Ah. The best mod.
Sagandur 19 Mar, 2019 @ 5:00pm
Does this mod affect Dragonborn and Dawnguard?
Draugrborn 2 Sep, 2018 @ 8:46am
I love the hardcore experience this mod delivers. It makes the game a proper challenge, and is fun to combine with other mods, such as the "Random Alternate Start" mod and mods to alter combat to be more realistic.
Argronok0 13 May, 2018 @ 4:29am
I have played this game for so long with this mod and all I can say is that this is WAY too unbalanced. Even at high levels with great gear like Orcish Armor I am still having trouble with Bandit Highwaymen and everything just feels damage spongy.

And there is no clear indication that enemies are tough and high leveled.

MMORPG have the luxery of showing the level of the enemy and their health, this game doesn't.
Jovi 20 Nov, 2017 @ 8:41am
so, how to install?
Odd Erduen 9 May, 2017 @ 1:02am
You have fixed this game. Now level up actually makes sense. I've also installed mods to remove quest markers and get better quest directions. Now it's an RPG again!
ShadowDragon_79 31 Jan, 2017 @ 4:53pm
I was searching something like this mostly for dragons ( killing one with a low-level bow and mediocre arrows just CAN'T be believable - that should merely anger him/her... ) , but as allround it does make more sense ofcourse - so thanks for the mod. :)

Now I'd just need to know: Are compatibility issues to other mods likely?
Because I already installed a lot...

@Dani :

Read above: "The dungeons in one area of the world are easier than the rest of the dungeons. These are the dungeons closest to Whiterun. The enemies in those dungeons are more often level 1-10, ..."

Sounds like that is where you should be going, doesn't it ?? ;o)

@mgibson1886 :

Yep, features like this are targeted to cater to casual players...

And while I'm not against a bit of casual gaming now and then, I DO have the opinion the it's quite frankly HORRIBLY out of a place in such a large project as Skyrim. :/
And yes, it IS immersion-breaking.
Dani 31 Dec, 2016 @ 11:21am
It's an okay mod. It's nearly impossible to level melee oriented skills from the get go thanks to how strong enemies tend to be now. I find myself forced to kite them around with a bow most the time. It'd be nice if randomly spawned enemies (Bandit attacks, etc) scaled to level so your autosave doesn't wind up screwing you over. It does do a good job of eliminating scaling, but on the other hand I think the average enemy is far too strong for starting characters to handle particularly those who wish to train melee attacks. There's a difference between 'not knowing what's around the next corner' and 'knowing that what's around the next corner will probably be able to kill you like everything else before it.' . . Thanks for the experience though. :)
ilya-rysenkov 14 Dec, 2016 @ 4:45am
mgibson1886 - " I LOATHE the scaling system in both Oblivion and Skryim". Yeah, why LEVELLING UP must be a weakness? That's really wrong.
DmitriyAgra 30 Oct, 2016 @ 10:58am
Do I have to start a new game?
Barbra. 1 Sep, 2016 @ 12:48pm
Restarting with this mod what difficulty do people recomend?!?!
mgibson1886 18 Aug, 2016 @ 9:07am
Old thread, but I had to comment. I haven't even installed this mod yet...still reading details and making sure I do the install right, but man have I been waiting to find this. I LOATHE the scaling system in both Oblivion and Skryim. For that reason ALONE Morrowind has always been my favorite ES game...just the fact that it was not a level-scaled world made it SO MUCH MORE IMMERSIVE. Do you hear me, Bethesda? Probs not. Anyway, Oblivion and Skyrim feel like cheap knockoffs created for mass attraction and profit, not hardcore RPGs made for people who really like adventure role-playing. All because of the leveling system. What a crock.

Thank you so much for making this.
Bedrock 17 Apr, 2016 @ 11:48am
can someone make a skyrim mod that replace's dragon theme with emperor's new cloths i looooove that song so much
Underdog 1 Dec, 2015 @ 11:01am
Thanks a lot! Finally some challenge... can't wait to bash those bandits kicking my ass now.
Kyrrisayo 16 Oct, 2015 @ 3:40pm
Wow.. When I reinstalled my OS and then Skyrim.. I played first, without this mod, forgetting that I had reset.. And it is just so much worse.. Thank you so much for what you've done here.
MadWolfZade 30 Jul, 2015 @ 12:55pm
"If you are a hardcore Skyrim player who wants the challenge of never knowing what will be around the next corner, and whether or not you are tough enough to face it, this might be a good mod for you."

