It has been a while since my last campaign, but they give you easy to replace distractions during Advent's turn and another gun on your turn without eating away xp for your real troops.

Personally I use the other Shiv mod, but I also play with Buildable Units, which only uses Shiv visuals and includes its own stats for them.

Wait a second.... so Alpha & your SHIVs are equal? I mean stats, damage, compatibility etc?

I know. That is not a bug, it is intended. Kiruka's buildable units are intended to be expendable and easy to replace, like shivs in XCOM EU.

@4rrakis: Heads up the mod your recommending does have a draw back if you use it you won't be able to upgrade your shivs just so you know. I had to take that mod out before I could do upgrades or aka promotions to the shiv units

Are there any probs with soldier portraits for this mod? I.e showing the SHIV portrait in the armory.

It is, and it is working as intended. In Buildable Units SHIVs, like all the other units available to build, are meant as filler units for your squad that are easy to obtain, easy to replace, and don't take away experience gain from your soldiers. Therefore they don't get new perks or upgradeable gear - that is what SPARKs are for.

@4rrakis: Yes I am is this the reason the SHIV won't upgrade if that's the case that mod is gone and I'm gonna start all over again.

I built a shiv in the proving grounds and put into several battles but I still have no way to upgrade it? what's the deal it's mentioned in the description but there is no way to do it.

There is no proving ground option to rebuild a killed Shiv. I fin this odd, since you can do that both with shivs in Xcom 1 and with sparks in xcom 2. Was that intentional or just an oversight?

Question in a different manner, if the 2 shivs you get from research are not upgradable are they? you ave to build one so you can upgrade them correct?

So while I enjoy the mod, i want to give some ideas on how to improve should you come back to it, or someone want to try and improve on it.

1: the sound, everyone else has said it.
2: Cosmetic upgrades, let us paint it, give it the SPARK unit flag, and Give the tier 2 and 3 weapons the improved look they deserve so that it doesn't visually still have a tier-1 weapon when doing tier 3 damage.
3: Hover SHIV. Seriously how did t hat thing not get brought in after studying an archon.

My original version was much larger and comprehensive about why, but steam has a stupid character limit.

Ok new problem since it is mentioned in the notes here that you can get updates to the shiv's tech tree and yet there isn't any now when I unsubscribe to the mod and tried to subscribe to the other wotc shiv mod it doesn't show up in alternate mod launcher so I unsubscribe to that one and reinstall this one now it doesn't want to show up no matter how many times I resubscribe to it. Whats going on with these 2 mods??

Hi I've had 2 shiv's in combat a few times so I didn't see them get any upgrades so I checked on what they could do and only the 1st row show's up and the rest are blank will these empty area's appear as the shiv improves in skills?

Because it was never ported over. There are Hover shiv models for GMOD and SFM that could be use though.

Ehhh yeah, this mod is a big disappointment.

The SHIVs themselves are great, but its just totally unplayable because he's got the SHIV's motor noises at absurdly high volume levels. It is WAY too loud, and doesn't respond to lowering the Sound Effect or Voice Volumes.

Bummer.

Not sure if this is a bug, or some kind of bad settings on my part.

The SHIV's engine/rolling/movement noises are super loud, like 10x louder than anything else. Even reducing the sound to near-zero still has him coming in at normal volume, but everything else is dead silent.

Anyone else having this issue?

You either need the Skin Replacer or add the Cannons and Spark Rifles to the list of weapons SHIV's can use.

@Giuseppelll Hey quick question, similar to how you made your Shiv and Tank, are you ever thinking of making a craftable Sectopod? I would LOVE to be able to use a sectopod on my team (Currently doing a XCOM to Advent playthrough against Advent)

...it is deffinitely nice that we get these really cool mech mods... but is there any chance you guys would be willing to tackle the idea of making a playable sectopod? i just think it would be awesome if someone on the avenger had the bright idea to try and reverse engineer a sectopod for XCOM to use, and i feel like you guys would be aces at getting it to function properly.

What ini change is needed to give the shiv a voice so it could have a bit of, you know, personality? I ask because there are several machine/mech voice packs.

It was never ported. It would require more coding. To bad because they would be the one to use due to XCOM 2 requiring more mobility than EU/EW.

It seems that if the shiv is "greatly wounded" it is given an indefinite recovery time in the barracks and becomes unusable.

The Hover Shiv is possible but it looks like Fireborn's code is so crappy that it has to be started from scratch.

Just wondering, but is the avenger's photobooth still bugged in this version?

Would you add a version that is completely equipment-dependent? I'd rather get perks and skills from my robotic units from whatever they're carrying rather than perks they learn themselves. Makes them more disposable, as they were originally intended.

Will you continue to work on this like color customization and equipment lots like improving accuracy and all? im trying it now, i like so far but i noticed that its a little buggy as in for some reason it treats it like like a actual soldier instead of spark unit.
