Does this work for 5.8 ?
Ares_Hong Bang- Trieu Dynasty 4 Apr, 2019 @ 7:00am
I understand it, thank you so much
Redkirby  [author] 3 Apr, 2019 @ 4:34pm
The second reason is that for making a set, I need to find something that will inspire me … the building shapes of this set, the texture of this one … those could be great for feudal age, those more for castle age etc … I need to get a spark with something first from other mods/graphics, because I'm not like excellent modders who can build sets from head to toe, making their own shapes and textures from pictures or photographs. My strong suit in making mods is that I get ideas on recombining things that already exists, textures and shapes, sometimes I recolor etc ...

And at last, I think you can understand that I can't spend at least one month of my free time to make an entire set for somebody else for free, and not something that comes from my own desire, cause I'll have to make a set for everyone who ask me, not only you.
Redkirby  [author] 3 Apr, 2019 @ 4:34pm
@Ares_Đại.Việt_Thịnh.Thế : I'm sorry but I can't just take a very specific request like this one.

Because first of all, I'm already working on an entire set for Portuguese, and so I need entire dedication to it. Making an entire set (feudal + castle + imperial) takes at least 1 month (and I don't count walls !) and only with hard work on it almost every evening (cause I'm working at my real job on daytime). I also have a long list of things that I need to fix in my old mods, that other users have already requested.

Thank you @Redkirby!! And thanks again for all your hard work! :)
Redkirby  [author] 21 Mar, 2019 @ 1:54pm
@meboosta Yes, it's 35153 (and 35152 for the shadow)

@dontstayafk : As long as you give credits, there's no problems :)
dontstayafk 18 Mar, 2019 @ 7:02pm
Hello, can I use your Monastery in my mod?
meboosta 16 Mar, 2019 @ 1:34pm
Ohh I see. Any chance I can find out what SLP you use for your monastery? (or does it just use the default IA SLP numbering that Saint_Michaels_/omkar originally used?)

I believe the default IA numbering for the Britons' monastery would be 35153, is that right?
Redkirby  [author] 16 Mar, 2019 @ 12:33pm
@Klaus : Probably when I'll be on holiday, having more time to do it.

@meboosta : No it's doesn't override it, but with both mods, Franks and Britons will have different buildings except walls and castle.
meboosta 11 Mar, 2019 @ 2:23pm
Hi Redkirby, quick question: I noticed that you recommended having your IA Frank set paired with this one -- does this Briton set override the default Frank set if we haven't subscribed to your IA Frank set?
Klaus Moeller 6 Mar, 2019 @ 2:13am
It is a good mod. By the way when are you going to add that castle you talk about?
Redkirby  [author] 4 Mar, 2019 @ 4:06pm
Thanks you so much meboosta :) I spend a lot of time to make it the more perfect possible so it's great to have compliments like yours :)
meboosta 4 Mar, 2019 @ 3:46pm
That monastery is FANTASTIC -- that building alone makes this set well-deserving of a thumbs up, great work!!
Redkirby  [author] 3 Mar, 2019 @ 12:24pm
@ecl_inc : Well I didn't say history doesn't matter, of course not, it's still a video game about history, but I said it can't be 100% accurate because of the needs of the video game ^^ The feudal set is now published in a new IA mod for Franks.
ecl-inc 3 Mar, 2019 @ 7:21am
@Redkirby : Yeah, I guess gameplay-wise they have to be different. :steamsad: Just makes me a little sick to my stomach seeing the English appearing superior for no reason, ;) even if I have exactly 0% french DNA. ^^
If history didn't matter, why make independent sets at all? But anyway - I digress. I didn't realize it was that much work. I'm looking forward to your feudal set, even if it's brown and dirty. :) I guess i'll just continue using the standart set for now.
Redkirby  [author] 3 Mar, 2019 @ 6:27am
@ecl-inc : Well I'm working on a Frank feudal set, you're going to be disappointed because it's going to be very brown and wooden ^^

But the fact is, we can't be 100% accurate with history in making sets for AoE, even the developper's can't. You have to make choices to get game logic and uniformity. It's a video game after all, not an history book.

And I felt like Franks with black roofs, and Britons with brown roof was definitely weirder than what I'm actually doing ^^ I could have made them both browns or both blacks, but it would have remove the original intention which was to make them look differents.
Redkirby  [author] 3 Mar, 2019 @ 6:17am
You have to change the name and the emplacement of the slp files, it's quite tedious, you need a doc which lists all the slp files numbers or it's going to take forever. But I'm going to do it for this mod as soon as the castle will be made.
ecl-inc 3 Mar, 2019 @ 6:16am
Of course, if "Frankish" is also supposed to mean all of French Medieval History, the roofs do not have to be black. I'm just annoyed that the Britons get sleek, clean Buildings, while Franks look like they're hundrets of years behind.

