The only thing affected is how your farms look - you can play online normally.

@Zetnus - ok after seeing the change i'm pretty sure i want the HD :) but will this affect onlie battles??

I actually noticed that and thought the HD ones were a heck of a lot better. I was like WTF?!! How could they do this to us? Anywho, you saved the day and now my game will be back to normal. I was trying to think of what they did wrong but I thought that was very, very sneaky. Next thing you know they will take away all the other HD stuff and replace the water with old yucky flat blue ice, etc. Very bad idea!! Thank you ever so much for fixing this. Best thing ever!

@william.bergin - If you compare the textures side by side, there is a noticable difference.

@BeTiko - It is very unlikely that the farms would cause crashes, but if you think they might be the cause, remove them using the instructions above.
