oh and the trick to open the exit door, nice idea! didn't actually realise that gel applied on one side of the bridge effects both sides

impressive puzles, some pretty tricky. it's sometimes difficult to tell what to do (personally I wasn't aware of the propulsion gel's effect on the cubes, I haven't done co-op yet (and before people start asking me to help with their achievement, sorry I already promised to do it with someone else when she gets the game, but feel free to console yourself by rating my test chambers!) so ended up googling it after reading the comments) but it's very well designed, the only real problem is the limited number of symbols meaning some get re-used but that's a limitation of the tools

I wasn't particularly happy with the entrance to the last room either but every other way I moved the clear flip panels it blocked an antline or made a symbol difficult to see which are already a bit sketchy. I'm also aware that the player can get stuck down there but I've made sure the player only gets stuck if they don't think it through, I'd like to think players would be able to see that potential mistake before they make it.
Thanks for all the feedback on this and my other chambers as well, it's definitely appreciated for any future chambers I might end up designing.

Not a bad chamber. I liked the 2nd chamber with the killer buttons. When I entered this room I just thought: omg symbols... but it wasn't that chaotic as it seemed, once you started going it all turned out to be pretty clear after all.
I think the way you have to enter the lower area could be inproved. First time I went down without cube. Several times I got down there while the cube (which I WAS holding) seemed to be stucked above in the laserfield area. Forcing you to walk through all rooms again to get the cube back up and bounce yourself down again.
I got myself continually reloading from this point to avoid having to redo stuff all the time, which pretty much destroyed my pleasant gameplay.
Also note: IF you shoot 2 portals down there, you are stuck.

The exit room was nice too. I just didn't know gel covers both sides of a light bridge when hit. Thanks for teaching me that :)

Played all the "Elements", this Argon was so brilliant and clever,I can only imagine when you make an Einsteinium test chamber how excellent it will be!

Holy $h!+! I finally figured this thing out, and what a headache it was. Damn you have outdone yourself on this one, nicklonium...this was quite frustrating. From the very few portalable walls to the multitudes of laser fields, it really pissed me off. I played for an hour yesterday then ragequit. I played a few other chambers after with ease. Woke up today and loaded the game and there it was: Argon. Thought about skipping it but gave it a go again and this time things started clicking. That's why the lone slanted panel was there, to reach the cube :D . After that it went easily till the last room, where I got stuck on activating the gravity funnel. Spent at least 20 minutes trying to do all sorts of acrobatics till I figured out how to properly apply gel to the inside of the light bridges .

Since you gave me a nice run and a lot of pain and frustration, I call this an excellent chamber! Now I'm going to strangle you :P

