if I remember correctly, it took me around 10-20 minutes to align it all.

Never seen that detailed server rack. I suppose aligning all these sprites was a pain in the ass.

I mean, the description is honestly quite vague and inapplicable besides telling that it's a small room.
MrGermandeutsch  [author] 23 Jul, 2019 @ 4:17am
I'm just wondering ... does anyone actually bother to read the description, by the way?
I noticed from a few comments that the main complaint seems to be the lack of content, size or literally anything else about the map.

Odd.

Alright then, honestly makes sense. Even for not being intended to look good though, plenty of work was gone into making it look honestly great, and I see because of the layout, that exit door is kinda built to go down a windowed corridor, and I love that. You're very welcome for the feedback, I do try :D
MrGermandeutsch  [author] 23 Jul, 2019 @ 2:32am
just on a sidenote, before I forgett it again: If I used the sprite's rendermode instead of all those entities, I wouldn't have uploaded this map with just one room, but actually turned it into a whole playable level <w>
MrGermandeutsch  [author] 23 Jul, 2019 @ 2:25am
I could have also just used a vscript to have the same results with less entities, sure, but I don't have any experience with scripting yet, therefore limiting my abilities to optimize the Map as of now.
BUT
I will make a second version of this map/concept, with several improvements (I really needed the feedback. I legit appretiate it!), more than just one room and hopefully a better BTS aswell.
Again, thank you for the feedback, I really do appretiate it!
MrGermandeutsch  [author] 23 Jul, 2019 @ 2:25am
Thank you for the feedback.
I was just a random Idea I had a few weeks ago. "Why not make a purposefully bad map?" and now here I am.
The Original Version actually had about 1440 Entities (I've posted a video of it here ) but I forgott to count the amount of entities in this new version of this map, but apparently both version works perfectly fine for everyone, wich is quite a suprise to me. I was expecting negative results, and not THIS.
Yes, I am aware of the render mode, and I honestly chose NOT to use it, simply because these 'render modes' actually have a certain pattern that repeat after a while and aren't as random as everyone claims to be, and I'm not a fan of such things, even if literally nobody else will never notice this.
totes amaze balls 22 Jul, 2019 @ 5:53pm
Yea, actually decompiled this, and A: there's nowhere near 1440 entities running at the same time, and B: all of those relays, timers, and cases, why are you using them? Sprites have a render mode, one of which includes random flicker, which would've given the exact same effect, with only 1 relay for each breaker switch :D. With that said, if your goal was to see how well a computer would run, I quite literally played this map with an unplugged quad core i5 notebook laptop at the time, and it played as smooth as ever. But again, to just reiterate, I would love to see more work like this, you clearly know your way around hammer (mostly) and show a great eye for design. It is still a great looking room!

toxic D:
MrGermandeutsch  [author] 21 Jul, 2019 @ 4:34pm
The Map itself was never intented to look good.
I only wanted to know if people would receive issues when turning all 4 levers on, since the amount of entities I have used are about 1440 at max, running constantly, when turned on.
totes amaze balls 21 Jul, 2019 @ 2:16pm
Then what was your goal???
MrGermandeutsch  [author] 21 Jul, 2019 @ 2:06pm
Well, everything you just pointed out was not my goal
totes amaze balls 21 Jul, 2019 @ 12:09pm
I mean, nice? It looked lovely, all except the projected texture, I didn't like how it literally just looked like a spot on the floor. But why is this just standing alone? I would love to see a full blown map with this level of design. I have to rate this down because it could've looked way better, like some mapmakers make small rooms like this to show off engine-changing cinematic lighting and whatnot, but this is just a single room.

Not really anything here
3/10 only for good efforts
