I have clicked subscribe, but the mod does not download. What can I do to install it?

I've made a small mod which changes the rules of nuclear warfare, but also should fix CTD problem of this one.

Copy and paste into your file search bar:

*** C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\ICBM Nuclear Missile (v 2)\XML\Units ***

Also, notice how you must fill in your username ^


Go to this file with notepad:

*** Unit_InterContinentalBallisticMissile.xml ***

go to edit, and find "range", then change the range from 110, to -1
save the notepad, close it, and run your game.


This will resolve any crashes you may probably have.
It most certainly worked for me.

not sure about anyone else but my game went CTD when I tried to use them (close to max range), so .. can you try to fix the problem? ...(Please ... Itchin' to drop nukes from the middle of the ocean from missle cruisers and Nuclear subs) ..otherwise I have to get close :steamsad:

Works great for me. Is there any chance this missile will have a unique model for itself in the future, so it won't look the same as the regular nuclear missile?

Okay. I have conducted some tests and the mod works fine. However if you play on a modded map (Continents plus, small continents deluxe, etc) it wil crash the game. For the rest it is compatible with most mods. I have +/- 25 running when I play and the only ones that screw up the game are map-pack-mods.

I have this issue where the game crashes when I select nuke-mode. I have the idea thats it due to the map im was using (small continents deluxe). Ill be trying it out on another map later and ill report here so that if others have this issue they might get a clue to what the issue is. My idea atm is that it is due to map compatibility because I have only played this mod on a mod-map.

I don't understand why the game designers didn't provide ICBMs. Nuclear ICBMs could annihilate any city on the planet and their creation reshaped the world but the closest thing Civ V provides has a range that barely covers a Dual map size and is laughable on Standard, Large, and Huge.

Is there anyway to extend the duration of the animation so that you can see it fly all the way to the target. When attacking cities more than 30 tiles away it diappears and does the damage instantly rather than waiting till it arrives.

Update to my "spotty range" comment. Turns out it was because in my information era quick game testing, it won't allow you to launch it near civs you haven't met yet. Works great now

Anyone else have an issue with the range being really spotty? I tried changing it to -1 for unlimited range, then to 90, but it still won't launch everywhere, it has odd stripes and stuff as it's range

Mine crashed in the midst of a game, so I read the instructions. I edited Unit_InterContinentalBallisticMissile.xml as swatmp suggested and set the range to -1 as m4ti140 suggested and I didn't even have to restart my game. I just loaded the last autosave.

It works great with unlimited range, which modern ICBMs have anyway.

Now I noticed the explosion didn't always work, but I'm not sure that is the Mod. My regular atomics didn't explode correctly unless it was centered on the target either. In any event, it still reduces the population and distributes fallout correctly.

swatmp, I'm not sure since I'm not a modder, but basing on what I read about another nuke mod, you may want to try setting the range to -1. This, in theory, should make it global and less crashy.

Worked for me at first. Managed to fend off an invasion with a barrage of ICBMs. Took a break. Reloaded my save. Crashes my game now.

Crashed game one time when I was going to the other saide of the world playing a huge map but next game did some saves and was on a small map, and it worked perfect.

For some reason this mod is not downloading, I had it before but I had to reinstall steam/civV and not it's not downloading/showing up in my mod list.

I like this mod and I want to give it a shot, didn't have the chance to use it the first time I had it.

Can you alter this mod or do a new version of this mod where the ICBM takes 2 turns to detonate? And make it so the civilization that is being attacked, if AI, will launch theirs at you? You know, the whole mutually assured destruction policy. Or make it so you can make a threat to an enemy civ where you say "if you nuke me, I WILL nuke you" kind of thing and if they launch, you have to launch, and the other way around as well.

It seems like with the damage amount and the resource cost being the same as the regular nuclear missile, it should either replace it or these figures should be altered as well. Possibly lower the resource requirements of regular nukes and buff the damage of your missile. This would make nuclear war more devastating which would also improve accuracy.

Hello maybe someone can help me. I am looking for a mod that will make nukes deadly. Bigger and more of them, now they just go boom. I need an EMP blast followed by a blinding flash followed by a shockwave so hot and with so much force it vaporizes everything in a 3-5 mile radius. That would be just great. OH! and the fallout yes, i need much much more of that.

Love the idea...now can you make a 'Hard radiation' mod so nuke damage is more of an issue?
