[More Planet Info] 1.4 Quest Marker Fix

you could create a mod to remove items after death, its working principle is quite simple, but it would give a completely different approach to the game, if all items from the inventory were completely removed after death, it would create a positive circulation of weapons and armor, which would equalize the balance of resources and items in large modpacks

Ah. Well, good that you're here then. :cozybethesda:
Anter583  [author] 29 Jun, 2024 @ 5:52pm
It's not intentional, MPI is outdated, it's made for version 1.3 not 1.4.

Due to it fully overriding one of the nav menu's scripts to work, it accidentally removes all the code added in 1.4 to render the quest markers.
TiraboTurbos 29 Jun, 2024 @ 2:18pm
Don't know why MPI hides the quest markers, SO GLAD this exists!
Anter583  [author] 20 Mar, 2023 @ 12:41am
All 3 mods work fine when installed locally on my end.

Best guess is that you are still subbed to either MPI itself or more likely a mod that should be loaded before my mod, like for example biome fix.

Locally installed mods can't set workshop mods as dependencies, SB pretends that they don't exist and even throws a missing mod error if said workshop mod is in a requires list.

This leaves the possibility that if you're not careful with which mods you install locally you can end up loading the mods in an order that's not intended by the mod authors.

Fixed, I merged More Planet Info -> https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1117007107

And the 2 patches (this one) -> https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1772643711

And this -> https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1761193918

In the same .pak file, now everything works perfectly, it works just like subscribing to the mods from the workshop, but I was interested in putting the .pak itself in the mods folder of the game because I "translate" the mods and I needed to put it there xD

The problem was that the mod and the patches didn't work as independent mods, why? I don't know, but merged together they work fine hehe
Davoker 18 Mar, 2023 @ 9:41pm
Wow, it's funny, the mod works fine "if I install More Planet Info" and this mod "from the workshop", but if I put the .pak files in the mod folder, the Quest Marker Fix stops working, I don't understand it xD
Davoker 18 Mar, 2023 @ 9:25pm
Does this work for anyone? maybe it requires starting a new game? the Peacekeeper missions are still unchecked.

I have put for the first time the mod More Planet Info and I think it's wonderful, but I need the Peacekeeper mission markers, if I can not solve it I will have to do without the mod, and it's a pity U_U
Jinks 15 May, 2022 @ 12:48pm
Oh, OK, I did not know that.

I haven't started the peacekeeper stuff yet. I'ts been a few years and I'm still getting my bearing in FU, Elithian Races and the surrounding ecosystem :)

I'll give it a proper check when I start out the peacekeeper stuff.
Anter583  [author] 14 May, 2022 @ 11:03am
It only works with peacekeeper bounties, NPC given quests don't work because CF didn't bother to rewire them to use the added waypoint system.

I've tried to wire them up myself, but I haven't had much success yet.

If I manage to fix them, it's probably going to be in the form of a new mod, since its more of a vanilla oversigth rather than an MPI incompatibility.
Jinks 14 May, 2022 @ 10:46am
As far as I can tell, the mod does nothing. There's not a single quest marker in my galaxy with ~35 open quests.
EvilPolygons 24 Aug, 2021 @ 4:27am
Thanks for the update!
Anter583  [author] 23 Aug, 2021 @ 8:26am
I finally found the energy to sit down and modernise the mod's code.
This mod no longer overrides cockpitview.lua, instead it uses a technique that I learned sometime during the last 2 years that I usually refer to as "lua editing" (obviously that's not the real term for it but Idk what the real one is).

You may also notice that Biome Fix now renders quest markers properly, that's because of the way the mod works now.

I have made a couple of tests to make sure there's no issues, but let me know if I accidentally broke something.
oinkoinkmooo 19 May, 2021 @ 1:07am
No Worries, Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.

manage to fix it just now by unpacking UGOR and just placing it in my mod folder and removing the feature of UGOR that enables the "Moon" planet type.