^ I would put this at the top of the description, its a very eye-catching statement and might get you more subscribers :) This is a really neat idea and I'm definitely going to start a new game and run it this way at some point. +Fav
[RCC]Ebdanian 6 Apr, 2015 @ 8:31pm
This is an amazeing concept, and something i cant imagine playing without! Conbine this with skyrim unbound and frostfall and you have the game the way it should be played.
biltart_clorn 31 Mar, 2015 @ 10:19am
Great idea, but after trying this I must point out that you forgot something. The spell tomes for sale from vendors still use leveled lists. You should be able to buy ebonyflesh from the college regardless of how good at alteration you are. Coupling this mod with a true hardcore one, such as Dead is Dead, will make you a much better player. This seems to have some problems with crashing the game at spawn points, especially when you have many other mods running. I don't. I usually use one at a time, for an extended period, for testing.
moonjuice 17 Jan, 2015 @ 10:24am
Does anyone know if this mod works for the dlcs? I don't think the modder replies so if anyone can help out, it'd be much appreciated
Chime 11 Jan, 2015 @ 12:32pm
Flenmeister. If you really want to enjoy this mod, you have to understand that at levels 1-10 you are an absolute weakling. This is the time in the game that you have to rely on guards for protection, run from battles and find ways to train your skills that do not involve charging a full nest of bandits. I highly suggest using " Training dummies" along with this mod because it will allow you to train a low level charactor. Once you get to level 10-20 you can start to adventure like normal without problems, so long as you are smart about how you enguage the enemy and make sure you bring ample supplies. This mod makes the game much harder at early levels MUCH harder. Do not expect to be able to do hardly anything at level 1-5, you will die. If you can accept this and learn to avoid battles in the early game, the mod is amazing. Otherwise you will find yourself in a lot of unwinable battles and become frustrated.
FaZe RED 3 Jan, 2015 @ 6:09am
Thank You young sir for have to waste your time to have to make th game you want it, i understand what you saying with havng the game revolve around you.
Limpan 2 Jan, 2015 @ 2:33pm
The fact that i cant even beat the bandits outside the dungeon at level 2 at adept is fucking retarded. I usually go straight to bleak falls barrow and raid it. Now i cant even get in, and i wont go up in level because of just going to whiterun... Either it is something wrong, or you have just done a really bad mod. I hope you answer me soon, if you dont, I will just assume that you barely tried with this mod.

I like the idea of this mod, but either it is a bug or something is wrong, because the little bandit fort outside bleak falls barrow has bandit highwayman and plunderers...

Everything close to whiterun was supposed to be low level, I understand wher you want to come with this mod, but if I can beat bleak falls barrow at level 1 in skyRe at master, and not beat it now and adept, something must be wrong.

I just subbed and there should be nothing wrong...
Red October 2 Jan, 2015 @ 12:06pm
Hrm, what's the level cap for enemies in this mod? My character is around level 70 at this point, so I would like the highest level enemies to be the same or tougher than me (but bandits and their common ilk can stand to be static).
Frikster 27 Dec, 2014 @ 10:37am
This, for me, is fun. Thanx. But yea, really, again I recommend making it that all merchants sell some high level items straight from the get go. It'll give you the sense of working to earn enough money to buy something.
Frikster 27 Dec, 2014 @ 10:36am
First off: I highly recommend making merchants sell high level items and making it available from the start, but quadruple their price if you have to. There just should be a monetary way of acquiring anything and everything, just like in the real world. It really bothers me that there are these mines that aren't steel or iron in holds and the merchants dont sell any items of them :(

Other than that, I really really like this mod and I think the concept is spot on. To mitigate a character's weakness at the start, I set my player's level to 30 via console (without having him level up, so he is weak and pathetic but the game thinks he is on level 30) I then get followers - 5 of them using amazing follower tweaks - and their levels will all then be 30! My entourage helping the wayward dragonborn find his way. Even then, I still have to pay extra attention on what they're wearing and wielding as it makes a big difference.
HouseLyrander 3 Dec, 2014 @ 12:31am
What did you do to the Giant Aela kills near Whiterun? Because it looks like it's spawning in dead. Not sure if that's your mod or that event being broken in general
Marto Polo 25 Sep, 2014 @ 4:50pm
Been looking for something like this, was inclined to learn how to do it myself because my sneak character can't 1-hit guards anymore with my favourite gear.
AFARGU 24 Jul, 2014 @ 10:43am
I have a question. In my last game I played Skyrim with this mod, and i had a very serious problem. It turns out that throughout my game did not apeared a single dragon. I had to put a mod that increased encounters with dragons (and i do not know if that helped). I'm not sure if it's because of this mod, but ¿has this happened to anyone else?
Destructech_01 20 Jul, 2014 @ 1:37am
Yay always enjoy making the game harder. It provides that much more immersion.
Teratus 1 Jul, 2014 @ 9:42am
I give your mod a try out but it's not quite what I was hoping for

it does make the early game a fair bit harder but the loot is still too common..

I didn't even get to the Spider in Bleak falls barrow before having a 3 full sets of Scald armor and 6 full sets of Leather..

