I encountered a run where I got a SuperSeq X1 at the beginning and was working on making that my main strategy. I got a relic from another mod at the end of Act 1 that gave me a free copy of any card I wanted, so naturally I chose the SuperSeq X1 as my free card. Well, in the next fight, I got the energy to play the power naturally, and despite the character icon saying I would get two Amino Acids at the start of my turn, I only received one. I left the game and disabled the other content mods to make sure this wasn't an interaction with those, and sure enough, when I gave myself two SuperSeq X1s I only received one Amino Acid. I don't think that's the intended interaction considering the icon does show it stacking, but unfortunately that's how it works right now. This also has the effect of making Genetics Lab a slightly worse card, since if you get a second SuperSeq X1 you're essentially getting a really expensive dead card.

Hey, some feedback here. I really like the mod and the general idea of it, but I just can't get further than early stage Act 2, no matter what I try... What I notice is that there are just too little block cards in this mod, but maybe it's just me

@旅渚 I'd be happy to incorporate your localization files. PM me or submit a pull request in GitHub.
旅渚Lastcel 14 Sep, 2021 @ 10:06am
Hello, I like this mod very much. If you don't mind, I'd like to translate it into Simplified Chinese and give you the localization files somehow.
HydraHatRack  [author] 24 Mar, 2020 @ 7:47pm
I've pushed an update that should make the Clintock less buggy after the main game was updated with the new character. Should work with or without the 2.0 compatibility mod.
HydraHatRack  [author] 21 Mar, 2020 @ 9:47am
Daww, thanks <3

Hopefully when I get motivated to finish and release this next mod, you'll enjoy it as well. There are a few similarities (it uses orb mechanics, for example), but thematically it's based on Norse mythology and relies heavily on summons.
Archenassa 21 Mar, 2020 @ 9:35am
Awesome! I'm looking forward to playing your new mod out once it is released. The Clintock is the best. :)
HydraHatRack  [author] 21 Mar, 2020 @ 9:32am
Thanks @Archenassa, good info! I've been out of the loop for a while. I've even got a second mod in the works at about 75% completed that's been sitting in github for a while. I'll take a look at the 2.0 compatibility mod as well as other means to make sure this one is up to date.
Archenassa 18 Mar, 2020 @ 3:52pm
The 2.0 Compatibility mod makes it stop crashing for anyone who needs the info. :)
Bungus 11 Mar, 2020 @ 5:47pm
Great character, sad its crashing.
Archenassa 4 Mar, 2020 @ 6:55am
Hi! This mod keeps crashing since the new character was released, which is a shame because this is by far my favourite mod. Any chance to update it? I know it's a lot of work, but wanted to ask just in case. Anyway, update or not, thanks for that awesome character!
Osirus 29 Feb, 2020 @ 1:30am
Cool class! Really dig the DNA mixing. Doesn't seem to make any progress towards unlocks, though.
SS Slightly 21 Jan, 2020 @ 5:25pm
so possible bug are bases supposed to still cost sugar/phosphate if they are upgraded? they lose the nucleobase tag on card text when upgraded so they're no longer ethereal, but they still cost sugars/phosphates even though nowhere on card text or keyword descriptions does it explicitly state it has additional costs.
HydraHatRack  [author] 8 Oct, 2019 @ 7:46am
Sure, I'd be happy to integrate a zhs localization. You can either submit a PR on GitHub or contact me via PM.
R 8 Oct, 2019 @ 1:54am
I'd like to provide some localization and would you mind to add a zhs one?
Acnor, Dread Footman 13 Aug, 2019 @ 5:05pm
this is glorious honestly the best character mod in sts. good work
Fey Yoshida 4 Apr, 2019 @ 5:27pm
@rooks_tepes agreed. just... avoid making Stop codons if you don't enjoy the puns or the Brakeing bad references
usdaprimebeef 4 Apr, 2019 @ 3:23pm
For those of us Biochemistry/Molec nerds out there, this mod is worth it's weight in palladium and has been a blast to play. Cudos to you HydraHatRack.
Bathios 31 Mar, 2019 @ 8:51pm
I did, and wondered where that had come from, but never put two and two together lol.
HydraHatRack  [author] 31 Mar, 2019 @ 8:33pm
Well nothing bad happens. But if you won that battle, you might have seen a completely-not-clever science pun or Breaking Bad reference.
Bathios 31 Mar, 2019 @ 5:25pm
So, question for the Author. What does getting a stop codon do for you? I made one on purpose, just because i didn't see the combination in the thing and i was curious.
Pip Panoma 16 Mar, 2019 @ 2:21pm
This mod.. hurts my brain.