Well now to start creating a new player and universe and start playing again. :steamhappy:
Anter583  [author] 19 May, 2021 @ 12:51am
I hope you backed-up your save before doing that, SB can be a bit aggressive when repairing errors caused by missing/corrupt content.
Not sure if I can fix the issue rn, this mod is fairly old and I kinda forgot how it works, I also need to at some point overhaul it to use my more modern patching techniques.
oinkoinkmooo 19 May, 2021 @ 12:29am
Fixed it alright. now to check if i can do something about this.
oinkoinkmooo 19 May, 2021 @ 12:20am
Seems it only happens when a Planet Type that is not a moon is tagged as Lunar.

I'll search for any mods in my list that do add some planet or change the planet generation. i can only think of a few mods i have, including UGOR https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=975069270 . I'll try removing this one and check if this will fix the issue.
Anter583  [author] 18 May, 2021 @ 11:55pm
That's an odd one, it looks like one of your mods is trying to change the way space stations are displayed from the starmap by attaching an extra script to the nav menu, but is partly failing since MPI makes large internal changes to how those windows are displayed.

Not sure what mod would cause that, but it has to either be a nav menu mod or a mod that adds extra planets.

If you orbit them, what type of planets/stations are they?
oinkoinkmooo 18 May, 2021 @ 11:20pm
Hi first of all thank you for this. works wonder. but i'm encountering some overlapping text with "Large Objects" , is this some incompatibility with other mods?

Vrishnak92™ 8 May, 2021 @ 9:45pm
Thank you. The mod this patches was one of the reasons i had suspended any further playthroughs since it was not being updated anymore, it is just too much of an important QoL feature.
Emotional Lesbian 16 Apr, 2021 @ 8:52am
That's very odd. I haven't even made it to the peace keeper yet. The missions I have are to explore ruins on the surface of planets, and some bounties from maps. I could check again later but I know for a fact before that, my markers were not showing.
Anter583  [author] 16 Apr, 2021 @ 8:44am
I uninstalled all my mods & installed all your mods, this mod seems to work as intended on your mod collection.
The "!" button also seems work properly.

Are said quests peacekeeper bounties, story missions or npc/tenant quests?

The only oddity that I found was that tenant quests didn't show up, which weirdly enough, not even vanilla does, which explains why my mod also doesn't, since I literally copy-pasted the added quest code into MPI's code.
Emotional Lesbian 16 Apr, 2021 @ 7:03am
I tried tracking it but nothing shows. Only if I'm on the right planet will it show an arrow pointing to where I need to go. Even on the map the ! button to find the quest is grayed out.
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2456080272 This is the link to the mod collection. Thank you in advance for your help.
Anter583  [author] 16 Apr, 2021 @ 6:49am
The mod still works perfectly on my end, can you give me a log, your mod list and/or any info that may help in finding what's causing your markers to not appear?

Also, if you haven't tried this yet, press the "track quest" button in your journal on one of those quests and click the "!" button in your nav menu, as there's a chance that your quests may be farther away than you think.
Emotional Lesbian 13 Apr, 2021 @ 9:30am
I downloaded this and all the other suggested mods for this but my markers still won't show up. I don't know where to go.
ANOMALY 13 Nov, 2020 @ 10:38am
Ah I see, thank you
Anter583  [author] 13 Nov, 2020 @ 8:12am
Both MPI and this mod are serverside.
ANOMALY 13 Nov, 2020 @ 7:36am
Does anyone know if this mod is clientside?
Anter583  [author] 27 Sep, 2020 @ 3:42am
I use Extended GUI and MPI with no issues.
From the image you provided, it looks like some mod that affects the navigation console is partially overriding the navigation menu (and the main script) back to vanilla.

