I do feel like the repair truck should be baseline (maybe minus the reinforcing and the active ability), and that Steel Typhoon should get an off-map artillery instead. The idea of having to bring back vehicles to base is neat, but kind of finicky in practice.

One day, or not. Perhaps the Advanced Powers folks will lend you some assistance since they do have one of the most solid Japan factions it's just sadly part of a massive mod rather than separate.

@Sinisterisrandom I have trouble contacting the main author of this mod so things are probably not going to happen on his side. I also don't have the latest source code of the mod which means if I continue the mod, the most recent changes would be lost

I know this is a relatively old mod. However is there any future plans to update the mod to introduce other vehicles such as the Type-5 Ho-Ri, I-Go, and other vehicles?

Join us on Coh3 discord to help make a Japanese faction expansion happen, it's getting better with ever new update surprisingly. Japan is wanted bad by a lot of people and Relic has said all fronts are on the table for expansions. Plus Relic has planned to support Coh3 as long they did Coh2.

Jackson- that's a pretty impressive project!
Harridan- thank you for the constructive feedback! OKW has the same number of units in the HQ, but it feels more restrictive for Japan. The faction wasn't designed like this originally, and I could certainly see the early techs getting reorganized again. It was mentioned on discord that 7.7mm feels too must-pick at the moment as well. Late game AT has been a struggle to balance, because buffing only one unit might make it too important. Gyokusai and the Coordinated Strike Zone are tricky to use. I've been looking at adding a late-game global upgrade, but haven't settled on the design. I also want Japanese infantry squads to keep more power as they lose soldiers.

I like this mod, really I do, but could you maybe not make it so that the MG and AT team aren't recruited from the same building as your base infantrymen? I mean you have Two buildings which basically recruits only One unit each. Like why have only one building where I can only build Snipers and another that can only build Mortars. Infantry Spam early game is hard to deal with because I can't get more infantry out fast enough. Other than that, fun mod, 'cept for the late game tank battles, the struggle to just kill a T-34 is sad.

Gates of Hell: Ostfront has a mod that has dozens of fully modeled/usuable Japanese vehicles and infantry types, and the same for smaller factions like Italians and Finnish. It has more realistic weapon ranges, and you can switch between traditional RTS and controlling a single vehicle or infantry.

Another commander is definitely possible. The new commander would be based on Manchukuo, as suggested. It would require a new selection system, like the one used in FunnyFruit's Forgotten Ally mod. He also designed a few new units for this mod.

Btw if this mod was ever to be expanded to include other factions (or sub-factions), I'd still be in favour of seeing some Manchukuo and/or Mengjiang troops included. They were definitely relevant to the Sino-Japanese conflict. If you didn't want to make a whole faction for them, maybe a commander for the Japanese faction would be enough? I wrote my thesis on the Manchukuo armed forces, so if you'd need any sources on them, I'd be happy to help.

Here's my fingers crossed for the day we see it combined with a China mod. The Sino-Japanese War gets almost no attention in video-games, so it'd be awesome to see this mod cover that field :)

There isn't a way to play Wehrmacht at the moment, but FunnyFruit (the Forgotten Ally dev) showed me the code for his system and I'm likely to switch to that in the future.

Is there a way to switch to Wehrmacht despite having the mod enabled? The Forgotten Ally mod seems to have switching between the Chinese and Soviets down so I thought it might be good to have the same mechanic with this mod. Thanks!

There are plans to have a combined version this mod and Forgotten Ally (the China mod) in the future.

For bulletins, that's a good question- they haven't been edited, so only a few of them will work properly. It should probably go on the to-do list, but deciding which bulletins apply to what and the sheer number of bulletins have made it low priority for me so far. I'm not a fan of the system either. But I'll consider that for a later patch.

I have tested all German doctrines to see which IJF strategy lies underneath. Here are the current results (listed by in-game inventory):

The bugged ones give you either no abilities or a single misplaced one (German ,not IJF). My guess is they were supposed to turn into Prototype Strategy, as it does not seem to appear anywhere. It should be fixed.

New Update: Patch-related problems have been fixed. Some German commanders now become different Japanese commanders, check the guide or images for changes.

problem some of the doctorines arent the one there suppose to be and one isnt available like the jeager armour isnt the prototype armour doc its the one with the builders doc and the mobile defense is the naval doc
