Unlikely, since it only makes use of assets already in the game.

Very cool mod!! But like other reskin mods, will this mod also have frame loss?
WARner95  [author] 10 Apr, 2021 @ 1:37pm
@rorek55 took me longer than it should, but I have managed to get that suggestion of yours to work!
JAPANDOTA2最高 27 Oct, 2020 @ 3:16pm
awesome mod bro!
WARner95  [author] 27 Aug, 2020 @ 6:50pm
@WOODAL Thank you for the support! ^^
WARner95  [author] 27 Aug, 2020 @ 6:49pm
@rorek55 I've tried doing that, but the hat endes up clipping through the back of the leather armour. That being said, I could try using a different chest piece alongside the hat. I'll see what I can do!
WOOT!wooT!! 25 Aug, 2020 @ 11:11pm
best reskin mod

Just a peasants two cents, but I think the yi marksmen would look even better if they kept he hats from the yi archers instead of the helmets.

@Kokito [part 3/3]

Can't say much about it breaking historic look, tho I'll admit no actual research took place while making this mod. :P

Again thanks for the feedback and support!
WARner95  [author] 20 Jan, 2020 @ 6:21pm
@Kokito [part 2/3]

The regular units all got the same helmet, as to have it be a sort standard issue gear. The mercenaries however received a more varied set of equipment and weapons, from head to foot gear, as well as weapon and shield. That was how I (and @Grimskar, who actually gave the idea) imagined a unit of mercenaries to look like, dressing and wielding whatever they bought themselves or looted from the battlefield.
Of course I could've kept some of them wearing clothes on their heads, but I figured anyone fighting on the frontlines for a living would prefer having better protection while doing so. The only piece of equipment I kept as standard for all mercenaries was the chest piece (there are 2 variants, but with minor differences). The reason why is that I wanted them to still look unique, as they are unique units for the most part, and since very few units wear this piece of armour, I decided to have all mercenary units have it as a "signature" chest piece of sorts.
WARner95  [author] 20 Jan, 2020 @ 6:18pm
@Kokito Thanks for the feedback and for the support!

Yeah the mod really is a "helmets for everyone" kind of thing, for the most part XD. When I started working on this mod, my main goal was to give the mid tier units (sabre infantry, archers etc) a more distinct look compared to their militia counterparts, to make the player feel like his army has improved not only in it's units's stats, but also in their look.
That said, I didn't want to completely revamp their armour, as I was fine with most of it, ahthough the lamellar chest piece worn by said mid-tier units didn't look that much different compared to the chest pieces worn by militia, so the one thing I decided to change was the headgear, swapping those leather caps for a proper lamellar helmet.

[rest of reply above, as Steam won't allow comments with more than 1k characters >.<]
Kokke 15 Jan, 2020 @ 7:49am
you basically put helmets on everyone XD Mercenary where fine with cloth and all. this broke a lot historic look and honestly it made it more gteneric. since the helmets are way too similar andc doesnt look adhoc at all. beside that, amazing mod. cheers