If you're going to play this prepare for a high skill floor and a lot of different options. You are literally fighting with DNA and the amount of options you have represents that. There is some amazing potential lying there because you theoretically have free access to heals, energy and this mod's replacement for focus. But getting there is the tough part. You'll need to play the right cards in the right order while somehow also surviving. The outscale potential is possibly even greater than the Defect, but the setup also takes that much longer. It is very strategy intensive, takes ages and once you're finally done you can do it all over in the next fight. And it's fun!

Great mod, 5/7 perfect score.
HydraHatRack  [author] 14 Mar, 2019 @ 9:56pm
Again, thanks to everyone for their feedback, and I'll continue to make improvements based on your suggestions!
HydraHatRack  [author] 14 Mar, 2019 @ 9:56pm
Hey all! I just released a new version containing quality of life improvements, bug fixes, and balance changes. See the change notes for a full list. These are my attempts to address several things people have suggested and/or reported over the last few days, with more updates to come in the near future.

The biggest update is a more dynamic amino acid guide that grays out the amino acids you cannot build with the currently linked bases. Hopefully this will make it easier to quickly get the information you need. And if the guide text is too small (and you have a second monitor), I've still got the full list in the README on my GitHub page [github.com].

Another large change is that binding an amino acid will activate the linked bases before converting. This should lessen the penalty in converting bases to amino acids. However, to keep things balanced, I've slightly reduced the base effectiveness of Adenine and Cytosine.
Nacht Sieger 14 Mar, 2019 @ 9:10pm
Is there a way to make the Amino Acid Guide's text larger? As is, it's nearly for me to read unless I squint, or essentially autocomplete game terms by comparing word length and my own memory, and reading the letter combinations is nearly impossible unless I stick my face next to my monitor.
FlameHricane 14 Mar, 2019 @ 6:41pm
The in-game list of the acids should definitely not be in alphabetical order as it is way too scattered to look for a specific mix. I think the order should be alphabetical based on the first letter of the bases (or as close as it can be). Example being you would list every acid that has adenine first then cytosine and so on. In cases where an acid has a different first base like arginine, you could just order it based on it's majority, so it could go around the cytosine ones.
Punished Jax 14 Mar, 2019 @ 11:19am
Hi! Really love the mod so far, great concept and great execution. Just wanted to make you aware of an interaction I found with using multiple copies of SinsheimerT3. One copy played works as normal, giving one energy for each base linked, but each subsequent copy played reduces the energy by one, with 3 copies actually taking away one energy for each base played. I'm not sure if this is a bug or an intended feature to disallow from overpowered energy gain. Thanks and hope this helps!
Fey Yoshida 14 Mar, 2019 @ 9:25am
heeeeyyyyy... just going to warn you that Glutamic acid does not work the way you think it does... it doesn't upgrade cards.
HydraHatRack  [author] 13 Mar, 2019 @ 9:26pm
@joemama1512 I appreciate the feedback. Agreed on a lot of points and will try and address some of this in my next set of balance changes. While I like the idea of players having to weigh whether three bases is better than improving the polypeptide, I do want to decrease the penalization of losing those three bases.

@twentybelowzero There are definitely CTD issues when using mods that provide orbs outside the standard bases. Until I can get around to addressing those issues, my advice would be to try and avoid any cards or relics (outside the Clintock set) that specifically interact with orb slots. I hope to have a better solution soon.
GAME Games 13 Mar, 2019 @ 7:20pm
I noticed a bug with the interaction of changing out the starting relic for a different class, in my case, Cubic Diamond from Infinite Spire, giving me the Iron Core from Replay the Spire. At the beginning of my turn, it spawns a hellfire orb in my first slot. When I try to link Guanine...or any other amino acid, the game crashes.
joemama1512 13 Mar, 2019 @ 11:13am
Finally, the amino powers vary too much in utility. your control over them is limited as you kind of need to play what you draw ASAP. +1 sugar per turn sucks, whereas free plated armor or free DEX is extremely good! Combining to +1 sugar/phosphate would make it much more useful.
joemama1512 13 Mar, 2019 @ 11:13am
I really enjoy this mod. It has grown on me quite a bit. My biggest criticism though is the awkward transition from 3 bases to 1 peptide. You wind up losing some potentially big bonuses like +block, autodamage, etc in exchange for some weak +1 sugar per turn amino acid. Due to sugar/phosphate limits, this can often put you in a bad position where you really dont want to play your base-cards. As you gain Transposons (focus), the problem increases...since they have no effect on the peptides.

