Fluid sensors. If you place a fluid sensor in a compartment, you can get a reading of the current fluid level. If the compartment is not flooded, it ill read 0. If it starts flooding, the value goes up.

ERM... what do i add to the number nodes? i assume a sensor but which one? rain sensor? humidity sensor? what?

i guess for the time being i could wire the pumps into a toggle and hook up the sensor to a indicator light located on the bridge, then whenever water is detected, i could just press the button.... I do not know how to program a micro controller in SW. it looks really complicated - too complicated for me (probably).

I don't believe this controller is designed to do that... not sure what logic outputs it has, but you could theoretically adapt it to do so by modifying it.

cool. I setup some bilge pumps on my boat, but i basically have them running full time. ideally i would like them to only switch on automattically only when water is detected inside the hull.

@Chris Solomon Yes, this is a warning system that informs the crew that there is an active flood. I believe there is also an option to silence warnings for existing floods, but it will go out of silence if a new flood is detected...

It's been a while since I've even used this controller so I can't remember exactly how it functioned.

is this to tell if the boat is taking on water?
