thing a couple months back, guess not. Thanks for being patient with me and everybody pestering you with the same pitch every other day for at least 4 months now!
Salamander 27 Oct, 2013 @ 9:32pm
For some reason when I subscribe the mod does not show up on the list, I have all dlc and add on content
[PHNX]Kordarus 26 Oct, 2013 @ 7:00pm
Is there alien invasion event?
Envoy  [author] 16 Oct, 2013 @ 1:26pm
@Everfree That sounds like a Firaxis issue as the unit is part of core gameplay
Vibby 16 Oct, 2013 @ 12:56pm
I found a glitch that happens when the enemy gets xcom units and drops in and destroys the ground they land on, but the units turn invisible. When I attack my, unit icon stays in place but the unit animation shows them walking as if the enemy is not there. Hope you can find a solution, it's pretty anoying.
Justice Lifebringer 13 Oct, 2013 @ 8:10am
Too bad it requires Brave New World.
Lt.Stock 3 Oct, 2013 @ 7:27pm
I knew it! The giant death robot was an alien robotics project turned on the populace! Why can't XCOM drop that into the combat site? X-Rays sees what happens when we get serious.
50 Pence 24 Sep, 2013 @ 9:47am
@Envoy I know you can't (most probably) do it, but im just saying it would be nice to see someone do something like it for the original civ 5.
Envoy  [author] 23 Sep, 2013 @ 2:43pm
@Gladiator The unit itself is built into BNW, as is the Resolutions mechanic -- nothing I can do to help you.
50 Pence 23 Sep, 2013 @ 10:41am
Be nice if it was compatible with all Civ 5.
why no zoidberg 21 Sep, 2013 @ 6:07am
this is briliant! hahaha firaxis should do more crossovers with xcom in the future
alexstrogan 21 Sep, 2013 @ 3:41am
Still necessary to make a mod, when in the future there would be new types of barbarians aliens. Because all the Earth is already busy, the camp aliens do in the ocean
i want to die plz 14 Sep, 2013 @ 9:49am
favorited, will buy once i can afford brave new world.
BlincGaming 9 Sep, 2013 @ 10:23am
we will be watching commander :)
The Japester 8 Sep, 2013 @ 2:42pm
I like this! It makes the end-game domination feel like an actual race, instead of who can throw more GDRs and XCom Squads at their enemies.
Envoy  [author] 25 Aug, 2013 @ 7:47am
@Arkadius Lite allows Bronze and Silver winners to also build XCOM Squads.