I also feel the Bind cards are too weak. Sure +12 block power seems good, but considering how rare you will actually trigger it, its not nearly worth the investment. The double-amino-acid power is ok but you MUST play it ASAP, and the one that doubles existing acids is a dead card a lot of the time. A +5 block on base Linkage power would be a lot better and reliable. A power that doubles any existing or future amino binds would be much more flexible and worthwhile.
HydraHatRack  [author] 12 Mar, 2019 @ 8:57pm
New version released today which includes an amino acid guide available in-game. Just look for the green potion icon in the top panel.

Also, and I haven't said it enough, but thanks to everyone for your comments and suggestions. Keep them coming :)
Gremious 12 Mar, 2019 @ 5:43pm
Honestly, I really like this mod! Great job!

If I had a single complaint to make it's the character-select-screen description.
I know it's not the most immersive character out there but that kills me even more every time pls

Other than that super cool! A little convoluted but discovering and writing down the combos myself, as well as getting the huge rare machines that I forget the names of is fun!
HydraHatRack  [author] 12 Mar, 2019 @ 7:51am
@Reace Sounds juuuust a bit broken haha. I haven't spent a lot of time looking into compatibility with other mods, but it's on my radar. Thanks for the heads up! I know Black Hole and Dead Branch also have a broken combination if you enjoy the chaos.
Azureclown 12 Mar, 2019 @ 7:24am
@HydraHatRack hey author i found a rather over performing combination between transponson cards and black hole( boss relic from hybris mod) you get to play the transponson cards infinite times which makes an infinite amount of damage with miasma fro example!
just letting you know love playing this mode as an biologie student xD
Big Knockers Champion 12 Mar, 2019 @ 1:20am
Really, REALLY loved this mod. So damn well made, and hazmats are cool.
HydraHatRack  [author] 11 Mar, 2019 @ 10:43pm
Hey all, I'll be releasing a new version in the next day or two that adds an easily accessible amino acid guide. My goal is to make binding amino acids feel more strategic. No more codon memorization or looking up base triplets outside the game :)

One note, if you want more control over the bases you acquire, upgrading Base Synthesis is a good start.
OptimusPrimordial 11 Mar, 2019 @ 9:40pm
I play three orbs with minor buffs then play a fourth and the first three disappear to be replaced by +1 sugar per turn. How am I meant to know that would happen? Should I write down the combinations and check my cheat sheet later?
This system is inconvenient, there may be combinations to aim for but the player can't control what they draw so even knowing what each is will often result in the player needing to not play any more orbs or face a bad combination and need to start over.
Charlie 11 Mar, 2019 @ 3:51pm
This is nuts, but in a great way. Tons of fun to play a for a few runs. But the novelty of learning codes ran out after the third run or so, probably not going to play this to high ascensions.
ClimaxingOrange 11 Mar, 2019 @ 5:14am
maybe think about adding a way of telling how many sugars or phosphates a base card costs to make it easier to manage them
Acouphene 11 Mar, 2019 @ 12:20am
Very good mod (3 games played only), I will have fun trying to memorize all the amino acid effects !
Kea 10 Mar, 2019 @ 9:58pm
If you pick up any cards that are intended for the Defect I.e channel orbs the game will CTD.
好老弟 10 Mar, 2019 @ 9:18pm
well
ClimaxingOrange 10 Mar, 2019 @ 6:03pm
love the mod, keep up the good work!
HydraHatRack  [author] 10 Mar, 2019 @ 2:41pm
@BeagleJack, which mods in particular have you had issues? I can put a warning in the top of the description until I have time to look into them.
BeagleJack 10 Mar, 2019 @ 12:58pm
This mod doesn't play well with other mods that affect focus, orb slots, etc. There's some compatibility issues which may be absent running this mod only, but, other mods cash CTDs, and save corruption.
BeagleJack 10 Mar, 2019 @ 9:04am
If you need testing / help balancing this mod, feel free to message me. I have a strong interest in game balance and mod-making, and am a former progamer.
Dig Bog 10 Mar, 2019 @ 4:31am
About to try the Clintock out, pretty excited, feeling pretty good they'res amazing people uploading slay the spire hero's~ i wish the game was mobile so i could kill time with that, literally! haha have a gUUUUUd day:praisesun::insfist:
Rockanhe 10 Mar, 2019 @ 12:02am
Haven't even tried it yet, but have my like for not only making a good new character and deck but adding a good touch of humor
