Monitor It!

Is there a log file I can check?
AikonEnohp 3 Jan, 2024 @ 6:05am
In my case, it worked on the initial attempt but not there after even though it shows subscribed and enabled in Skyve and when I check directly via the workshop.

There is a setting in Monitor it options called smothen frame rate. I'm not exactly sure what it does but I think it shows how smooth your frame rate is. Either way, if you turn it off, frame rate better matches reality.
PoliteCanadian 21 Jul, 2023 @ 4:15pm
Noticed that Monitor It! is reporting different FPS than both Steam and Radeon tools (consistently higher), and was curious on what might be causing this?
yykk0532 14 Jul, 2023 @ 6:55pm
What is the best way to solve this problem?
Beast 30 Jun, 2023 @ 9:40am
@rex 2 theme mixers in that list, make sure you unsubscribe completely to the old one
rexthesecond 30 Jun, 2023 @ 5:45am
@Keallu Yes. These are my Mod List. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2474026686

I was going by the Skyve recommendation. It saying that the FPS display that I was using wouldn't be updated due to the dev being retired. FPS Booster by Krzychu1245 and the display Fissll. I tried this one and find it anywhere. So. I loaded the other one from J108560.

I just need a FPS display. I got a Walmart HP home W10 PC. It only has a 950 gpu (I think) with 16g of rams. If the FPS drop below 12. It lag badly. I try to keep it near 18 to 20. It never got above 24 FPS. New PC won't happen till next year.

@rexthesecond: Do you use other mods?
rexthesecond 26 Jun, 2023 @ 3:01am
Didn't show up in the Content Manger under MODS or in OPTIONS. Sub, Un-Sub then Re-Sub. Restart game. Got nothing.
UglyCoyote 16 May, 2023 @ 10:36pm
@mbutton15 I have 45 mods 300+ objects. I have 64GB of memory in my computer, at times the game took up to 45GB (53GB the entire system).
mbutton15 2 Apr, 2023 @ 7:54am
OK. Thanks for the replies.
Keallu  [author] 2 Apr, 2023 @ 7:51am
@mbutton15: Bigger page file will not do much so just enjoy the game as it is.
mbutton15 2 Apr, 2023 @ 7:37am
I play pretty much just base game and 2 DLC: Mass Transit & Park Life. No workshop assets. Maybe 30 or so park assets I've created, do they count ?? Extra Landscaping Tools is about the only mod I use.
Can't afford a PC upgrade at the moment. So would a bigger page file help in the mean time, or does it have to be physical RAM ?
Current spec: Win7, AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7 (3100 Mhz), 8GB RAM. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 (2GB RAM)
Keallu  [author] 2 Apr, 2023 @ 7:24am
@mbutton15: More physical memory is recommended if you run with many mods and assets.
mbutton15 1 Apr, 2023 @ 12:41pm
Sorry, not really sure what my results are telling me. Physical 6053MB. Virtual 8387MB. Paged 1.45MB. Non-paged 0.29MB.
I have 8GB RAM. Virtual is set to 8116MB. Do I need to increase it ? If so, to what ?
cahubble09 31 Mar, 2023 @ 4:04pm
This mod is showing no data when I am in-game. There is nothing on the compatibility report so I have no idea how to go about trouble-shooting. I first subbed it after Sunset Harbor and before Airports. I have already tried unsubbing and resubbing.
CosmicFurFace 3 Mar, 2023 @ 4:23pm
@Jimi Wan Also look at FPS Booster, it helped me. And I'm told the base game only uses 2 threads, and from what I've seen, when either of those is maxed out, the game is slowed (I've never seen over 35% total CPU used, even with 400k cims).
Keallu  [author] 27 Feb, 2023 @ 5:44am
@Jimi Wan: You should also go through your list of mods and be very picky in terms of old mods that might not be optimized. A lot of the older mods have been replaced with newer mods. The Compatibility Report mod can help you there.
Jimi Wan 27 Feb, 2023 @ 5:28am
@Keallu Hiya, thanks for your reply. I am running Loading Screen Mod and the order loading mod but not really sure if that actually helps troubleshoot why the performance is so bad.
Keallu  [author] 27 Feb, 2023 @ 4:33am
@Jimi Wan: The game is not really optimized for modern hardware so hard to get good frame rates. Have you tried Loading Screen (revisited) mod? Otherwise try asking for help on the discord channel. I'm running on old hardware so cannot really advice you too much.
Jimi Wan 27 Feb, 2023 @ 3:22am
I know this isn't about this mod but I thought there maybe someone here that can advise. I cannot seem to get over 20FPS and its a pain because the cars just look awful jumping down the road. I don't understand why though as looking at this mod, there doesn't appear to be a huge amount of my machines resources being used.

