Well, my understanding of it is; Paradox is the one that chooses if more updates are forthcoming, and I guess they didn't like the performance of Green Planet release and called it a day.

Thanks ChoGGi appreciate the help. With the amount of fixes you've had to create for the game I'm surprised it even got released. Obviously the developers know its a mess and Paradox wont do anything about it.

I just tested on my machine and it seems to work (both options turned off changed the texture to the ugly one), it could be something changed in macos 11?
I'd also say it's the publisher's issue. You could try a refund through steam, the game is borked with no update in sight for you.

I too have spoken to Paradox and they simply shrug and say the developers havent issued a patch for over a year so its not likely to be fixed. In that case it should be Paradox pushing the developer to fix the issue as Paradox are the ones selling an unfinished/broken product and are liable to the customer.

What's your platform, and can I get a screenshot of the white lake (is it a bright white at night?)_
TumbleDryer 14 Dec, 2020 @ 7:19am
I tried every combination. The second option doesnt do anything at all. Only the first option and it simply removes the white texture so you can see the bottom of the lake.
ChoGGi  [author] 13 Dec, 2020 @ 2:43pm
It should be an ugly blue water texture. Which mod option(s) did you enable?
TumbleDryer 13 Dec, 2020 @ 11:33am
FYI I dont get any new texture showing up just an empty lake. Ive just doscovered Surviving Mars this week and while the game is awesome the one massive bug means the whole point of the game is mute. Terraform mars, the ultimate goal is to see liquid water on mars yet the developers STILL have not fixed this issue. This mod only gets rid of the annoying solid white texture, it doesnt replace it with anything for me?!

Just in case anyone comes back to look a this when the lakes still don't work: the "Evans" update made this mod native to the mac game fixing the FPS drop but they DID NOT FIX the visual issue. I've spoken directly with paradox support about the lakes being perma-frozen visually and they pointed me to this very mod and said the bug is still marked "not fixed" in their internal system. 1 year bugged and counting my friends, here's to hoping they finally get off their behinds and fix this.

No it's the evans update, I got a few mods to update ;)

When I click on a mod of yours in the mod options, the options are empty. I use Mod Config Reborn, could this cause a problem?
ChoGGi  [author] 27 Sep, 2019 @ 4:48pm
Menu>Options>Mod Options (you won't see it in the main menu till mods are loaded, toggle a mod in the manager or load a save).

Thanks for this mod until the dev release a fix. I just don't understand where I can change the settings. Can't find it anywhere in the options. (this is the first time I install a mod in a game....)
dokMixer 18 Jul, 2019 @ 6:48pm
Thumbs up for making the game "playable". Hope that the devs fixes that…

If you still have the mod installed, mind going into the mod options and toggling one or both the options then uploading the log file somewhere?

I've uploaded it here [drive.google.com]. Thanks for taking a look. I'll mess around with it some more tomorrow to make sure it's not something dumb on my end.
ChoGGi  [author] 2 Jul, 2019 @ 5:43pm
You should only enable one at a time, but it shouldn't hurt to enable both. For the default setting it should be enable lakes on and grid view off.
Something could've gone funky though, if you want to upload your save file somewhere?
evielution 2 Jul, 2019 @ 5:02pm
I'm also having some trouble with the texture and grid. I got the bright white FPS issue at first with enable lakes turned on, but since I turned it off I haven't been able to get anything to show up in its place including the original buggy water. To show the 'fixed' texture, should Enable Lakes and Enable Grid View be off? And to go back to the buggy view you'd just turn Enable Lakes on?

I've tried all 4 combinations of the switches, reloading the saves each time, and I've reloaded the game a couple of times too. An empty hole is a lot better than the lag but it'd be cool to see some indication if possible.

I took a screenshot but there's nothing much to show besides an empty hole and the texture coming from the spout. Couldn't see anything in the log files from ~/Library/Application Support/Surviving Mars/logs/ either beyond the init info. Not sure if that's where I should be looking. Appreciate the time you've put into this fix—frustrating the devs have sat on it for so long.

Enable lakes should give you the regular buggy view, you want to have it off for the mod to work, it should be showing a water-ish texture. Screenshot of a selected lake and a log of you applying the option?
benperry1989 26 Jun, 2019 @ 2:48am
I gave this a go again with the water/ice fix as the developers don’t seem to want to fix it and interestingly, if I set it to on I get the bright white lake FPS issue, off gives me nothing and grid view works fine. Because of old save game maybe? Very much appreciate you making this, any suggestions on the issue?
ChoGGi  [author] 15 Jun, 2019 @ 12:27am
v0.2
Uses an ice/water texture to show the level now (less ugly/noticeable).
ChoGGi  [author] 13 Jun, 2019 @ 1:35pm
If you're playing games then I'd say "stuck" definitely applies with how much Apple cares about them.
Nini 13 Jun, 2019 @ 4:02am
Don't know if I'd call it "stuck"...
ChoGGi  [author] 9 Jun, 2019 @ 3:14pm
Enjoy guys :)

I can add an option for completely invis, if you don't care for seeing the grid icons as the "water" level?
Grazmath 9 Jun, 2019 @ 1:50pm
This is great. Fixes the laggy frame rate drop with lakes. Appreciate it!

Thank you!!!!!
