Can you double-check that you are using the latest version of the mod - 5.1.1? I just updated it a few hours ago with a fix. Let me know if it still doesn't work with the latest version.

Ah I see I see, I wonder when steam is gonna overhaul the workshop considering what a mess it is.

It's the complexity of having multiple versions of the same mod for multiple Rimworld versions in one download. On GitHub all previous versions exist in separate zip-files. Steam Workshop does not support that, so the one mod i upload here needs to support all versions in one. Definitely doable, but i'd rather not. Especially not for older versions that most people don't play on anymore. Less time for missing nowadays, so i try and keep things simple. I hope downloading an older versions from GitHub can work for you. Glad you're enjoying the mod ☺️

Correct, it supports 1.5 and 1.6 going forward. However, if you're still on 1.4 and want to continue using it, you can download any of the older versions from the Releases on GitHub (linked in description).

Yeah, you can configure that in the mod settings.

does it say when it levels down, if not can you add an option please, with maybe a different sound effect

And found it. Noticed in my config files had another mod that was using the mod settings class "LevelUp.Settings", so tried disabling that one and now this one shows up. It's the Level This! mod, which weirdly enough, I was using together with this no problem in 1.4. So no idea why things stopped working :/

Okay, definitely a mod conflict. Doing that generated the config file and I could access the mod options in game now, when I reloaded the previous mod list, the options no longer show, even though the game shows the mod as loaded. Weird. Now the fun part of trying to figure out *which* mod is doing it

And if you remove all other mods, and only start with Level Up and Harmony? Just to ensure there isnt a conflict with some other mod

Yup, that's correct. Weird issue to be having, I haven't seen it happen on any other mods I'm using, even others I've only just installed. Probably just my PC being weird, nothing to do with the mod itself, given no one else seems to be having that issue of the config not generating >.<

I'm not aware of any issues. When you say you cannot access the config in game, you mean Level Up options doesn't show in the mod options?

Is there any known reason why the mod config file would refuse to generate? Have tried unsubbing and resubbing to Steam multiple times, tried downloading from Github and using it as a local mod instead (while unsubbed from Steam), made sure to delete the old config that I copied over from my old HDD when I was still on 1.4. But every time I launch the game, it still doesn't generate the config file, nor can I access the mod options in game. But the game does say the mod is loaded, which is just weird

Found a file named Mod(blah, blah numbers)LevelUpMod. Deleted that, appears to have fixed it. Thanks ^^ Also found some files for mods I don't recall downloading, are are not in my content folder, so should prolly delete those too XD (some are just called "mod" though which is kinda disconcerting. I assume if I delete those, they will repopulate if they exist for a thing..)

The mod settings are not located with the mod, its saved in something like AppData/Local/Ludeon Studios/Config/mod settings etc. Don't remember exactly, I'm away from my pc atm. There should be a file named something like ModSettings_LevelUp. Removing that and restarting will recreate a working version of it again.

Yeah, I have been upgrading to 1.5 to update my mod, and reverting back 1.4 a few times since they released the unstable. Has not really been an issue (other than having to run verification on the fines) until this last time. I guess you updated Level Up between the last time and the most recent, since it threw up all these issues.

I already tried deleting the mod (removing any leftover files in the content folder) and re-downloading he mod, but the issues persisted.

I'll try the Github version later, see if that fixes it

Hmm... Did you by any chance load Level Up in a 1.5 game, and then switched to 1.4 and loaded it there? The mod settings are not compatible going 1.5-.14. That could be the issue you're experiencing. Can you try and delete the mod settings file?

Not sure what you changed for 1.5, but you totally broke 1.4 doing so. With just Level up and Harmony (it's dependant) running, it's throwing up dozens of red errors:

I pushed a fix for it just a few minutes ago. Could you make sure the new version of the mod has been downloaded, restart Rimworld, and see if you still get the error?

UPDATE

- Adds support for 1.5
- Fixes bug where getting multiple level at once, as with Neurotrainers or aptitude genes, shows the wrong level in the message

If you are playing on 1.3 or 1.4, nothing should change for you.
If you are playing on 1.5 and have previous mod settings for Level Up - your settings will be reset. If this is you and you want to keep the settings, make sure to note them down before updating so you can re-add them again afterwards.

Lastly - 1.5 is planned to be released within the next few weeks. This mod will drop support for 1.3 and 1.4 shortly after, so if you intend to keep playing on any of those versions, make sure you download the latest compatible version from GitHub instead: https://github.com/krafs/LevelUp/releases/tag/v4.1.0

Yeah, that's how Rimworld calculates text size. But I am glad you found a message that works now :)

@krafs I shortened up the message (less formatting as well as different words) and no more line wrapping! I'm guessing it was Rimworld interpreting the formatting as "real" characters to display

This mod is purely cosmetic - it does not modify how leveling works. I'm also pretty sure vanilla doesn't give melee xp for research, so it's probably a different mod you're using.

why are my pawns earning melee skills for researching? Does this happen in vanilla or is the mod affecting it?

Customizing the message should not break anything, unless you're changing the font size or maybe using a lot of different tags on a lot of text. I think that could make Rimworld think the text is longer than it seems, and e.g. wrap early. This is mostly just speculation though.

@krafs I have customized the message a bit. Mainly color and formatting, but also tweaked the wording a little. I'll reset to default next time I play.

Hard to say. It doesn't sound specifically related to LevelUp at least. Maybe try reinstalling Rimworld and clearing all caches? Sorry, it's really hard to troubleshoot something like this.

nah i tested just using level up it just has no advanced options, ive had this problem with a lot of mods and never been able to figure out why its really annoying, usually uninstalling and reinstalling the mod fixes it but i dont have a clue what would do it

Are you using mods that your friend isn't using? What happens if you disable all mods except Level Up (and Harmony) - does it still happen? If not, you are probably using a mod that is doing something to the mod options menu.

for some reason the mod has no advanced options for me the page is just blank whereas my friend has custom options, ive tried reinstalling the mod multiple times and different things but hasnt solved anything, any ideas on what it might be?

Hmm... hard to say. Do you have a custom message, or the one that comes by default in the mod?

The text message (which appears in the top left corner) tends to do awkward line wrapping for me, but other, longer, messages (like from the vanilla game) don't wrap. Any ideas?
