Cool mod. Do you have any idea about comparability with this

Renaming Amphitheater two times will crash the game?

So helpful - thanks!

Liked this. I've been thinking for a long time that museums are way too high up the tech tree.

Is it possible to get a manual download of this?

At the end I can slot Great Work of Art and artifacts without building so much Opera Houses

Version 3 is up: Cathedral produces only 2 culture per turn; Opera House is cheaper.

@MigGui: I have considered this for an alternative version of my mod (Gallery, available at Guilds or Banking), but decided that the "priority" version shouldn't feature additional buildings, only changes to existing ones. Also, six culture buildings seem somewhat excessive. The Gallery would be well suited for a mod that separates Art and Artifacts, but such a mod isn't workable right now because the AI treatment of Art/Artifacts is hardcoded in the DLL. See the discussions here [forums.civfanatics.com] and here [forums.civfanatics.com].

what do you think of making two separate buildings, the art gallery with one slot for art works available at banking and the museum as it is now?

@MigGui, @Sun Ce of Wu: Adding a GW of Writing slot to monasteries might be a nice idea for a separate mod, but is unrelated to the gameplay problem this mod tries to solve (Art slots available too late).

@MigGui: Think of museums also as art galleries, which first appeared in the Renaissance. I chose the Banking tech to unlock museums because Banking requires Guilds (which unlocks the Artists' Guild). I don't think early city/museum spamming is a serious problem because the number of Great Works of Art is still restricted by the Artists' Guild (unless you conquer lots of cities which host GWs).

I buffed cathedrals because Art slots are now more abundand in the pre-Industrial era. But the need to build museums is still postponed by cathedrals, so I'll consider to reduce their culture per turn to 2.

I like the change on the hermitage, since it's a museum, and your national memorial is very nice.

i'm sorry if it seems I didn't like your mod because of the many changes I proposed, and I hope you don't answer "well, if you didn't like, make your own mod", I'm really just trying to help =P

had to split in two comments because of character limit...

I think you could keep the museum where it was, since it makes a lot more sense to start having museums when people start digging on the past than when they start craving for money. having the palace and the national memorial as two early art slots, pulling the museum earlier without nerfing it and taking its requirements could unbalance for civilizations that do early city spamming (remember it has 2 slots and theming). you could add another art slot to the palace and/or memorial instead of anticipating the museum... or you could add the slots to both, anticipate the museum and take off its extra slot, which would make the museum sit better with other culture buildings but would be a major nerf for artifacts.

did you take off the GW of art slot from the cathedral? if you didn't, it is much stronger than the other religious buildings. i would actually keep it as it is now (+1 culture), and monasteries could drop the bonus to wine and incense and have a GW of writing instead.

@Sun Ce of Wu, that's a really cool idea. Does anyone know how to add a Great Work slot to a building?
Sun Ce of Wu 3 Oct, 2013 @ 1:07pm
I was thinking, what about giving monasteries a writing slot? Historically it makes sense, and I think this would be a great help for small empires that still want to go Cultural. This and/or adding a new building o giving a building later in tech tree than the (amphi)theatre a writing slot, cause it seems that writings have less slots than the other great works

I don't disagree with any of these changes. They all absolutely make sense and I appreciate that you provided your reasoning for them. Thanks a lot for this mod. I think it's really good.
