No need to apologize i frankly do not understand what the stormworks devs have been doing the past few years. Seems like some players also are starting to get pissed with the petions and whatnot.

Philadelphia Collins, good to know, thanks for telling me!
Sorry you had to go through all these gyrations to use it :steamfacepalm:

hi Gerunimo, just wanna say that the calypso is absolutely amazing. I actually got it to work with a workaround by installing an older game version, before the devs once again broke the calypso. Looking forward to your update though. I probably spent four hours this afternoon just driving this thing through shitty weather and taking the helo for a spin every once and again. Just fyi currently when spawning the ship via the spawner mission it starts to sink at the stern after a few minutes.

Philadelphia Collins,
Don't worry I am working on updates for it, when it is done I will be sure to reupload them.
I appreciate your patience, and glad you have enjoyed it before!
Philadelphia Collins 26 Sep, 2024 @ 11:58pm
loved this thing years ago, currently cannot start the engine because the air pressure does not go above 0.55 and the air start valves cannot be moved

pfmamber, I understand and I appreciate your excitement!
Work, and family keep me very busy. When I have the time it will get fixed and updated.
Thank you for your understanding.

Sorry I don't mean to keep bothering you
mat5theman237 10 Jan, 2024 @ 8:59am
Ok thanks so much and I think I will most likely make a car of some sort because now that I think about making a big boat I sounds like it will be pretty hard to do
GERUNIMO  [author] 9 Jan, 2024 @ 8:39pm
pfmamber, first and probably foremost. A ship/boat is a BIG undertaking, it could well take you months to get it completed. So to avoid the preverbal "Stormworks burn out", pick a project you are truly excited about, otherwise it might never get done.
mat5theman237 9 Jan, 2024 @ 8:57am
Dang I didn't think the author to thank me bro I love this mod and I hope you have a great day I wanted to start making some cool boat and deep sea exploration boat and I was wondering if you could give me some tips
GERUNIMO  [author] 6 Jan, 2024 @ 12:06pm
pfmamber, thank you very much, it means alot!
Please don't feel compelled to do that in the future however.
I'm not trying to appear ungrateful, please don't take it as such. I'm sure you can find a better use for them then I can. ;)

My pleasure :). And yes meredith999 I've been aware of this ship for a long time, but seeing the effort put into this vessel, and over all this time, i felt i had to say smth.
meredith999 11 Mar, 2023 @ 2:17am
i do love this ship and askur the ship is probaly close to 1000 years old in the game but she works perfectly