2.1% of 16 cores of an i7
7325MB physical
17703MB virtual
3MB paged
0.59 non-paged
Allocated 8439MB
reserved 8743MB
unused 302MB

I have 16GB in the machine, an RTX3060 GB and an 11th Gen i7-11800H. Is it the reserved that's stopping the game from using it? Also this is a laptop.

I have about 40 mods and around 1400 assets. No graphical mods on it apart from FPS booster and all the gfx settings set to low (for testing) and this is the result. I don't get it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is a Cities: Skylines 1.16.0-f3 update coming for this mod?
snottily 11 Dec, 2022 @ 12:28pm
hi keallu, i love your mods and use most of them, thank you very much for all the work!

i seem to have a problem with this one though, it seems it is severely under-reporting FPS
it shows ~12 fps at most. the steam overlay reports ~35fps, which i would judge to be the correct value just by watching the animations, which are smooth.

hardware: ryzen9 5900X, RTX 3080Ti, 64GB ram (and i got the same 12fps in monitor it! with a ryzen5 3600X and a GTX1660)
Plazmafield 1 Dec, 2022 @ 12:18pm
Thanks for updating it
Keallu  [author] 1 Dec, 2022 @ 6:38am
Mod is compatible with Cities Skylines 1.15.1-f4 (Roads & Vehicles).
Plazmafield 16 Sep, 2022 @ 8:54am
I think the mod's settings are not functioning correctly post DLC update. I can no longer turn off some of the displays. The mod appears to default to displaying everything which takes up a lot of room. Otherwise the mod functions, i.e. it still displays FPS and memory updates.
blipadouzi 1 Sep, 2022 @ 6:20am
Love all your mods, keep up the great work. One minor request... would it be possible to add Monitor It, Play It, Render It to UnifiedUI? I find the 3 buttons randomly at the bottom a little distrcting and sometimes in the way.
PYRO 4 Jul, 2022 @ 9:47am
@Pnevna: Most graphic cards come with such built in these days.
Neverminder 4 Jul, 2022 @ 7:28am
every single game should have something like this built in. it's crazy to me that only a few do, especially resource intensive RTS games and map builders
Keallu  [author] 1 Feb, 2022 @ 2:36pm
@TheBloke: Yes, that is the penalty. If you want to move the panel, you must have the title active :D
TheBloke 1 Feb, 2022 @ 12:07pm
I was wondering what happened to the background as well. I don't mind it being gone, although I did think the green background looked OK.

Thanks for adding the option to hide the "Monitor It" label - it's much neater without it IMHO. There's one small issue with that: the panel can only be dragged and moved when that title is visible. So if I wanted to move the panel I'd have to temporarily re-enable the title, move it, then hide the title again. Not a big deal at all though as I'm rarely likely to move it once it's positioned.

New button looks great - a big improvement!
Keallu  [author] 1 Feb, 2022 @ 11:53am
@PlayerOneTimmy: Well, I actually removed the option for having background sprite (overlay background) since I also saw them as awful looking :)
p1timmy 1 Feb, 2022 @ 11:26am
Thanks for the update, I could finally find that toggle button that's been missing ever since I started using this mod! There's another problem though, the overlay background went missing in the last couple versions, it wouldn't update no matter what background color I choose in settings. Can you fix that in a future update? If you can't reproduce that bug I can send you my settings file.
Also I think the overlay style should be consistent with your other mods, it looks way off with the rest of the game UI IMO.

@TheBloke and @Batt66man: Good! I am glad we worked it out.
Batt66man 29 Jan, 2022 @ 12:36pm
My little contribution to the cause :) @Keallu - That other issue I thought I was having must have been a missed restart or something. Everything is working as it should and pretty snappy. Appreciate the time and effort!
TheBloke 29 Jan, 2022 @ 12:12pm
Success :) https://i.imgur.com/goK1tqR.png

Thanks for finding the fix, @Batt66man, and for working on it for so long @Keallu!
Keallu  [author] 29 Jan, 2022 @ 11:46am
@TheBloke: Button should now hopefully be created properly on other systems than Windows. Thanks for helping out - also to @Batt66man.
Keallu  [author] 29 Jan, 2022 @ 11:29am
@TheBloke: Yes, it proves that the game objects are never created properly and @Batt66man have actually figured out why. Cudos to him. I will have a fix out soon.
TheBloke 29 Jan, 2022 @ 9:38am
OK sure. Firstly: I did a quick test where I set CS to windowed @ 2560 x 1440 resolution. No change, still no button.

Then I did another test with no mods installed, except Monitor It and also ModTools

First finding: when I click "Reset Positioning of Button" in options, I see in ModTools that it triggers "Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object". So that exception is relevant, sorry for saying it wasn't (I guess I never clicked the reset button when I tested with no mods before). Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/wM83rjL.png

Second finding: I think this is the ModTools info you wanted? https://i.imgur.com/8bEASpO.png

If so, it seems to show that both the button and buttonPanel are null, whereas the mainPanel, topPanel, unityMemoryPanel, etc, are all correctly assigned. This screenshot is taken with no mods installed except Monitor It and ModTools.

