+1, it doesn't even show up. Tried to launch game without any other mods on, no effect. Have to use "older version" of this mod.

Im hoping you could explain how one changes the category a weapon belongs i dont want the name change as it messes with the other mods im using that change SMG'sbut ive been desperately trying to find a way to change SMG's to their own weapon category myself.

default setting is fault. edit to true.

Added an option inside the configuration file to change the weapon category from "rifle" to "SMG", meaning the SMGs will now be treated as their own weapon instead of being treated like a rifle variant.

Which file do you edit? Please and thank you.

@Valvatorez No. Most mods search for template names and this one has different ones. Might change that in the future, but for now, this isn't a suitable replacement.

Can this be used in place of the Long War 2 SMGS for mods that require them?

@CptnHappyTimePie I don't use ABB so I'm not 100% sure this is it, but theoretically you should add this line:

AllowedWeapons=(SlotType=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon, WeaponType="SMG")

Near the similar ones for each class you want to be able to equip SMGs.

@Veehementia I was hoping for advice again please? I've set them to use the 'SMG' weapon category in the INI and I do have both of the following installed;

I'm using ABB, and can't figure out / understand how to use the two above mods. What line from this mod would I need to add to the XComClassData.ini for the classes of ABB (specialist, scout, ranger, agent, saboteur) to use these smg's? Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

when i upgrade the smgs to the next tier any smgs that had attachments on dont upgrade ,which is really annoying when you dont have the breakthrough that lets you remove attachments .

is anyone else having this problem ?

@Veehementia ok, as I suspected then. It's safe to say though that any mod compatible with the original WOTC SMG mod but regardless also be incompatible with your reimplementation would also be i9ncompatible with A Better Barracks and any mod incompatible with the original WOTC SMG mod that was also rendered compatible by your reimplementation?

in short: your mod is "incompatible" with the WOTC SMG submods, but said mods are already incompatible with the mods your version gains compatibility with, so no net loss, right?

@MrMister It depends on how said mod goes about modifying values, but I'd say it's a 99.9% the template name change is going to prevent it. In short, I'm afraid this isn't able to replace the WOTC mod. For now at least; might just update it as to make the template name change configurable, so you could have both the og template names and the different weapon category. Hang tight, I guess?

Question: Would any other mods that modify the stats of SMGs as they are in the original WOTC SMG Mod also modify this one, or does the template rename prevent them from doing so?

In short, can this mod replace WOTC SMG Mod in any modlist without any detriment?

@BorgadnRager Is linked to AR breakthroughs only if you leave the weapon category as rifle, otherwise it has no breakthroughs. Might fix this at a later date though.

@Deadput Really? Sorry man, haven't seen it. Didn't want to trivialize your work or anything, I just have never seen another mod do it so I thought it was fair game, since it was something that bugged me a fair amount as well.

Not trying to make an advertisement sorry but just wanted to state that I also just put out a class mod that has the SMG's as their own weapon category.

Hopefully this is the beginning of using other weapon mods as their own weapon types for class mods.

It now works! Note that you need to start a new campaign for the SMGs to show up.

Ah so that's why the SMG mod wasn't compatible with ABB.

It looks like this is still a work in progress and currently isn't showing up with ABB. I'm helping Veehementia out with testing though, so hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
