you mind sending a link @Psycho?

This and the other two simple chain mods work fine in 1.5 using ViralReaction´s Processor Framework

Awesome mod which i've been used for many runs. The one issue i faced recently is Bloomery can't be made out of Rose Quartz chunks from Alpha Biomes mod, is it supposed to be like that or need to patch?
tabakista 14 Apr, 2024 @ 1:45am
Can we have 1.5 update, please?
Monkey Magic 8 Mar, 2024 @ 8:09am
A lot friendlier than Simple Chains: Leather, in that it will not spew out a bunch of red X graphic errors for when added to an existing save, but bare in mind that if you do add this mod to a pre-existing save, although your steel deposits will change to iron, your only sources of coal will be through trade, and meteorites.
Demi 28 Jan, 2024 @ 7:06pm
i think it would be nice to be able to choose preferred refueling material on refuel-able building because its really annoying seeing them waste a shit ton of coal on torches when its has the exact same fuel efficiency as wood
Jet 22 Dec, 2023 @ 12:02pm
id add this but if i use it with the lumber mod building will be impossible in caravans. I mean how would you make an emergency building to fight off an infection or arrest a prisoner
Title Fight Enjoyer 5 Dec, 2023 @ 2:27am
are all simple chains mods safe to uninstall mid game?
lol 8 Nov, 2023 @ 9:09am
Suggestion: bloomery to emit heat during work (as smelter does).
Monkey Magic 19 Aug, 2023 @ 9:24am
@l33tmaan - FTR - You can make firewood at the Crafting Spot , albeit at a slower pace. But it should suffice enough for you to get your pawns started. As for coal, the requirement is only to refine steel from iron in the Bloomery and unless you have some unique scenario that:

- does not involve a drop-pod start
- has transport drop pods disabled
- has resource drops disables
- has zero scattered slag chunks for some reason

...then there should be no issue getting started using alternate sources.

Personally, I play with Completely Clueless and Primitive Research so I have more than two researches before I could refine steel in earnest. But even with the Simple Chains: Steel own coal deposits (my map did not spawn any, but there was a meteor) I have not yet needed to refine steel from iron

Turns out this mod disables the coal recipe in favor of Apothecary's charcoal. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but during neolithic runs I have to research two technologies and do a bunch of stonecutting to get that charcoal, and in the meantime I can't make campfires due to having Simple Lumber installed... it might be a good idea to make an exception for Apothecary so you can keep the earlier recipe.
Monkey Magic 5 Aug, 2023 @ 5:45am
"Coal is bundled with this mod, but it is only used if it detects you do not yet have a coal-adding mod."

Pretty sure I don't have any mods that add coal, so are you responsible for the coal meteorite that impacted just a short way away from my settlement? 8S
Selne 10 May, 2023 @ 11:54am
Can you deep drill coal?
J. Amadeu L.P. 3 May, 2023 @ 1:04pm
Is it possible to remove the generation of coal in mountains and underground, leaving only charcoal as an option for making steel?
Not that it breaks my game, just my immersion, since Rimworld takes place in a recently terraformed planet, and mineral coal takes millions of year to form...
Owlchemist  [author] 24 Apr, 2023 @ 1:51am
Well I use SoS2 myself, so that at least is fine.
Other than that I've never heard of any conflicts like this. This is a pretty smple, pure-XML mod so there usually isn't much in the way of difficult troubleshooting usually.
cptnoname 24 Apr, 2023 @ 1:44am
does this conflict with SoS2, RimNauts or Universum? I recently added those 3 and suddenly my smelters can't locate stockpiled coal or iron
Jan 2 Apr, 2023 @ 6:28am
Found a workaround with XML editing, but thought I'd mention there's an incompatibility with https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2859334065 . That mod adds some new chunk types that can't be used by your mod and that's all I had on my map.

