thanks, I got it

@regalmanemperor That's too bad. There's an alternative download link in the description. If it doesn't work, I'll upload it to civfanatics. But it should work ;p
regalmanemperor 13 Feb, 2014 @ 8:40pm
It would be very much appreciated if you could upload it to civfanatics, steam hasn't downloaded a single mod for me in the past 5 days

Fair enough. Thank you.
DJSHenninger  [author] 4 Feb, 2014 @ 12:55pm
@skaz88 I don't know what kind of music would be appropriate for every single civilization. I personally don't value the in-game music highly, so I don't really have the incentive to go through all the trouble just to find a piece of music. I wouldn't know which track to pick if I found several; I'm not sure if it's even allowed to add some copyrighted music. Currently, I don't feel like modding anything at all.
skaz88 4 Feb, 2014 @ 10:50am
I have a question. Will you be adding leader music to this or any of your other civilizations?
DJSHenninger  [author] 13 Jan, 2014 @ 8:45am
@skaz88 Thanks :)
skaz88 12 Jan, 2014 @ 2:45pm
I like this one! As a cultural player I appreciate Holy Sites having extra culture.
DJSHenninger  [author] 11 Jan, 2014 @ 1:38am
@skaz88 No, I forgot to add a certain code. I'm currently busy with fixing all these mods while adding other stuff I wanted to add such as other UBs, bugfixes, new leaders, better art. That's why it generally takes a long(er) time. Frankly, I wanted to update this mod today :)
skaz88 10 Jan, 2014 @ 2:45pm
When I started up a game as this I noticed that the intro music kept playing and repeating (instead of switching to the normal asian civilization like I expected). Is that a bug?
DJSHenninger  [author] 3 Dec, 2013 @ 1:41pm
@Singh The entire Guru concept is removed, so you don't have to worry about that. I think the trait is good as it is right now. I can try to add names for the generals, that's a good idea.
You should understand that changing almost everything basically forms a new mod, lol ;p That's why I can't do that.
Singh 3 Dec, 2013 @ 1:33pm
Also, you could probably duplicate the Japanese specialty for the Civ, where wounded units fight like normal units. That would make sense in terms of lack of Sikh numbers in military vs. larger numbers.

Just some thoughts. Thanks for replying!

I think the idea of having Gurdwara as a building, is an awesome part fo your mod. But instead of focusing on making Gurus as special units, it would be nice to just have two uniques:

Gurdwara - building
Nihang - cavalry unit
Singh 3 Dec, 2013 @ 1:30pm
Military leaders:

Guru Hargobind (6th Guru, who officially started the militarization of the Sikh community)
Guru Tegh Bahadur (9th Guru)
Guru Gobind SIngh (creator of the Khalsa)

Banda Singh Bahadur (first general of the Khalsa army),
Hari Singh Nalwa (commander-in-chief of the Sikh army during Sikh Empire)

Other noted military leaders:

Kharak Singh
Jassa Singh Ahluwalia,
Nawab Kapur Singh,
Sham Singh Atariwala (famous for last stand at Battle of Sobraon vs. the British)

DJSHenninger  [author] 3 Dec, 2013 @ 1:12pm
@Singh I know, but adding such a unit would 'remove' the tactics and stuff I had in mind. This is why I replaced the Guru with another Great Person. I've discussed this with Zumerock, as you can see. It was therefore hard to add a combat unit. Either that, or I should remove the UB and replace it with a cavalry unit.
What I usually do is offer people the chance to choose their Uniques. I could add a combat unit as an alternative choice, which you can manually install.

Thank you for making a Sikh Empire Mod. I have been really excited to play it. I have some comments and suggestions for you below:

While Gurus played a central role in the early development of the Sikh community, the Sikh Empire itself is largely indebted to the guerrilla warfare tactics of Sikh cavalry. In fact, many historical accounts discuss the Sikhs as one of the most skillfull, if not the most skillful warriors, in their ability to fire a gun accurately while on horseback. Being highly effective on horseback with guns, and tactically harrassing their enemy, the Sikhs were able to defeat the threats to their region in Northwest India.

Once the Sikh Empire was formally established by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Ranjit Singh europeanized Sikh forces into elite infantry.

This is why I think you should add either a horseback or infantry unit for the Sikh Empire.
Nope sorry , no luck there.