But there's nothing to update yet. I've just resumed modding and finished tweaking a couple of units from the Eight Princes DLC. The update for it should go live soon. As for this mod, I'll return to it as soon as the other one is done, and will address some of the Dragon units.
SOLJI 10 Oct, 2019 @ 9:02pm
update plz!!
Revelation 22 Aug, 2019 @ 9:02pm
nice!
WARner95  [author] 22 Aug, 2019 @ 7:12pm
Revelation 21 Aug, 2019 @ 6:30pm
Neat! will you do two mods then a third all in one?
WARner95  [author] 21 Aug, 2019 @ 6:26pm
And speaking of the DLC, my Eight Princes mod should be ready for upload by tomorrow! :D
WARner95  [author] 21 Aug, 2019 @ 6:24pm
Yeah, there's a huge inconsistency between armour appearance and it's value. Most of the DLC units are no exception. Just compare Qi Guardsmen and Xiongnu Cataphracts, for instance: Both have an armour value of 53%, but while the Cataphracts are fully cladded in lamellar armour from head to toe, the Qi Guardsmen are only wearing a lamellar cuirass, shoulder pads, skirt armour and a helmet. No vambraces or greaves whatsoever XD
Revelation 21 Aug, 2019 @ 6:18pm
Honestly the whole system in total war is odd, two units wearing the same armour with diff armour stats? Heavy inf with better/bigger shields with less arrow block chance? ummmmmm okay CA, OKAY! XD
WARner95  [author] 21 Aug, 2019 @ 6:15pm
No problem! XD
That shield design does look kinda weird indeed. Maybe it's meant for blocking melee attacks and to punch people, rather than to block missile fire.
Revelation 21 Aug, 2019 @ 8:18am
Thanks! and sorry to trouble you XD
Revelation 21 Aug, 2019 @ 8:17am
ah I went to check....over everything I found the picture.. yeah tehy are supposed to be there omg... they look so bad lol. also like, what the hell XD I don't understand why higher units would have less arrow block chance... but looking at these shields XD wow.
WARner95  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 6:49pm
Those smaller, grey shields would be the problem?
Revelation 20 Aug, 2019 @ 3:27pm

As you can see, it kinda works... literally two mods (any reskin + historical seems to have the same outcome)
Revelation 20 Aug, 2019 @ 1:52pm
yeah I can I've even tried other reskins, so I have no idea... I'll be on in a while and I'll post. hope it can somehow be helpful.... tho I guess it's something wrong with realistic because it seems to be there that mod + anyone elses reskin.
WARner95  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 12:45pm
I've checked the Jian Swordguards with both mods and only with the Realistic Weapons mod, and the shields looked exactly the same.
Can you send me a screenshot of the problem you are experiencing?
Revelation 20 Aug, 2019 @ 10:31am
I'm getting a weird thing pop up like they are holding a bit of metal... no shield is there for jian/med sword unit with the two mods together (its like the back of a shields or something?) anyway thought I'd ask you if you had noticed this also!?
WARner95  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 6:13am
@진Jin It's compatible with my mod already. Tried it myself :D

Only units it does not affect are the ones which have had it's weapons/shields changed by my mod, like the Warriors of the Left and the Defenders of Hebei.
Revelation 19 Aug, 2019 @ 9:12pm
Would you consider asking and adding this mod to yours? or at least make it compat?

The above mod is the realistic weapons mod. its awesome! But your mod is too sweet to give up :P
WARner95  [author] 16 Aug, 2019 @ 3:27pm
Alright, after messing around some more with several units I feel like this update is pretty much ready. The preview video should be in the page in 10 minutes or so, with the update itself set for upload some time later!
Metal Izanagi 14 Aug, 2019 @ 5:59pm
These reskins look really good!
Grimskar 13 Aug, 2019 @ 3:17pm
awesome news!!
WARner95  [author] 12 Aug, 2019 @ 7:11pm
@jess2lazy I'll look it that after I'm done with the next update, which shouldn't take long. A couple of days at most!