"Britons" most likely means England during the Heptarchy, (Anglo-Saxons), so their buildings should somewhat resemble reconstructions of Winchester or Westminster, and not Tudor or Elizabethan Architecture, which is post-medieval.

Anyway. I digress. I realize you didn't make that decision. Jsut a shame, that I cannot find a single decent Frankish architecture set out there. Having this, as an IA Frank set would be enough for now, so if anybody could get on that? :)
ecl-inc 3 Mar, 2019 @ 6:15am
@redkirby, huh. Well I'll be damned. I googled black thatch roofs, and they're a thing....
Anyway, Yeah, I know that Architecture in Aquitaine, Occitanie and Provence is partly more mediterranean, but the Frankish heartland was between the Seine and the Rhine. It's an area rich in slate, where you'll find a majority of houses having slate-roofs.

The Briton Wonder you mentioned is actually the Aachen Cathedral, and is (ironically) most definitly Frankish. Actually it's maybe the most iconic Frankish building of all, since it was the seat of Emperor Charlemagne. ("Teuton" Wonder is Frankish too btw.) If you google "Carolingian Architecture", you'll see what I mean. Or google St. Michales in Fulda, Lorsch Abbey, St. Justinus in Frankfurt, Ingelheim Palace reconstruction, Abbey of Corvey, Kaiserpfalz Goslar, or many of the 100 other royal residences of Frankish Kings.
narja144 3 Mar, 2019 @ 1:25am
Thank you so much for this creation. It is perfect architecture set! I want a lot of time for western black roof church with size 3x3 tiles which is there! :)
Redkirby  [author] 2 Mar, 2019 @ 8:02pm
Also, I'm french and I live and grew up in Paris suburb (not so far from the Chartres Cathedral which is the frank wonder by the way ^^), but I used to live in the south of France, and went very often in Bretagne on holiday where I have family and friends, and I can tell you that black roofs are pretty much a North architecture, I don't think as you say that this is more common to have black roofs in France than in England, because in the south of France, it's roman architecture, you will never find an architecture like this mod in Toulouse, Montpellier, Marseille or Nice, it's too hot in summer to have black roofs ! XD
Redkirby  [author] 2 Mar, 2019 @ 7:52pm
@ecl-inc, simple : Because black thatch roofs existed and still exist in small villages in England (you can find it on Google). On a gameplay point of view, to make some uniformity : the black roof mod for castle age already exists, I didn't created it, and I think for many people it was used for Britons because of the wonder black roofs (the french one is more brownish). Of course those kind of roofs exists in France too, but maybe more in Bretagne (in fact the Little Britanny). And of course, there is also brown roofs in England, but the point is making two distinguishable sets. And as I say, to me, the decision of making black roof for Britons and brown roofs for Franks is about matching the wonder hue.
ecl-inc 2 Mar, 2019 @ 1:45pm
This is very well done. My only question would be: why? Why do this, why do the Britons get black thatch roofs? What even is that? And why do the Britons (Presumably being Saxon -or- Medieval England) get black slate-tile roofing, and not the Franks, when it's comparitivly a lot more common for them? Not complaining, just wondering, each to their own I guess.
But good work anyways.
Redkirby  [author] 2 Mar, 2019 @ 1:35pm
@Klaus Moeller : it's not that it's necessary, but if you want to have Britons and Franks completely separated, it is suggested to make both mods works (If not, Franks will still have the same Imperial roofs as Britons). But it's not an obligation, you can skip it if you want.
Klaus Moeller 2 Mar, 2019 @ 7:54am
why does it needs the Imperial Brown Roofs for West European Set mod?. don't you mean Saint_Michaels' or Omkar Independent Architecture mods?
Redkirby  [author] 2 Mar, 2019 @ 2:33am
@mrk_ck : Instead it's the biggest challenge ! But for Briton, I think they have to keep the original walls. If I have to make news walls, it would be more for Franks than Britons.

@Felik : Will I make Japan ? No there is enough set in the Steam Workshop for Japan. Besides I personally use the original set for them.

@Dragon Heart : Probably, as soon as I've finished this one (I still have to make a Castle)
Chet Walters 1 Mar, 2019 @ 11:57pm
This is cool. Do you think you can make a non-IA one? :)
YuenHsiaoTieng 1 Mar, 2019 @ 10:22am
I love it
Механик ☭ 1 Mar, 2019 @ 9:43am
Really like your work, will Japan?
mrk_ck 1 Mar, 2019 @ 12:34am
i know theyre the biggest challenge but new walls would be nice. love the monastery!!
Redkirby  [author] 28 Feb, 2019 @ 6:55pm
I won't, because I like to always keep the original wonder, besides, the monastery go along with the wonder in its architecture. It would make no sense to change it then.
勞動神鷹 28 Feb, 2019 @ 6:33pm
Would you please also change the wonder :D