@Zumerock Hi, I was wondering if there were any kind of military leaders of the Sikh army. If so, what were they called? Instead of the Nihang, I would add these leaders as Great General replacements. It would make a lot more sense. I also don't have to turn this unit into a combat unit. Turning a Great person into a combat unit causes new problems.
Yeah , wow this is hard. I have absolutly no idea sorry.
DJSHenninger  [author] 26 Oct, 2013 @ 6:43am
@Zumerock A unit is expended after making a Holy Site ;P I wish it was possible to give a promotion enabling a unit to build a holy site, but it's beyond my skills. I can only do so much with the type of file I use (which is the easiest to use).
@Davey How about if they are a normal military unit , they are only able to make a certain amount of Holy sites , like perhaps 1? or if thats too overpowered , how about they can get a promotion from military XP? That promotion would be able to make holy sites.
DJSHenninger  [author] 26 Oct, 2013 @ 6:25am
@Zumerock See it like this: I want to enable them to make Holy Sites. If I don't, the UA will become less useful; the current gameplay would no longer work. If I turn them into a military unit, then it would be extremely easy to build holy sites. Thus, the civ would be overpowered.
An Akali Nihang as a Great Person would be harder to acquire, but would still act as a military unit.
Of course, replacing the Gurdwara would solve nothing, since the Guru UU need to go away. That's what this is all about, right?
Or maybe you could replace the Gurudwara with the Akali Nihangs?
@Davey , I understand you're stance on the Fort idea, but the nihang should not be a great person , It should be a unit , We were very involved in the way of Saint-Soldiers so the combining of the 2 UAs would make a ton of sense , I trumendously think that it should be a unit to replace the swordsman and pikemen. As for the fort? that , is totally up to you.
DJSHenninger  [author] 26 Oct, 2013 @ 6:12am
@Zumerock First of all, I want to keep the overall strategy of the civilization. That's why I should make the Nihang a Great Person. It would replace the General, but would be able to build holy sites (this would substitute the current UU's ability). It would also, unlike the Great General, be able to fight. I would use the Songhai UU texture. I like your Sikh Fort idea, but there's no good texture for it. Also, it would change the gameplay of this mod too much.
@Davey A Sikh Fort was called *The forts name* and then the word "Sahib" after it e.g. Anandpur Sahib , it was basically the same as a Gurudwara but Extremeley strong. Perhaps we could name the fort like cities? The Fort should be as strong as a citidel but replace average forts. perhaps like the Nihang it could be both UAs?
@Davey Yes , both the holy site UA and normal UU battle forces would be good. They could be as strong as Swordsmen but replace Pikemen? Horses? Definitly , Nihangs had their own breed of Horse Called the Anmol , a good texture for this unit is the Songhai UU.
DJSHenninger  [author] 26 Oct, 2013 @ 5:31am
@Zumerock My original plan was to include Nihang, but I couldn't find an image I thought was acceptable to turn into an icon. Also, I wanted something special instead of the usual military unit + building combination. I also had trouble with the Nihang regarding what kind of unit it would be, since I saw them on foot, on horses etc.
I can try to change the name and entry of the current UU to Nihang and give it combat abilities next to the ability to build a Holy Site.
Also, I can't find anything about a Sikh Fort. If you happen to have information and an image, I could do something with that.
Other than that, understand that totally changing the mod would not work for the current subscribers. Reply as soon as possible.
If you think removing these 2 things would disable the Sikh Special Ability , then change it. I believe as a sikh myself that if you change the Special Ability to 'Kirpan' it would be good. What is Kirpan? It is a cerimonial knife that MUST be carried by all baptised sikhs for self-defense and justice. The Kirpan ability could be used to give Workers and non-military units two lives? so that E.g if a Military unit attacks a worker , the workers health decreases by half and it can escape. I Strongly suggest as a practicing sikh to change it into what I suggested. I commend the work you have done so far. Thanks.
As for the Guru? It is really not good to use this , The first Guru , Guru Nanak , said to abandon Idolatry and not use the image of the gurus. Making and using the guru in the game is deeply offensive. Maybe you could replace them with Nihangs? Nihangs were an elite fighting force of the sikhs. They could be a Horse-riding unit , that is completely up to you.
Davey , I am a sikh , and I play Civilization V. I'm not a sikh who cuts hair , I keep it. I found some ways you have made this mod a bit offensive but overall nice work. The things I find offensive to the mod are the facts you use 'The Guru' as a unit and also the fact that you use 'The Gurudwara'. I am not really offended by the fact you use a gurudwara but I STRONGLY suggest you replace it with Sikh Forts as military is VERY important to us.