@Grimskar Already finished the Qiang units, and currently working on the Mercenaries! I've been also working on that separate mod for the DLC, which should be uploaded alongside this one's update! I'll try and post another comparison preview video tomorrow, as soon as I'm done with the mercenaries!
Grimskar 12 Aug, 2019 @ 3:03pm
how goes the next update? :O
JZ2Lazy 11 Aug, 2019 @ 8:33am
Hi! Thanks for the update again, I love your work. This mod would be perfect for me if the Jian Sword Guard Inf/Cav could wear heavier armor similar to the ones in the Vanilla Units Remaster mod. Is it possible you could make an alternative version to the unit that wears lamellar as opposed to them wearing leather?
WARner95  [author] 8 Aug, 2019 @ 2:05pm
Update post-DLC released!
Changes made: Mounted Crossbowmen received same armour as Mounted Archers.
WARner95  [author] 8 Aug, 2019 @ 7:03am
@Grimskar Yeah, the lack of helmets on the mercenaries always struck me as weird, as definitely something I'd get to fix when modding them.
As for the ideas, keep'em coming! Those are always welcome. Your idea about adding more variety to the mercenaries is actually a wonderful idea I did not contemplate before, since all other units were modded towards uniformity, instead of variety! So thanks for the awesome idea :D
Grimskar 8 Aug, 2019 @ 3:45am
I love playing as Sun Jian, and the mercenaries have always looked wierd to me. These are men for hire, their armor and weapons arent restricted by the limitations of the standard army. Their money goes to their armor and weapons to make them better mercenaries to earn more money! I see them having quite a variety of gear but quite high up in the scale of protection and weapon quality (helmets for the love of god!).
Its your mod ofc, im just spouting ideas! I only dabbled with Rome 2's mod tools and created a reskin for rome in the divided empire campaign, which is hwy I like this mod so much because my idea was a very basic version of yours, make the units look uniform at their different levels of quality so the army doest look like a mish mash group.
Grimskar 8 Aug, 2019 @ 3:39am
Thankyou for all your fast responses. I see what you mean about the tiger / leopard cav. And thankyou for taking a look at the mercenaries and the Quang cav!
WARner95  [author] 7 Aug, 2019 @ 7:15pm
@Grimskar I can see some room for improvement for the Qiang Cavalry and the Mercenary units, but I don't think that's the case for the Tiger and Leopard Cavalry. Their armour already makes them look both unique and professional. In fact, no other unit shares the armour worn by them. But I'll still tamper with them just in case.

In other news, I've checked some of the units from the Eight Princes DLC, and I've already seen some units that could use a reskin. I will get to update most of them through a separate mod, as those are exclusive to the DLC. This however does not apply to the 4 units which will also become available in the main campaign, as those are coming as part of the 1.2.0 update, not as part of the DLC.

If you want to take a look at the new units for yourself, check Zerkovich's video: https://youtu.be/FdFMKcGhuik

The update 1.06 of the mod is going to be uploaded in a couple of minutes, and a small hotfix might follow up tomorrow, after the DLC is released.
Grimskar 7 Aug, 2019 @ 4:11pm
New update video looks great!

Suggestion for units next:

- All Quang horses for Meng
- Leopard and Tiger Cav
- Mercenaries for Sun Jian
WARner95  [author] 7 Aug, 2019 @ 12:53pm
Reuploaded the video to include units I previously forgot to display!
Update show go live in a couple of hours.
WARner95  [author] 7 Aug, 2019 @ 8:10am
As promised, here are the changes for this update (check the video)! It should be applied later tonight, but until then feel free to give suggestions on other units you'd like to see modded and tell me what you guys think about the changes made!
WARner95  [author] 5 Aug, 2019 @ 5:28pm
I'm happy to hear that @Grimskar
I intend to upload some pictures with the changes made for this update by tomorrow, and upload the update itself by wednesday or thursday, prior to the Eight Princes DLC release.

Keep an eye out for changes in the images above! And thanks for the support!
Grimskar 5 Aug, 2019 @ 8:07am
loving the mod. Its nice to have an army that looks unified and less like a random bunch of guys who decided to turn up on a sunday. When you enter the mid tier units your army feels professional now. Cant wait to see what else you improve with this mod!
WARner95  [author] 3 Aug, 2019 @ 9:59am
@Jesse2lazy Glad that you liked the mod mate!
I've already begun working on the next update, and those two units are on the list!
They are still going to be wearing leather armour, as their armour value is lower than that of Sabre Infantry/ Cavalry for example. But you can still expect them to look way more professional after the update is applied!

Again, thanks for the support!
JZ2Lazy 3 Aug, 2019 @ 8:36am
Thanks for the mod, but I noticed the Jian Sword Guard Cav/Inf now look like they're wearing inferior (leather) armor vs Sabre Cav/Inf. Could you possibly make the Jian look more professional? Thanks again.
WARner95  [author] 31 Jul, 2019 @ 6:00am
You are welcome @Sougo! I'm glad you liked the mod :D
