@Logan Hello! I've included a direct download link in the description. A lot of people have had a similar problem as you, and I'm not sure why that is. You can move the mod into your mod directory, and it should work fine from there. :)
Logan Anarcho-Capitalist 30 Dec, 2019 @ 4:20pm
I like these balances a lot, but i'm not seeing this in my mod list. IDK whats up.
Keelojee 12 Aug, 2019 @ 1:11pm
Fair enough, but my point stands lol
Mario  [author] 8 Aug, 2019 @ 2:15am
"so many things" i literally only changed the names of two things lol
Keelojee 7 Aug, 2019 @ 8:58pm
I like the idea of this mod but why did you rename so many things to stupid ass stuff?
Mario  [author] 10 Jun, 2019 @ 2:40pm
Yeah I put out a hotfix for that. v6 should have corrected that. Glad you like the change!
Silver1906 10 Jun, 2019 @ 1:27pm
Just had a test game and it worked well. I went for a domination victory, and the free general allowed me to go for other policies to build myself up easier. It would also would have helped me defend myself if I had been attacked early, which didn't happen.
I noticed that in-game and on the list of changes on this page you accidentally noted the Great General as being a Great Prophet.
Mario  [author] 10 Jun, 2019 @ 2:04am
@Silver1906 I went ahead and added a new bonus for America's trait. It's not a resources-based one, but I just gave them a free great general at Iron Working. Hopefully this will give them a better chance of being able to do something early-game with their military while they are waiting for their Minutemen.
Mario  [author] 9 Jun, 2019 @ 5:25pm
I'll try out a game with America and see if I can think of something if I'm not feeling it lol
Silver1906 9 Jun, 2019 @ 2:47pm
I think simply swapping out the tile discount for something else wouldn't be too bad. Their main problem seems to be dying early game before they get their Minutemen, so something other than discounts that can be used early would help them. If you want to stay with the theme, giving them extra gold in some way would suffice, or you could try something different like extra food or city defence.
Anything would work really, but I think you could put something there.
Mario  [author] 9 Jun, 2019 @ 2:41pm
I think America's trait is pretty weak, but there's not many good ways to improve it. I opted to give their minutemen a boost; they come out the gate with a bunch of free promotions (Since they come out with Drill I they can come out with Drill III if you have an armory, and then an additional +15% boost from heroic epic if you have it built. By cutting their unit cost, it gives America a window of time where they can make a lot of Minutemen. The +1 sight on land units synergizes with that as well. They're still a pretty mediocre civ, but I think giving them an additional really strong trait might make them too powerful.
Silver1906 9 Jun, 2019 @ 2:17pm
Have you thought about improving Americas trait? The tile discount isn't really that useful, and as far as I'm aware AIs very rarely buy tiles, so that half of the trait is almost completely unused by them.
Mario  [author] 9 Jun, 2019 @ 2:15pm
Good idea! I'll go ahead and do that :o)
MC Anters 9 Jun, 2019 @ 2:14pm
Working fine, thanks a lot! It may be a good idea to leave a direct link in the mod description for people like me ;)
MC Anters 9 Jun, 2019 @ 1:57pm
Yeah, steam is just not downloading it at all. There are no files to move. Thanks for the quick reply btw
Mario  [author] 9 Jun, 2019 @ 1:56pm
@MC Anters if you're having trouble getting the mod to show up in the in-game mod list, it's a problem some other people have been having too for some reason. I've included in the description directions that should fix the problem in the 4th paragraph. if it's still not working after that, let me know I'll see what I can do about a direct download. :o)
MC Anters 9 Jun, 2019 @ 1:51pm
Hey, would you be willing to provide a direct download link? Steam often has trouble downloading mods for me
Mario  [author] 8 Jun, 2019 @ 3:34pm
@reoman56 this is a problem some others had as well. try going into your mod directory in my documents and moving the mod file into the mod folder. that should fix the problem. :0)
reoman56 8 Jun, 2019 @ 8:46am
Subbed but doesn't show up in game list of mods. :(
Mario  [author] 7 Jun, 2019 @ 7:02pm
LOL
Wasabilord123 7 Jun, 2019 @ 4:27pm
Shut up Kron you wack ass honkey. Based OBamaCare fucked your awss
glen.ulmer 7 Jun, 2019 @ 4:24am
I suggest you rename "Dumb People Research Things Faster" "Dummer Researchers Gooder"
Kron 5 Jun, 2019 @ 9:31pm
Why Obamacare? Why not Clintoncare? Or some other future name for a planned universal healthcare?
Mario  [author] 5 Jun, 2019 @ 7:01pm
i think it works fine as is, it’s meant to be useful as a way for civs that are behind to have an easier time catching up. it’s useful for anyone who is far behind in technology. playing on deity, this can be a very powerful resolution to pass as a player.