I would suggest looking at any mod that affects the navigation console/changes space travel in any way (fuel mods included).
AdorableSparrow 26 Sep, 2020 @ 9:53pm
getting an issue where Text is overlapping an the UI is idk compacted. is the mod compatible with Extended GUI?
Anter583  [author] 3 Sep, 2020 @ 3:48am
Idk, MPI usually states structures that are on the surface. If a description is stating that the structure is buried, then there's probably gonna be an entrance on the surface, somewhere.
nightfall 2 Sep, 2020 @ 7:29pm
im useing this to find precursor stuff i found a planiet that has 3 its a small planit but how far down is beneath?
Egg 4 Sep, 2019 @ 12:45pm
Hi for some reason additional info is not showing on osome systems
Henamor 22 Aug, 2019 @ 1:47am
I was getting freezes on my starmap on some Strange and Aether sea planets but manage to fix it. There were two dungeons that I added to the config file wreckunderwater and wreckunderwateraether.
King Tamo 16 Jul, 2019 @ 12:35pm
oh i get what the mod does now it shows the quest areas so u can see it on the map smart
๖ۣۜFenris 4 Jul, 2019 @ 5:50am
"I made this mod mostly for myself , but after giving it some thought I decided to post it here to help other people."

Give that man a cookie :tlove:

Thanks you ;)
Anter583  [author] 30 Jun, 2019 @ 5:21pm
Had someone with the same issue. They never told me if they fixed it or what the problem was , but it seems to be caused by mods that have outdated quests in them.
Do you by any chance have "more dungeons" (the standalone non FU version) or any mod that adds more minidungeons installed?
If your going to remove any such mods to test out , I recommend backing up your saves first.
Hokins 30 Jun, 2019 @ 4:52pm
Sometimes when i go look for a bounty in a planet i've never been in before, mostly volcanic ones, when i try to beam down to the planet i just reappear in the ship. I'm unable to get in said planet afterwards.
Anter583  [author] 23 Jun, 2019 @ 10:08am
I just tested that mod and from what I can see its fully compatible with MPI.
I dont really know what that error means so I can't help much.
The only thing that could make MPI cause errors would be if you have a mod installed that edits cockpitview.lua or replaces and heavily edits any of the other files relating to the pilot seat.
Aurum 23 Jun, 2019 @ 8:35am
My issue was an error something like "Map timeout, missing value62" or something like that. Removing MPI fixed it.
Also I'm using a newly added fuel mod and have had no issues with it.

Anter583  [author] 23 Jun, 2019 @ 4:48am
Hmm I thought that bug was only with that specific fuel mod , thanks for letting me know
Meet the Zombie Soldier 22 Jun, 2019 @ 9:15pm
UPDATE: the issue is with ALL fuel mods and 1.4, the addition of whatever quest code they have breaks the UI when combined with them.
Meet the Zombie Soldier 22 Jun, 2019 @ 8:39pm
whatever is causing the "sun with a planet orbiting and unresponsive UI" bug seems to be tied to adding the patch on a old save as far as I can tell. Removing the patch does not fix it, nor does uninstalling the mods entirely. I ran into these issues, and I do not use "vanilla fuel cost for FU" as I do not use Frackin Universe to begin with.
Anter583  [author] 22 Jun, 2019 @ 1:48pm
I use FU's UI and have't encountered any issues , ofcourse saying that any incompatibility issues MPI lists do apply to this mod aswell.
Could you elaborate on the issue?
If its just error signs showing up instead of dungeon icons in the planet menu that's just MPI's way of saying that it doesn't have an icon and/or description for the specific dungeonid.
Aurum 22 Jun, 2019 @ 12:00pm
I ran into some issues recently on a server I'm hosting. Does this conflict with FrackinUniverse's UI changes?
Anter583  [author] 22 Jun, 2019 @ 5:19am
its ok , a lot of people seem to only read the text in the preview image before commenting
コイチク焼 22 Jun, 2019 @ 5:17am
ohh sorry
Anter583  [author] 22 Jun, 2019 @ 5:03am
an old file in that mod causes it to not display quest markers
Anter583  [author] 22 Jun, 2019 @ 5:02am
Literally the first line in the description.
Patches the mod More Planet Info (made by: Erisss) to render the 1.4 Quest Markers