Glad you enjoyed it, that exit door clearly isn't working the way I'd like it to (despite working perfectly fine when I download it). I'll switch it out for something a bit less glitchy. Thanks for playing.
stormsend 23 Oct, 2013 @ 8:57am
I had a lot of fun and some small frustration (due to my low skill level). I had to go around the first chamber twice (forgot the cube). The funnel to the cube button in the second chamber was good (took me a while to figure out). Like most people, I guess, I had to die once before I started paying attention to what the buttons do. Ouch. I liked the faith plate in the corral. I kept losing the cube on the final jump (thanks F6). And I'm sorry to say the exit was open when I first saw it. I went back for the cube anyway. Very nice map. Some great ideas. Thank you.
EuroSong 11 Oct, 2013 @ 12:41pm
To be honest I can't remember exactly how it was set up when I entered the final room. I just remember that the exit was open. I'm busy playing your other "elements" chambers now... :)
nicklonium  [author] 10 Oct, 2013 @ 12:46pm
How annoying, thought I'd fixed it, it works perfectly when I build it in the editor and when I subscribe to it and play it. Is the laser in the last room shooting directly across the room or is it already skewed into the emitter linked to the exit door? Also, are the other skewed lasers (which are just for decoration) in the second room skewed too? I'm just trying to work out if it's an isolated issue or if it's affecting all the lasers in the chamber.
EuroSong 10 Oct, 2013 @ 11:03am
Wow - that first part was tricky! I had fun though. But when I got to the exit room, I found the exit wide open. I didn't go through immediately, and experimented with the rest of the items - and I saw what you needed to do by funelling the cube up to the laser. presumably, this was meant to unlock the exit... although as I said, it was already open. Take a look at the item links?
nicklonium  [author] 8 Oct, 2013 @ 4:59pm
The 30 degree angled panel that was originally in place was fine for the way toward the second room but, apparently, it was inadequate for the return journey in the right timing so I added the little reversed funnel mechanic to make it possible.
Swatacular 8 Oct, 2013 @ 2:03pm
Hmm.. I see that it activates the panels.. but why gravity?
nicklonium  [author] 8 Oct, 2013 @ 8:41am
That's there to allow the player back to go back and collect the companion cube if they forget it, it isn't immediately clear that the companion cube will be needed beyond the first room.
Swatacular 8 Oct, 2013 @ 8:05am
I liked it, I cant figure out what the button after the ramp jumps in the first room was used for.. The one that activates negitive gravity. next to the button.
nicklonium  [author] 8 Oct, 2013 @ 1:54am
F6 is quick save. This one was a much quicker one than most chambers. It started with the laser relay in the first room which allows for two buttons to activate the same items independently (an idea I'd had stored for a while) and then just evolved from there over a couple of weeks while I was waiting for GTA V to come out.
SnickerSnacker 7 Oct, 2013 @ 6:23pm
I tried this Level, found it impressive, and a little annoying since you have the loading screen on each death. Great level, How long did it take to make it?
nicklonium  [author] 5 Oct, 2013 @ 11:02am
There's a reason I've placed another clear angled panel other than the ones on the walls.
presto668 5 Oct, 2013 @ 8:48am
I am aware of that, but you need it to raise the stairs to push the button so you can get to the second room. I don't see how you can take it wish you or go back to get it.
nicklonium  [author] 5 Oct, 2013 @ 1:54am
There's a cube in the previous room, the clue is in the name "companion"
presto668 4 Oct, 2013 @ 7:08pm
Sure. And if I knew how to *get* a cube that would be great.
wildgoosespeeder 4 Oct, 2013 @ 9:04am
@presto668
Second hint: You did something similar in the coop campaign with an orange gel covered cube...
nicklonium  [author] 4 Oct, 2013 @ 4:25am
The previous hint should be enough to get you started in that room.
presto668 30 Sep, 2013 @ 4:58pm
I got as far as the annoying noise room.
wildgoosespeeder 30 Sep, 2013 @ 7:27am
@presto668
First hint: Coat the cube in orange gel .
nicklonium  [author] 30 Sep, 2013 @ 2:31am
How far do you get before becoming confused? I'd rather not spell it out but I can drop a few hints.
presto668 29 Sep, 2013 @ 3:55pm
I gave up, noclipped/godded around and I *still* can't figure out what the heck you're supposed to do.
wildgoosespeeder 25 Sep, 2013 @ 8:42am
Your overuse and unintentional recycling of symbols makes it very hard to pay attention. Too much going on. It isn't puzzling. It is just annoying. People in general on the Portal 2 Workshop have a difficult time seeing this fine line.
nicklonium  [author] 25 Sep, 2013 @ 8:36am
I didn't say it wasn't a penalty. I said it's a penalty for not paying attention. What's the point in playing (or even designing) a test if the player isn't going to pay attention to what's going on in the chamber? Killing the player for not paying attention is entirely justified.
Just tested the autosave/load to see if affects the exit door and it appears to make no difference.
wildgoosespeeder 25 Sep, 2013 @ 7:51am
No, it's a penalty no matter how you look at it.

I don't know why the door was open. I did autosave with F6 and autoload with F7 because of the penalty mentioned before.
nicklonium  [author] 25 Sep, 2013 @ 2:18am
No, a penalty for not paying attention to symbols. Otherwise that room is just mindless button pressing and portalling until a laser grid turns off i.e. the player has to think before they act.
I'm not sure why the door was already open, it shouldn't be and when I subscribe/play through this, the door is closed. It never happened in any of my tests so if anyone else experiences this or if you'd like to resubscribe to see if it happens again (it may be due to an oversight in the previous iteration of the chamber which has since been updated), I would be quite interested.
wildgoosespeeder 24 Sep, 2013 @ 9:04pm
Wow, a penalty for pressing the wrong buttons? Sadistic much?

The last part was pointless because I found the door already open!

Try my map?

Wow, this map is insane! So much happening all around that it takes awhile to focus in on what really needs to be done.
nicklonium  [author] 23 Sep, 2013 @ 2:08am
How bizarre, I get that error sometimes when I play other chambers but couldn't seem to find a root cause. I've republished it to update the files on Steam's side, would you mind attempting to resubscribe to it?
MachManX 22 Sep, 2013 @ 10:00pm
Cannot download. Just says "An Error Occured When Downloading This Map".

I have subscribed to all of your chambers and will play through them today and tomorrow :)