wrt stones to stars, I am not sure that this would be compatible with that mod, nor am I sure that it would be particularly balanced lol. you’re free to try it out, but I expect that there will be bugs.
NNOOOBB 5 Jun, 2019 @ 5:58pm
Also is this compatible with Iska and Ismet's Stones to Stars mod?
NNOOOBB 5 Jun, 2019 @ 5:31pm
Yo can we change the scholars in residence name to something else like Technology Sharing or Cooperative study and only get the bonus while not at war cuz I think it sounds dumb also it kind of just sucks in general unless you are playing on harder difficulties.
ChemicalMayo 5 Jun, 2019 @ 4:22pm
Dumb People Research things Faster lmao :steamsalty:
Mario  [author] 1 Jun, 2019 @ 5:28pm
@flannelcat thank u!!! thanks for trying it out and I hope u enjoy! <3
Mario  [author] 1 Jun, 2019 @ 5:19pm
@frankman129 that's actually a problem that happened with a friend of mine for some reason. The mod will download, but it'll put it outside of its folder, I have no idea why. If you go into your mod directory in My Documents, you'll see the mod, just drag the mod file into the folder and you should be golden. :0)
frankman129 1 Jun, 2019 @ 10:58am
Have a download place? Hit the subscribe button, shows me subscribed, but the mod doesn't show up on my mod list.
flannelcat 1 Jun, 2019 @ 9:53am
Eager to try out your work. Really like some of the upgrade changes especially the chariot archer and pikeman whose vanilla upgrades never seemed logical. Tks for your effort!
Mario  [author] 31 May, 2019 @ 10:44pm
Awesome! Thank you for checking it out and let me know how you like it! :0)
Cid Rod 31 May, 2019 @ 10:29pm
Going to check this out, I think it makes the game more in-line with how it *should*'ve been. Always was bothered with how some of the units jsut upgraded to Cavalry when they were originally Anti-Cav units lol.
Mario  [author] 31 May, 2019 @ 1:24pm
Sure it does. Many of the freedom policies are based on real-life American ideals. As an American, I can tell you with full confidence that I do not have universal healthcare, and it’s possible that I never will in my lifetime. The only healthcare policy in place here is the ACA, and the political climate in Washington and in many parts of the United States does not seem to favor universal coverage.

So I renamed it. Does it matter? Is this hurting anyone? Is this hitting some sort of sore spot for whatever reason so the only thing anyone wants to talk about on the extensive game-altering mod that I spent many hours on is how I changed the text on one of the policies as a joke?
Hans Landa 31 May, 2019 @ 10:30am
Why would you call it Obamacare? That doesn't even make any sense for any Civ
Karma 30 May, 2019 @ 7:48pm
@Lukewarm Cool; I usually just get piety for the reformation bonus and that's only if I've got a good lead in faith and culture
Mario  [author] 30 May, 2019 @ 7:42pm
Interesting you mention that, because I did notice that a little after I finished, but the code isn’t necessarily borrowed from them lol. You can double up on those bonuses if you were to adopt those pantheon beliefs, but given the diversity of the pantheon beliefs and the way they work sort of exclusively for one civilization or religion, I don’t think any change is necessary. The changes I made to piety were more or less to enable Piety to be more viable in the early game and giving faith-based civilizations more of a foot in the door if they choose to adopt it.
Karma 30 May, 2019 @ 6:15pm
I see that some of the piety changes are derived from pantheon beliefs; are you planning to make changes to those or will it be a double-up sort of thing?
Karma 30 May, 2019 @ 6:12pm
@JEELEN Obamacare isn't universal healthcare, but it was it aspirational towards it.
JEELEN 29 May, 2019 @ 8:11am
Hehe. Yeah, social and health insurance are obligatory over here. And even then some folks do get into trouble, because they run into debt. (Including with the government, who actually aggravate debt situations.) Funny how those things never seem to be a 'political issue'....
Mario  [author] 29 May, 2019 @ 6:50am
Yeah, it's not really meant to be a political statement, but if it were, it would be to poke fun at right-wing propoganda like that lol. I don't even have health insurance right now so order or autocracy sound really nice from where I'm sitting :P
JEELEN 29 May, 2019 @ 3:21am
Alrighty.

Note: contrary to certain right wing US propaganda, 'Obamacare' doesn't come close being úniversal healthcare'. But let's not get into such Fake News populism, shall we.
Mario  [author] 28 May, 2019 @ 7:52pm
Yeah that's just a little bit of flavor text that comes with the mod lol.
I forgot to note that legionaries have also been bumped up to 18. In general I don't think BNW's early-game melee units are very powerful, so I'll have to play-test Rome to make sure the 18 strength isn't game-breaking. It might warrant an increased production cost or some different adjustment.
JEELEN 28 May, 2019 @ 7:41pm
Most changes seem to be fairly marginal, except:

"Swordsmen have 16 combat strength (up from 14)."

Translation: All swordsmen are now legionaries...

"Renamed Freedom's Universal Healthcare to Obamacare."

lolwut

Mario  [author] 28 May, 2019 @ 7:23pm
Hello! I've just updated the post with a list of changes included for now; I'm going to write up a bit on the balance philosophy I've used later tonight. Play-testing and giving feedback would be very much appreciated! I've spent a bit of time already play-testing the mod and trying to make sure some of my changes aren't too powerful, and I have some adjustments already in mind. Thank you for your interest!
Lucius, the Heavenly Dragon 28 May, 2019 @ 9:31am
Yes, some information about what changes would be very nice.
JEELEN 28 May, 2019 @ 7:03am
Information could be a bit more informative, yes.
pseikone 28 May, 2019 @ 3:25am
Do you have more screenshots? I would like to know more about this project.
