hello, i just produced the E-136 "AETHER" but even with now 40% fuel filled the thrusters wont start and it still says 0,0 min fly time. is there something i´m missing?
already thx when you respond, since its a really old build, but still looks amazing. great work there!

While this ship is pretty outdated I love the look and managed to modify it to work on my friends server. First thing I did was just remove all the RCS and replaced with fuel tanks or O2 tanks. Never can have too much fuel I guess lol. Then I added weapons.. 4 H-Rocket, 4 Rail Guns on the front. 2 minigun turrets on the front and 2 minigun turrets on the back. Looks like a beast. I didn't bother upgrading the hull... too much work but you really shouldn't let the shields deplete anyhow. With the additions it becomes a CPU4 ship... just under 100k cpu. It's worth reworking if you want to use it... its still a great ship.

Playing solo survival, by far my favorite starting SV to packuyp and move in, off the starting planet.

hey garyp156. the Aether is still the way it was. the Aeres is the upgraded military version. Trust me. no cargo space gone :P

Holy crap. Why?? All that cargo space gone. I thought it flew fine w/o them. That's just my opinion.
We added huge cargo areas on the left and one on the right because this is our runaround and pillage. Then we dock it to the back of the Asteria Destroyer.

I found that over 10 is an overkill for an SV or HV. Maybe it's my game but I didn't see any difference in handling, but my machine is a beast lol.
If someone knows different, please let me know. (about the game, not my pc rofl)

No worries. I removed the beds (heartbroken) and added more storage. I can use that more then the beds. I wish we could put bug killing turrets on these SV's

I just seen this on Xcalibers workshop with spanj and after seeing all the feature's it had and the weight it can carry I just had to come grab it plus being an old bloke it remind's me of the days when they made cool looking cars. Great Build Mate.

@Chocolate Bear the turning radius issue can be somewhat helped with about 30 strategically placed RCS's (rip out the excess cargo boxes for starters). I ended up replacing all the steel blocks with hardened steel and the front glass window panels with armored glass. This improved repair needs considerably. Even with shields on full some damage will get through and crack/remove windows occasionally. With armored glass though they stopped getting blown out completely.

Nobody would mistake it for a fighter craft even now but I can hit all my autominers and destroy the drones in the way without having to worry about excessive repairs when I get back.

Just tried it out with a friend, swapped out a few cargo boxes for generators and RCS but I think it's a bit too big and clunky for my taste. It turns slowly even with the extra RCS and it accelerates quite slowly unless I slam all the thrusters on but even still.. Also I've never used shields before but somehow the window got blown open with shields at 100% so I probably pulled a lever or something and turned it off ?

Movement aside, it carries a fuck ton of stuff and I mean I raided 5 bases back to back with it and had no problems (apart from the front getting blown off) and it looks amazing ! But don't think I'll be using it as a fighter just cause of the clunkiness. As a cargo/transport ship however it's amazing.

I would highly recommend replacing half the fuel tanks with generators to ensure proper power. Also, a gen to tank ratio of 4 or 6 to 1 will help with power and function.

Thrashaero, Thank you for the detailed feedback. I am trying to find a balance between aesthetics and functionality. I'm beginning to notice (at least with this build) that it's a dance with the devil. I may have to chop it up and do a design overhaul.

@wahnfriedenator Theres a maxed out cargo controller and ammo controller for all your storage needs. The cargo boxes are kind of filler in a lot of places (above the bed even). I ended up removing most of them and putting in more RCS's. Thrash was right. I tried replacing a lot of the engines with larger varients and aside from a noticeable blip in acceleration it did not improve turning. Packing in RCS's seems to be the only thing that can help. Right now the only place left for me to stuff them would be under the ships floor between the fairing, I could probably cram another 20-30 down there. I hope that helps.

I have yet to test the ship on a 4-Gravity world we have nearby and I am almost scared to. We call it "Hell World" for a reason. Unless you have enough lift to get off the ground, you are stuck there when you land. Surrounded by the biggest nasties the game has to offer and breaking your legs every time you jump more than 2 feet up.

There is simply too much mass for the amount of RCS. The RCS have a certain amount of torque and until the total torque is at a certain percentage of the total mass it's not going to pitch/roll/yaw well.

Maybe get rid of some things that it has enough of like some of the 44 fuel tanks or other things that weigh a lot and not particularly necessary. You have 22 engines for ascend thrust, could probably get away with much less or consolidated into larger engines with less total weight. I know it's easier said than done.

@Orclover, adding extra/larger engines is not going to affect the problem of attitude. Those only affect the acceleration of line movement: forward/reverse, slide left/right. ascend up/down. Not the rotational speed of pitch/roll/yaw. In fact extra/larger engines would only add to the required torque to overcome.

Thank you elder! As for the Nimble in turning sadly there is not much more I can do. I crammed in another 32 RCS last night In every conceivable place I could find a gap. As for the drone hatch maybe you could slap a shutter door in the floor of the “bedroom”. I will say if you go up you’re going to run into the warp drive. I will delve into this a bit more and see what I find

I love this ship and the look but two request if I may. One is to make it a bit more nimble on turns as it is hard to turn in relation to how well it moves. Second is maybe to add a drone hatch if it does not ruin the design.

Regardless it is an incredible design and thank you for sharing.

I am trying to get the steering under control right now. I tried piling on another dozen RCS's where I could under the hood and adding 3 more engines to the side and it barely made a dent. Anybody try adding XL or L class engines to it? It doesnt have to turn on dime but a quarter would be nice.

Thanks Thrashaero. You hit the nail on the head with that one. It’s not intended to be a fighter at all. Mainly cargo/exploration. Enough room to manage all the POI’s loot and then some.
