the better solution is set grain as resources, then create MRE as military equipment production using grain,which can be stockpile just like guns planes and tanks.

Whenever I import grains from other countries, my stockpile isn't affected and I'm still in food shortages. Is this a glitch or is there something I'm not doing? I have plenty of civilian factories.

You might be able to make fuel work unmodified as in the vanilla game and still grow and stockpile food. I have a stockpile system that works that I just released for beta testing. If you add a resource type called food, you can use my stockpile code as part of a comprehensive food management system. @Drowse Something weird is happening with the mod..for some reason it keeps going between one and zero even though nothing is using up the food (Armies are stopped, Navies are anchored in harbor, planes are landed at airfields)

Sadly no. How the fuel system is hard coded by Paradox there can only be one resource stockpiled at a time

I appreciate you taking the time to ask my questions. It's a weird part of being self taught; I understand certain parts well enough, and know that there are just some things I don't know understand. Still it seems like something that wouldn't be the case.

other stockpiles work differently. I could make the grain be used for production like other resources but that's not really what I wanted to do for this mod

it's a totally different system. Fuel is it's own system seperate from any other stockpile. There can be only 1 "Fuel" , in vanilla it's oil and here it's grain

"FUEL_RESOURCE = "oil", -- resource that will give country fuel" This is the code that controls which resource gets stockpiled

Are you actually kidding me? The there can only be one "fuel-like" resource to stockpile in the game? Jesus Christ, they spent long enough on this DLC you think they would actually allow modders to create additional ones alongside it, ya know, like they implied.

Sadly resources have to be hand placed in the state files which causes conflicts with mods that edit the vanilla states. I'm going to release a light version of this mod soon though doesn't modify the state files but instead randomly places Grain resources which should make it more compatible with Total Conversion mods.

In the meantime you can try it but I can't guarantee it'll work

You shoud remember that the biggest exporter of grain was soviet union and other baltic countries. Germany was the biggest importer before 1936, after that they had to ration so they created special branch of ministry of agriculture (i suggest to add national spirit like india has, insuficient food quantity that gave some huge debufs but after invading poland for example that spirit will be removed.

slavman420boris....the USSR was importing food....it could import food from any country and it has the money to pay for it. The thing is that the USA wanted their gold so they got that business.

If we consider historical accounts of low rations for Soviet troops and German troops, and a seemingly endless food production for Americans We can foresee That Germany and Russia shouldn't be able maintain their larger armies without seizing some sort of foreign food sources. In the case of Russia it might be that their food shortages came from the loss of the Ukraine during the war, or the rapid mobilisation of millions of men. If all else fails you can check out some older resource mods that have food as a resource and see where they put it on the map.
