HI, I made a update for ksp 1.8.1, now it should lift off, but for unknown reason the rotor is not as stable as in ksp 1.7.x :(
MrJeff 23 Nov, 2019 @ 9:15am

I love the rotor design. I'm still perfecting a miniature version of them for my inspired beechcraft baron g58 (using contra-rotating propellers).

How delightfully soviet it looks!

@FockeWulfe190-A-4, will it work? if you remap anything on the helicopter into action groups by your self.
Atlantis OV-104 11 Jun, 2019 @ 8:58pm
This is wonderful.
I admire you.
tunamansquare 11 Jun, 2019 @ 2:43pm

@ Jungle_Jim, the mechanism of a helicopter is never a secret, so it's not hard to implement it. but it actually takes me more time to fix a blades vibration problem :steamfacepalm: the solution is those 3 struct connector beside each blade.
ddpps3  [author] 11 Jun, 2019 @ 3:13am
maybe cause by any mod? especially action group extension
tunamansquare 10 Jun, 2019 @ 4:30pm

Bumongus 10 Jun, 2019 @ 2:46am

ddpps3  [author] 8 Jun, 2019 @ 1:36pm
hi, you need to hold h to power up the motor to 100%, wait a a few second to let it speed up, then gently press i to add collective.
Legoboyjonathan 8 Jun, 2019 @ 12:40pm
When I try to fly it, the motors spin a bit, but no lift is being created, so I can't get up from the ground.
Gavvywavvy 8 Jun, 2019 @ 4:18am
that mechanism looks hard to build. I feel like that took like forever but i love it!:steamhappy:

That mechanism looks absolutely stunning.

"ThatDogYouKnow", this is NOT called at "monoprop" - the "prop" in "monoprop" refers to at propeller and helicopters do not have propellers, they have rotors. Its called, as you said, a coaxial rotor system or a tandem rotor system. Also, it does not have separate engines, it has two interlinked turboshaft engines - which both provide power to both rotors. Because of the two main rotors and no tail rotor, it is often used to carry great amounts of weight.

Boy ya nasty
MTD Labs 6 Jun, 2019 @ 7:48pm
coaxial/monoprop*
MTD Labs 6 Jun, 2019 @ 7:47pm
Both rotors spin in opposite directions to cancel out each others rotation while maintaining great amounts of lift, Helicopters like Chinooks use a similar system with separate engines and rotors placed at different heights and places on the helicopter.
MTD Labs 6 Jun, 2019 @ 7:45pm
This is called a monoprop helicopter! They do not have the same sound as normal helicopters due to the lack of the tail rotor, they are also more fuel efficient due to all engine power being used for lift. Helicopters like this are often used for para-rescue and recon
Rary_The_Traitor 6 Jun, 2019 @ 7:18pm
wow
Cobba 6 Jun, 2019 @ 6:10pm
Looks like a Blackhawk main rotor head times two.