Possibly also noticing incompatibility with the metals version of Expanded Materials, because it adds a type of charcoal I can't use. Hasn't been much of an issue so far though, because I can also create the kind I do need.
Richard Mc Nutbuster 26 Mar, 2023 @ 6:31am
set it up manually in the quarry mod
PaladinWaffles 24 Mar, 2023 @ 4:27pm
Is there a patch for this and the quarry mod? When using the quarry you get steel, not iron.
Bruh2096 24 Mar, 2023 @ 3:41pm
I can't find any coal in a mountain in a new game. It also won't allow me to use or refuel the bloomery if I have wood logs.
Owlchemist  [author] 21 Mar, 2023 @ 11:56am
Coal just generates around the same abundance as iron lumps, found in mountains/hills or via deep drilling. Of course, ore generation is only for newly generated maps so it won't work mid-save. You can sue Mid-saver Saver to retroactively generate coal though, in the event you added this mod mid-save.
marco2000b 21 Mar, 2023 @ 11:44am
do coal even generate on the map ? i seem i can only craft coal out of wood
marco2000b 20 Mar, 2023 @ 12:10pm
wher do i find coal
Kasa 5 Mar, 2023 @ 3:48pm
Ah well, not help for it I guess.
Kasa 5 Mar, 2023 @ 3:47pm
Sorry, brain fart I meant to say Iron INSTEAD of steel.

I tend to use your mod along other mods that has me consuming steel much faster then I am able to acquire it, and I've completely tabbed most of the iron on my map along with coal and trees.
Owlchemist  [author] 5 Mar, 2023 @ 3:47pm
Ah, well no not really. Those buildings just have set costs, they don't have a selectable material.
Kasa 5 Mar, 2023 @ 3:46pm
Sorry, brain fart I meant to say Iron INSTEAD of steel.
Owlchemist  [author] 5 Mar, 2023 @ 3:21pm
Not sure what you mean, they all use steel instead of iron. Nothing is made of iron except for a few stuffables where you can select the material.
Kasa 5 Mar, 2023 @ 3:19pm
Would it be possible to change some vanilla recipes that use iron to use steel instead?
For example windmills and such?
Justfly 22 Feb, 2023 @ 8:12am
okay, thanks :)
Owlchemist  [author] 20 Feb, 2023 @ 5:54pm
If you remove it, the only real consequence would be the coal disappearing. Could leave a few holes in the mountain.
Justfly 20 Feb, 2023 @ 9:56am
can I remove the mod even though I have a saved game??
Justfly 10 Feb, 2023 @ 11:57pm
yea.. of corse.. but i use Rimfactory and Vanilla Ex. Mechanoids .. and im not sure, if i can implimentate this mod, in there
Owlchemist  [author] 10 Feb, 2023 @ 9:28pm
The regular vanilla smelter also works btw, it's like the faster industrial version.
Justfly 10 Feb, 2023 @ 9:00pm
Nice Mod Idea, but when u play with much mods ( reeeeeally big steal consumption ) the small furnace is annoying.. maybe if you could tie it into automated processes like rimfactory

but nice idea for primitiv players :)
CHEEKI BREEKI 17 Jan, 2023 @ 6:04pm
Thanks dude
CHEEKI BREEKI 17 Jan, 2023 @ 5:14pm
Is there any way to stop coal from being used for refueling, I kept producing large amounts to make steel and I'd look back 10 seconds later and it'd all be gone lol
Owlchemist  [author] 9 Jan, 2023 @ 10:30am
No idea there boss. I been using the electronic smelter just fine for uhhh years now. It's a pretty old and relatively stable mod lol. Check your bill settings and area restrictions etc
Blitzmo 9 Jan, 2023 @ 9:34am
update:the bills from the Bloomery can still be used normally, though please fix the smelter fast.Your mod is amazing. Thanks
Blitzmo 9 Jan, 2023 @ 9:28am
Also i'm using the bundled coal
Blitzmo 9 Jan, 2023 @ 9:26am
There seems to be a some sort of bugs with the steelmaking bill from the electric smelter.I have both the coal and the steel but when it try to force a pawn to do it in the smelter,it said the bill is missing coal and steel
-Mikhail- 15 Dec, 2022 @ 10:53pm
Can I request that the mandatory coal requirement for the electric smelter be removed? Make coal optional.
Owlchemist  [author] 15 Dec, 2022 @ 2:25pm
Not a bug, it's just what steel is. It's the mixing of iron and carbon (coal in this case, though in some industries the use charcoal or other carbon alternatives).
