"Lumos" Spotlight turret (Vanilla)

To make the turret work you have to place a turret and change its name to include "designator"
You have to add the designator and the spotlight to a turret group
From there as soon as someone enters range of the designator turret the turret will aim at them, and any turrets using the slave ai script will also Target them.
To track a person the designator turret has to be able to target players.

still dont understand how to make this thing work or follow a player

is there a way to get the Spotlight to follow me? Like i´m a Prisoner or a Rockstar? Only managed to let the lights follow Ships that are enemies.

replace the spotlight with a camera??
OctoBooze  [author] 5 Sep, 2019 @ 3:07pm
Don't know what else to do if that option fails. I guess you could slap a camera in there and replace the spotlight in the group with that.

Hey there just wondering how do I make the spotlights stay on??? Even with the setting "only_shoot_when_designator_shoots=false" they only turn on when the turret fires and then they turn off after they stop shooting. I'd like to keep them on all the time if there's a way to.

ok cool

Correct! Full vanilla blocks, but the textures are from the latest DLC.

I was looking at the pictures and it looks like some of the dlc block wraps where used (I don’t mind as I own the dlc but just curious):steamhappy::steamhappy:

You could do that yourself by adding a timer that self starts and triggers both rotors to reverse, giving it the illusion of searching. If you want to have it with this script to snap to targets you're gonna need to get a bit technical, but recommend "turret triggers timer" script, link that to a second timer that turns off the searchtimer and starts a third to turn searchtimer on again after a while. If that doesn't work you're gonna have to have it also enable and disable the ai slaving script, as in turn slaving on when disabling search and vice versa because there could be conflict of commands.

i have a idea:
make one that moves in a half circle, as a perimeter watch for a prison perhaps?
OctoBooze  [author] 16 Jun, 2019 @ 7:12am
As far as vanilla game can go I'd say. This is a spotlight for identical use, though it doesn't really "search" as much as just turn on and point towards a target engaged by a turret. You can slave different spotlights to different weapons so they illuminate different targets! :) Just rename each Turret Group and slave them to a designator turret!

so would this have the same effect with multiple of them as in forsay the Blitz of london, ye know the spotlights in the sky kinda look
Sandst4rm 15 Jun, 2019 @ 8:18pm
If you have over about 18 spotlights they will start to turn off as you get further away because of a light rendering thingo. (or at least they do for me)
OctoBooze  [author] 14 Jun, 2019 @ 11:57pm
That shouldn't happen. As far as I know the script only acts on items grouped in the "Turret Group X" and ignores the rest. Maybe the rest of your spotlights are included in that somehow? Don't really know what else it could be.

Works very well, but it will occasionally shut off other stationary spotlights on my build?
TamTam2204 14 Jun, 2019 @ 7:32am
Okay
OctoBooze  [author] 14 Jun, 2019 @ 7:00am
I'm 90% sure I've seen one or two on the workshop before. If not I'll consider it, but no promises
TamTam2204 14 Jun, 2019 @ 6:21am
Something like the TBM, but instead of making a hallway it makes a “double passage style” rail, for trains to go on. (you can see an example of the rails on the Masu bullet train)

Always up for suggestions! What do you have in mind?
TamTam2204 14 Jun, 2019 @ 5:18am
Hi nice design, do you have time for build recommendations or are you occupied at the moment?
OctoBooze  [author] 11 Jun, 2019 @ 11:35pm
Thanks!
Deathlok-L17 11 Jun, 2019 @ 8:38pm
very cool design for a spotlight!
