that should happen with any weapon that's not marked as a shield sidearm, the same should happen with any shield from the base mod

Now that I've figured out how to craft them, whenever I try to equip the energy shield my pawns just put it into their inventory. I haven't tried the other shields from this mod, but the regular shields from the base mod work fine. Is it something with what they have equipped or a bug probably from an incompatibility?

@pgames-food it kinda works with simple sidearms, it shouldn't crash or anything, but there's a problem with the pawns automatically taking shields off when they draw their ranged weapon. It makes enough sense, but the problem is that a pawn with it's ranged weapon out while undrafted will go endlessly swap shields if there's any lying around, never equipping one because it goes straight into their inventory.
If you're happy to micro, or don't keep a stockpile of shields around you should be fine. Maybe having no shields assigned in the outfit's list and then equipping manually might fix it too.

@Haineko so how does that work? Do I download this mod and the Combat Extended version of Combat Shields, or do I download the base Combat Shields and this mod?

thanks for the report but it doesn't mean much to me. most of the complicated stuff in the mod is '[1.0] combat shields'. It may be a problem caused by my addon but if it is I have no idea what

@Blake noticing an issue with raid creation. Not sure if its your mod or the original.

To fit the character limit I shrank to 3 lines of the error. Can send full error on discord or DM if needed.
Looks like the PawnHasShieldInInventory call is mispelled which causes the raid to never form and error logs are written to the output log.

hi sama, are you sure CE does not work with simple sidearms?
in one of my games with ce and a bunch of mods (including that one), it seems to work.
(unless i misunderstood something, on the CE mod page it also mentions that it has support for it.)

that's a bug. one person has reported it before but we couldn't find out the exact cause. likely some incompatibility with some other mod

One of my pawns has been trying to craft the energy shield for 10 days now.
Progress towards building it does not get saved and it takes too long to complete. He almost starves or reaches recreation breaking point and then gives up.

If you feel this is balanced correctly, would it be a possibility for you to adjust a "required work" slider in the mod options for those of us that would like to tweak the value?

I guess combat shields doesn't patch the weapons from rimsenal enhanced vanilla. all weapons are by default not wieldable with shields unless the shield_sidearm tag is added to them. maybe there's a patch for rimsenal enhanced vanilla and combat shields somewhere on the workshop.

aye. that explains it.
and btw, i just tried to equip the energy shield with charge pistol(which is from rimsenal enhanced vanilla pack) and it's not holding shield with it.
is it bug, or maybe it is consider as two handed weapon?
and modular hybrid pistol(rimsenal graydale weapon) seems not working either, but that one's not working with original shields, so imma going to forget about it.

any weapon with the shield sidearm tag should be wieldable with shields. the base combat shield mod patches most vanilla weapons to have this tag

@Haineko Combat Extended Mod is not compatible with simple sidearms Mod. I can't bear to carry more weapons unless you have a way to make Combat Extended Mod compatible with simple sidearms Mod.

RT MOD military backpack, shield and gun can not coexist, only loading Combat Extended can take gun shield, but Combat Extended compatibility is poor, incompatible with the sub-weapon Mod, I hope you can modify your Mod, so that your shield in Mod can hold gun and shield, and will not let players shield and backpack two choices, Thank you

I've got no idea what backpack mod you're using but it likely uses the 'accessory' slot, which is the same slot these shields use. and yes, as long as it's got the shield-sidearm tag (most vanilla weapons have been given it by the base combat shields mod) then guns should work with them

Can guns be fired with shield? Submit a BUG. Shield is incompatible with backpack. If equipped with shield, backpack will be removed. I hope you can repair this BUG.

aaaah the fabrication bench...thanks blake i feel like a bloody idiot now haha, i never bother building fab benches because tbh i always end up with a weed farm so profitable i can buy out entire ships worth of supplies in no problem lol

my shields are made at the fabrication bench. the missing body part and not picking up bugs, I'll try to think about what may be causing them

I'm having another issue where Some people cant pick it up because they're missing a body part even though theyre not. And others who I can set to pick it up run over and cant pick it up for no listed reason

i love this mod, adds a bit more depth to the lacking combat system and allows me to create late game fire lines without looking like my power armour infused army is holding a stick as defence, however i've got an issue which is rather ridiculous and im almost certain is just me not being good at navigating menus, i can't seem to find the right crafting table to be able to build the shields haha, if anyone could drop me a little bit of info id be very appreciative lol