Voyager621, ok I think I got it now. Yes "Flank" speed will consume fuel at a high rate. That is intentional. Like I said, I reduced their efficiency recently as I try to induce a certain amount of cause and effect into my builds. In the real world cruising around at high speeds would not only decrease range but also increase engine/part wear. Remember Calypso before Cousteau owned her was a Coastal Minesweeper. Never intended to cross oceans without refueling. Keeping the throttles at or around 0.88 will provide enough range to cross about 80+km at a speed of about 12 knots. So you'll either need to fuel up before setting out on a long voyage or reduce speed. The same things a real boat Captain would have to take into account on a long voyage as well. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other question, take care!
Voyager621 13 Sep, 2021 @ 3:26pm
I actually didnt have the purifier turned on hah as far as i can tell with 1 60kw Generator going and at full ahead its burning about %10 of the main tanks every 30-45min give or take a few
GERUNIMO  [author] 13 Sep, 2021 @ 7:13am
Voyager621, wow that is outrageous! While fuel efficiency was reduced by me recently, it shouldn't be THAT bad. I'll take a look and see if something weird is happening. One question, do you also have the Oil Purifier turned on?
Voyager621 11 Sep, 2021 @ 10:07pm
It seems the fuel consumption has gone way up recently, i can burn through the daily use and reserve tanks in 10 minutes or so with 1 genny and the 2 mains going at cruise speed. Or am i doing something wrong lol
Adh4sive Motors 4 Apr, 2021 @ 10:16am
oki ty thank you
GERUNIMO  [author] 4 Apr, 2021 @ 1:26am
monticue, it is, but it requires certain things to be running and present to function; i.e. "fresh" water in the water heater and all doors and hatches closed. Be mindful that generating enough fresh water does take some time. However, if you need there is cold weather clothing in the Captain's Cabin and down in the hold. Also alternatively you can take a shower and that will warm you as well. Hope that helps.
Adh4sive Motors 3 Apr, 2021 @ 4:24pm
is the ship arctic ready with heaters?
sberge84 12 Mar, 2021 @ 5:11pm
Youre the man! Although I think the new mod engine update wouldve probably helped it too lol. I appreciate the fix my dude
GERUNIMO  [author] 8 Mar, 2021 @ 7:59pm
sberge84, alright Sir all fixed up! Thank you very much for letting me know, I hope everything works out for you now. Last thing we both need is you having an engine fire while fueling! :D
GERUNIMO  [author] 8 Mar, 2021 @ 7:01pm
sberge84, found the problem, originally the Calypso had just one 6-71 generator, it ran at a much lower RPM and therefore required less cooling. Now that both generators run at a higher RPM they require more cooling and only the Main Engines ran the discharge pumps, so you can see the problem. Anyway, I'll fix it and post the update. Thanks again for letting me know!
GERUNIMO  [author] 8 Mar, 2021 @ 6:35pm
sberge84, thanks for letting me know! I'll take a look and hopefully fix it.
sberge84 8 Mar, 2021 @ 6:16pm
Yes sir, sea chests were full and drains closed. I was at a refueling depot and shut down the mains and left a single 6-71 running to keep 60kw power going at a minimum. After about 10-15 mins, the engine erupted in flames due to overheating. Even had the engine room ventilator going. I was able to repair it, but...it seems they dont cool unless youre either underway or the mains are operating. Im guessing right now, just thought I'd let you know. Perhaps you can recreate this scenario.
GERUNIMO  [author] 7 Mar, 2021 @ 9:17pm
sberge84, The GM 6-71 generators and the GM 8-268a Main Engines are water cooled and will require the 'Sea Chests' to be filled always to prevent over heating. The GM 2-71 is air cooled and does not require any outside cooling. Make sure the 'Sea Chests' are full and the Drain is closed/off. The Drains are open when the ship spawns, this prevents sea water from 'damaging' the 'Sea Chests'. Hope that helps!
sberge84 7 Mar, 2021 @ 2:04pm
Maybe I'm missing something, but I cant moor and leave any of these generators running without risking them overheating. Am I doing something wrong?
GERUNIMO  [author] 6 Mar, 2021 @ 8:38am
MOST RECENT UPDATE: 06 MAR 2021
- Rebuilt and the entire Generator and Main Propulsion arrangement to make the ship more realistic*. At long last!
*Notes:
- Range greatly increased
- The main engines no longer produce electrical power
- The ship now has TWO 6-71 Generators, both must be running to provide enough power to the ship when all systems are running.

ENJOY!
GERUNIMO  [author] 6 Feb, 2021 @ 4:18am
MOST RECENT UPDATE: 06 FEB 2021
*All changes were done to make the ship more realistic, pictures are available above that show changes in appearance and location of some of gauges and valves.

- Made several changes around the ship to create a more realistic appearance
- Rebuilt the Fuel System, all engines/generators now draw from daily use tanks
- Added Fuel Oil Filter System, which pumps fuel to the Daily Use Tanks *Note Picture for location of Controller
- Changed the refrigeration system to reflect values of a period R-12 refrigerant system. Screw you Ozone Layer! :D
- Rebuilt Heading Hold autopilot to allow heading changes and reduced it's effectiveness
- Added 'moving map' to Radio room table that allows plotting and will drift over time without re-verifying your position. Read 'Map Table Usage' description above
- Moved Fuel Tank Gauges to outside the ship in the refueling hatches to simulate dip sticks

ENJOY!
