Because it's one file containing all those tracks and back when I released it, AoE wasn't able to use multiple soundtrack files.
I don't know editing of audio files - which would have been necessary back then to remove one track - today I could get all tracks seperate and add them - which I am planning to do - so removing/replacing and adding single tracks will be much more easy then.

Yes, all soundtracks do so. When the last track is over (or there is a gap inbetween the numbers of a track and the next one), it automatically restarts with playing track one.
Steevie Weevie 9 Sep, 2014 @ 11:46pm
hey does it loop when it is done?
coz i have games that go for about 4 hours!

AoE has a very 'limited' sound system.

It starts with xmusic1 and plays all other tracks in their numbered order - xmusix2, xmusic3,... If there is a gap or no further file fitting this naming syntax, it restarts from the beginning.

Is there no xmusix1, you won't hear anything. AoE can't play random order or something else.

Therefore most soundtrack mods do overwrite each other. If there is nothing stated in my mods, they start with xmusic1 and therefore aren't compatible with other mods doing the same.
Ozhara  [author] 9 Apr, 2014 @ 10:43pm
All other mods have a part in their description telling you where they start and with which other mods they are supposed to work with.

But you can easily assemble your own soundtrack from the mods, their archive file is in AoE\mods. It's an extensionless zip file, so you can extract them and put whatever tracks you want together by renaming them properly.

Beside this I can do such a mod for you, but I have several open requests left and are working on a first mod for AoM at the moment, so this may take some time.

would i be able to download multiply of your soundtracks and they will still all play or will it get rid of the ones that have already been downloaded?
Cekkaaaaaaaa 5 Mar, 2014 @ 12:14am
Np mate, you are great! :D
Ozhara  [author] 23 Feb, 2014 @ 6:05am
I'll add it to my list. :)
I just can't promise when to publish it for I have several other open requests left and work was slower than before last weeks.

Hello mate, i don't know how to contact you via steam, so I'll write here, me and my friends think that an halo (probably Halo 2) would be absolutely amazing for the game, can you do something about that?
Fuey88 26 Jan, 2014 @ 5:46pm
Thanks for replying, ill try that :)
Ozhara  [author] 26 Jan, 2014 @ 2:10am
Beside this, I could do such a mod for you, but for my list of requested soundtracks is pretty long, this would take some time - at least 2 weeks I think.
Ozhara  [author] 26 Jan, 2014 @ 2:07am
It is. :)

But in case they are not thought to do so from their description, you have to do this manually or by using my mod manager.

After subscribing one of the mods you want to mix (and it's download finished), start your game one time. You should be able to see the mods archive file popping up in your AoE\mods folder.

(I wouldn't recommend to subscribe all mods at the same time just for it massivly increases the size of data AoE has to handle at one time then.)

The mod archives are extensionless zip files, extract them to where you want, but it has to be a seperate folder for each mod, otherwise they would try to overwrite each other, as they would do by simply subscribing to all of them.

AoE searches your AoE\sound\music fodler for the soundtrack. It starts with xmusic1.mp3. If that file isn't there, you won't hear anything. When that track is over AoE increases the number, searching for xmusic2.mp3, and so on. In case there is no file with number + 1 left, AoE restarts plying xmusic1.mp3. So a gap in numbers will also rstart the previous files immediatelly.

Now name all extracted tracks you want to have so they have the right order and copy them to your AoE\sound\music folder. That's it.

But save the files somewhere, every time you verify your game cache, these files will be resetted, for your personal order isn't bound to any mod. So you have to change the files after every verification.

By using my mod manager, you can create your own 'mod', re'installing' it with just one click. But this is an expert feature, so read the manual before doing this. :)

Is it possible to get 2 of your soundtrack mods working at the same time?
Ozhara  [author] 23 Dec, 2013 @ 7:58am
Glad to hear so. :)
Enjoy gaming!
Haxfromhell 23 Dec, 2013 @ 7:55am
Reinstalling the mod and then waiting for it to fully extract seems to have worked. Thanks.
Ozhara  [author] 22 Dec, 2013 @ 10:17pm
You have to do the following:
1) Wait until the download finished.
2) Don't cancel the intro before the chess part as at that time mods will be extracted.
--> If the sound isn't there after that, it may be too large to be extracted while one intro (extraction stops when the chess video starts, regardless of unextracted mod data), try a second restart without canceling the intro too early.
--> I read in some other soundtrack comments, you might have to start one random match and close the game to kind of 'activate' the sound. I don't know if that is related to one of the points above or some weird bug.
Ozhara  [author] 22 Dec, 2013 @ 10:17pm
I experinced myself soundtracks to be the buggiest kind of mods. If nothing helps, go to your AoE\mods folder and have a look for its archive file. It's an extensionless zip file, so you can easily open it up and extract its contents to your AoE directory overwriting the sound folder.

For this mod just contains one file and Skylabs splittet up AoEs soundtrack with FE from 1 into 20 files, by not deleting file xmusic2.mp3-xmusic20.mp3 in your AoE\sound\music folder, you will hear AoEs track 2-20 after this collection.
Haxfromhell 22 Dec, 2013 @ 9:45pm
Quick question. Im sure you get many of these questions asking the same this but I can't get this to work at all. I kind of followed some of the other comments and what you asked them to do, but I can't seem to peice it together. Having subscribed to the mod, how would one get the music to begin playing?
Mirhow22 3 Dec, 2013 @ 2:18pm
thank you
Ozhara  [author] 3 Dec, 2013 @ 12:30am
Just click unsubscribe and verify your game cache, that will completelly remove this mod and restore the default soundtrack.
Mirhow22 2 Dec, 2013 @ 4:42pm
how do i remove it

It does, list added in th dscription.
Adamal123 24 Aug, 2013 @ 1:23pm
I think for both copyright and just so people can know what songs are playing, you should add a list of the songs and who they're by. Doesn't the youtube link provide it?