So I guess that the creation/assignment of the button is failing?
Keallu  [author] 29 Jan, 2022 @ 8:51am
@TheBloke: That is very weird that the button doesn't show if you edit X and Y in the config to like 100 and 100. Have you ever tried ModTools? If so, could you try to find: MonitorItButtonPanel or MonitorItButton and investigate its values?
TheBloke 29 Jan, 2022 @ 8:40am
Yeah, no exceptions in the most recently updated log, which was where I was running with Monitor It only, no other mods. The exception comes when I run Monitor with my normal full mod list. So the exception seems unrelated to the lack of button.

CS is full screen only on my 4K monitor, and is running at 3840 x 2160 resolution. Player.log shows:

Setting initial resolution to 3840 2160 True [Core]

UI Resolution mod isn't related because the problem occurs identically when it's not installed - and when no other mods are installed at all.

I've tested manually editing MonitorItConfig.xml and putting various X and Y coordinates for the button, such as 100,100; 1000,1000; 2000,2000; 3800,2000; 4000,100; etc, without any success.

The Monitor It panel always appears fine at any coordinates.
Keallu  [author] 29 Jan, 2022 @ 8:21am
@citizen.rjk: Thanks. I can't test at that resolution I think - when I set it at 3840 x 2160 it always jumps right back to 2560 x 1440 which is what I normally use. I don't know if it is something with my rather old and outdated graphic card (GTX1060). I run on a 5 years old rig unfortunately.

I will consider moving the buttons to the top of the screen but so many mods place them there. I'm also aware of UUI but I'm not keen on that integration right now and the "API" is supplies.
Keallu  [author] 29 Jan, 2022 @ 8:15am
@TheBloke: I only see one exception in your log and that is some loading of custom asset. Nothing to do with this. I'm more and more certain it is the monitor setup. Does CS run on multiple monitors or only the one in the middle I assume? It properly has a very high resolution which is identified by UIView and position is calculated high on Y-axis but somehow you run the UI in much lower resolution. Is that with in-game downscaling or with UI Resolution mod? I did a lot of test with UI Resolution and it seemed like my newest changes worked perfectly. I guess not.
Keallu  [author] 29 Jan, 2022 @ 8:11am
@TheBloke: Yes, there is a important difference between my other mods and lots of other mods - being that they position themselves at the top of the screen... That means very low Y-coordinates. If there is a problem with resolution and such then the problem properly is that the button position itself outside the viewable area. I guess that is also why most mods add everything at the top. Resolution, width and height and so on matters much less :)
citizen.rjk 29 Jan, 2022 @ 2:22am
Sorry I meant the normal Cities in-game black tab that pops up and says "drag here". That should appear and wasn't for me in the past. So no other issues other than the button not appearing. I am on the 150% setting for the UI resolution slider and my main resolution setting is actually one setting down from 4k in the main menu at present (I think its 3360 x 1890). I'm assuming the native UI is then interfering with your buttons visibility on Mac, if it seems mods aren't the actual issue. Very strange.
TheBloke 29 Jan, 2022 @ 12:05am
Msg 2/2:

Interestingly, my Player.log does not contain that object reference exception - which it was still showing earlier this morning, before I unsubbed all mods. So it seems that that exception isn't related to the lack of a button. Here's my Player.log in case it's of any help: https://gist.github.com/TheBloke/00a81184cc740571cd7148f7ca2d8feb

You mentioned monitor config - I have four monitors, with my main 4K monitor being in the middle of three others. I wouldn't have thought this could affect anything, since presumably all co-ordinates are relative to the CS window? But here's my monitor layout in case it's of interest: https://i.imgur.com/816KI8K.png

What confuses me is that all other buttons and panels from other mods appear fine - including your own Measure It, Watch It, etc. Is there something unusual about this button?

Let me know if I can provide any more info.
TheBloke 29 Jan, 2022 @ 12:05am
Msg 1/2:

OK, I can now confirm that it is definitely not a mod incompatibility. I just:
- Unsubbed all mods
- re-subbed Monitor It
- Launched game and started a new game

My Content Manager -> Mods list: https://i.imgur.com/mo81Eos.png
In-game screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/AlGLg1q.jpg

I reset the button position, and also tried toggling Show Button a few times.
Keallu  [author] 28 Jan, 2022 @ 11:15pm
@Batt66man: Well, it seems to be a problem with non-Windows version. 904 is actually an appropriate value since X and Y are counted from top left corner, so that means the button should be within screen resolution. Could you tell how you exactly setup running with one monitor resolution and different resolution? Yes, I do know how to change both monitor resolution and game resolution but wants to make certain we do exactly the same? Are you also using UI Resolution?

Z-order for the button is 25 so should not be a problem if you don't block it with other panels.