Weapons seem to be ok though I didn't find anything higher than Steel which I liked but the Armor worn by enemy bandits is just too high ranking..(didn't fight any other factions)

I don't think Scald armor should be available soo early in the game. specially since It sells for soo much and the early game enemies could be a little weaker tbh
I was able to kill most of them but being one shotted by a bandit with a imperial bow and steal arrows is a little too much..
good mod idea though I look forward to more updates and more balance
Teratus 28 Jun, 2014 @ 2:53am
I have to say I love this idea

but at the same time I need a fair bit of reassurance..

one thing I am absolutely sick of is Dragon and Vampire attacks on towns
I've downloaded mods to make civilian npc's flee but sometimes they just don't work..
nothing is more annoying that a Elder Dragon or 2 master vampires attacking a town and every single NPC in the area gets killed off before you can even reach the first damn vampire and hit him

will this Mod also effect those encounters? because when I play skyrim I aim to complete all quests and that requires me to ensure that all NPCs involved with quests survive.. at least until I've finished the quests
Vileria 20 May, 2014 @ 3:51am
I am definitely downloading this, I was playing skyrim just now, and I wiped out almost an entire army of vamps, I want a challenge, I am using the multiple followers mod and they have pretty bad armor and weapons, and it took me 20 seconds to kill a blood dragon, I also have bad weapons and armor- and I'm a level 28 now. CHALLENGE ME TAMRIEL!
Bouldy 4 May, 2014 @ 5:44am
Is there mod like this but just for loot?
Baron Von DickButt III 7 Apr, 2014 @ 5:05pm
heres where im getting killed alot: silent moon camp by bandit plunderers chiefs.
maybe lower the levels of bandits around whiterun to anything under plunderer.

Baron Von DickButt III 7 Apr, 2014 @ 10:06am
this mod is great unless your a low level mage at which point some things become impossible because im fighting draugr deathlords at lvl 8 and they take out 90% of my health with one arrow. maybe adding a level trigger is best for people who want a challange but actually want to proceed with the quest or dungoen crawl.
Chime 16 Mar, 2014 @ 11:57am
Usually level 20-30 is a good time to trigger the dragons, so you still have more of a challenge. No, most of the mobs will not scale with you, so once you get higher level you should expect less of a challenge from most enemies. I would suggest taking on things like dwemer dungeons and dragons at your level, or just pushing the difficulty meter to like adept.
A-Furyan 5 Mar, 2014 @ 9:32pm
Hello good sir i have a question. I use your mod and find it awesome, i love now that bandits aren't getting glass and ebony sets of shit, and everything just seems more realistic shop keeper wise. One thing though. I am currently level 26 and noticed that your main spawn level is 15-20 with like 77% chance encounter. My question is what happens if i get higher in level? As it is i am starting to really smoosh characters at level 20 being i am 6 levels higher and this gap is only going to get wider.... so At level 40 will i still be fighting level 20 NPC's?
ForemostCrab7 1 Mar, 2014 @ 6:36pm
ok...i think this mod is not made for those who have done New Game cuz Bandit Maradure and plundere have shown up, and Ancient vampires, havent seen an ancient dragon yet but im sure its not far behind....
ForemostCrab7 1 Mar, 2014 @ 9:42am
the mod is awesome but, when i made a new game and i got to Bleak Falls Barrow then some of the Bandit archers got Glass Arrows is that seppouse to be part of the mod or is it a bug or something ive found? cuz its a lil odd that the mele bandits takes forever to kill me with heavy weapons but the archers can kill me on two hits idk if that is sepouse to be part of the realisticness of the mod or simply an error.
Nickname Failure 27 Feb, 2014 @ 2:55pm
You are awesome, this is realistic.
Walsingham 14 Feb, 2014 @ 2:25am
Have a half formed notion to make a more dynamic system. Give me ap poke in a couple of weeks, see if anything has gelled.
Lakersrgood 5 Feb, 2014 @ 11:52am
what about if you made certain areas scaled so that low level characters can level there, and then other areas that are scaled to be good to level for medium leveled characters, and some scaled to be good for high level characters to level. And have the rest of the areas be random. oh and i would recommend adding bosses to the end of dungeons to make it more challenging and make the dungeons less repetitive. just a suggestion
longsworder 3 Feb, 2014 @ 11:54am
This is the first and only mod that I have tried to install/subscribe to. Whenever I start my Skyrim Legendary Edition, I get the error "failed to download a subscribed file! Steam error 2" Does anyone know what I'm missing?
Jannis 21 Jan, 2014 @ 3:06pm
Just started a new game using this mod. Finally, I don't feel like the game is constantly trying to just let me win... Gee, I died so often... I absolutely love it!
Blyatislava 19 Jan, 2014 @ 9:54am
I AGREE!
Spongeroberto Squarepantalones 1 Jan, 2014 @ 6:33am
Love this mod. A must-have.
CaptainFeeny 13 Dec, 2013 @ 7:04am
Why mess with the starting levels of enemies? Just leave the enemies at a low level from the start so that when you level up you can do some badass taking out of single enemies with one fowl swoop! Is there another mod like this where the starting enemies aren't levelled up?
Smiley 30 Nov, 2013 @ 6:34pm
i love this mod!
TyranicalMastermind 28 Nov, 2013 @ 2:36pm
I love this mod sooo much I may have also posted this on nexus but yeah awesome job. every quest is now epic until I hit lvl 25 then for the most part the tables are turned. Love it.
