"Your roads in your territory are also upgraded once you reach Modern Era AND have researched the technology."

Is there any way to avoid this behaviour, or is this just an inevitable consequence of making rail into a regular type of road?

Yes it's intended though it's a side-effect of making Railroad a "normal" Road level. I described the behavior in the description.

Every single one road within my territory got upgraded to a railroad at some point in the game. Is this intended behaviour? I researched steampower and traders started building railroads as expected until at some point, all of my roads within my territory suddenly became railroads.

Does anyone know if the railways added still add to the CO2 levels in the game? I've been playing this long and only just now realized why half my games have me contributing so heavily, and there's no bullet train discovery.

why do yo add the constraint on upgrades? is there anything to change in order for it to upgrade whenever the techonology is done?

Hi, I don't have the pass so I don't know what changes. I am still playing with this mod and it is still working with the latest patch but without the pass. Please check and make sure you enable it in the mod menu

Yes, the mod changes database entries, which require new game. Database entries are stored per-game.

Sure,

Does the mod require a new save?
or the mod would not trigger if the save file had the "Steam Power" already?

Also the mod only checked in tittle menu/tittle mod list, after loaded my save it was not been enabled/shown

@rasputin_oz sorry I am not sure which one you are referring, but I also have a mod that allows Builder to build everything Military Engineer could, and it works fine.

This mod is a lot of fun, evokes sandlot play feel watching trail paths being blazed, as soon as exploration in game begins, a pleasure to use. Highly recommend

This is a great mod. I now like the railroad visuals on the map. Before, with the Military Engineer, the railroad visuals were out of whack.

@zac The difference between a modern road and a railroad is the movement points it requires to move on the tile. Modern roads require 0.5 movement, while a railroad requires only 0.25. This is essentially twice as fast/far movement. Just click the subscribe button to download any mod on the Steam Workshop.

@zon: no, "without" is correct :) for Persian, their ability is to have one road level higher than their era. Therefore, even if they don't have Steam Power when they reach Modern Era, their roads inside their territory is still Railroads. This is not true for all other civ, they will miss the chance to upgrade to Railroads.

perhaps an edit suggestion for your description, 3rd paragraph:
"Tested for Persian: if you reach Modern Era with the technology: your roads will be upgraded into Railroads and your Traders can create Railroads INSIDE YOUR TERRITORY. Outside of it, Modern Roads."
