I'm using Yayo's version of Real Fog of War and was wondering also if Real Fog of War Extended could be made to depend on it.

I don´t know if he changed the assembly code, but if not, it shouldn´t be difficult to make both mods work together. (propably just adding a dependency)

I just quickly updated it since the XML is 99% the same. However, the dropdown menu displays steel icons instead. Just a minor bug that shouldn't impact gameplay for now which I'll look into later. But at least it should be usable again.

I know a game with a very similar artstyle (Prison Architect) has CCTV camera sprites so either ripping those off or using them as a reference would be a good step in the right direction maybe

Because I have to mostly 'decompile' & understand the game itself, not the mod.
There are some mods that make use of walls and 'decompiling' those gave me a better understanding of things but it's still a pain to code like this. Not many programmers enjoy this.

@Squirting Elephant very good point about updates to the origional possibly breaking extensions. I stick with xml and patch operations too. I was just hopeing by a small miracle i would be able to decipher the cannot see under roofs thing by nosing around the mineco. spotlights but to no avail.
Its not too important because the under roof vision could just be represntative that it is thermal vision or something?
also regarding the lighting it made me think would it be easier to add vision to ingame lighting
wall lights would be funny to have 2-3 cell vision range for example : P

Agreed, rotational CCTV cameras and watchtowers that can view over walls (but not inside roofed buildings) would be awesome but right now it's summer, I have many things to do and decompiling undocumented code and coding through trial&error is really not the most fun thing to do, especially not for just a mod extension. Also if the original mods author updates his mod it could easily break my C# code so it would be best if the original author would do this. But maybe someday when I feel like it, for now I stick to XML-only. Sorry!

@Maal:
I can make it cheaper but I don't see a reason for doing so. It feels balanced as is. If you really want it to be cheaper send me a friend invite and I make a tiny friends-only-patch-mod for you to make it cheaper.

As the mod author of Fog of War doesn't realy seem active on the original mod thread. I wonder if you could add two more thing to this patch mod.

The watch tower is really expensive, any thoughts on making it cheaper?
People on said watch tower cannot see beyond walls, is it possible to add? Sort of silly since they are supposed to be tall.

i am thinking of the mining co spotlight/projector that pans around that would be nice.
also i might try adding a vision range to the spotlight (it can hit targets over walls, but i think they need to be unroofed)

CCTV Camera's with just a rotational model? Nothing fancy really and you get that "On-the-wall" camera that take a spot after the wall. Just use it as a temporary accomplishment until you figure out the new code that'll be required?

Added new cameras, research and various improvements. All the cameras are now grouped under 1 button.

I agree that the camera models are shabby and I actually did look for a better ones but found none. I'm sadly no artist and most artists are way too expensive to hire for small mods. I need better models for my other mods as well but haven't been able to find anybody so far.

Fixing cameras on a wall like the Wall Lights mod would be awesome but I believe that it seems that new assembly code is required.

I really want to use this mod but the dome camera is just kind of ugly. If there were to be more camera models or literally just a square one you can put on a wall instead of down on the ground I'd probably use this mod.

I was only just looking at the dll for this yesterday. I am trying to increase base vision range of pawns : )
