I'm just not clean enough on gear changes to be able to race more than a few laps before the engine blows on road courses (I suspect this is not a problem for Ovals, since there is a lot less gear changing, if any). I press on clutch and lift off throttle but don't have a H pattern so paddle shift up but I guess my timing is off sometimes and I shift too early.

There seems to be a lower tolerance on this mod than other Chief mods which I do not have any issues with. Wish there was a way to dial back this sensitivity setting to make it easier on bad drivers like me.

How do you play these cars on Indianapolis 2020 mod? The AI keeps crashing and clogging since lap 1. Any hint please? I love these cars
canon1753 28 Nov, 2021 @ 8:29pm
Any chance of Sanair being made for this mod?
ChiefWiggum  [author] 31 Oct, 2021 @ 2:11pm
I think the Engine will not overheat , I think your Revs are to high, you should shift earlier and lift the Throttle when you shift.
Inquisitorial Imperator 30 Oct, 2021 @ 9:16pm
Would you be able to fix this? It keeps overheating and the engine fails. Thanks :)
Inquisitorial Imperator 24 Oct, 2021 @ 11:46pm
would love to see 1993 series!
Marketcrash16 23 Aug, 2021 @ 7:56pm
Oil and water temps not displaying correctly. I keep blowing engines and the water and oil temp don't even move
nyrmetros 17 Aug, 2021 @ 8:32pm
That would be great.
peaceful brick thrower 7 Aug, 2021 @ 9:40am
Could you separate the road and indy versions so rf2 recognises both of them for every driver.
nyrmetros 20 Jul, 2021 @ 9:40pm
Any updates planned?
vonbakker 20 Jul, 2021 @ 3:22pm
Just looked over all the posts to see if anyone had same problems as me , didnt see anyone mention it . When i try to race AI , most of them retire from running out of fuel, anyone else have these issues?
gc24 15 May, 2021 @ 9:45am
These cars are hard to drive at Indy Oval? It's so bumpy, it takes the fun out of the mod. Is there a fix?
AUSTmike 12 Sep, 2020 @ 9:46pm
I was talking only about the road rear wings!...If anyone gets blown engine set your Radiator up from 1!..i set my radiator to around 5....this is good for me!
(v)1GHTY )v(4V$ 20 Aug, 2020 @ 9:34am
@AUSTmike road course and oval (Indianapolis) rear wings. They're there just as in real life to fullfill the need for different drag configurations
AUSTmike 3 Jul, 2020 @ 12:51am
hi chief!..I notice there are 2 types of rear road wings!...what are their differences and why did you add these?..cheers!
roninhoads 21 Jun, 2020 @ 11:51am
@Nissan Man love to have the setup, is it online somewhere?
Oh and ChiefWiggum, great great great mod, love it!
incoguinito 4 Jun, 2020 @ 5:13pm
Hello Chief, do you have an update planned in the coming months? The force feedback deserves some attention as there is extreme damping without detail which in turn leads to a feeling of basically reverse ffb. There is something odd between the tire/aero relationship and balance. There might be too much downforce with something incorrect or excessive in grip, which feels exaggerated. This has a lot of potential given you're covering the entire grid, thank you for your and your team's effort.
Nissan Man 18 May, 2020 @ 10:39pm
I just spent a few hours dialing in an Indy setup good for about 225 mph average. Would be happy to share it.
R.C. Collins 12 Apr, 2020 @ 1:23am
Drove these around S397 Monaco last night. Many improvements since I last tried them. Good fun. Keep dialing these in. See if you can't get some feedback from people that actually drove them.
The Mayor 13 Mar, 2020 @ 7:04pm
Does anyone have a good Indy setup?
The Dawgfather Shane Lake 10 Nov, 2019 @ 7:21pm
Hey Wigg I sent you an add request I can show you the tweet Michael had with this car..
The Dawgfather Shane Lake 10 Nov, 2019 @ 6:47pm
nah wigg Michael Andretti talked about these cars. As for short oval - https://youtu.be/iNMC-O3f_28
ChiefWiggum  [author] 10 Nov, 2019 @ 8:21am
@Shane Lake you are joking right? Michael Andretti?

what do you think we need for a short oval package?
The Dawgfather Shane Lake 7 Nov, 2019 @ 6:56pm
only thing i would recommend is a short oval package for phoenix and milwaukee. other than that this mod is beast. Even Michael Andretti likes it (talked on twitter and showed him)
Fergy1010 5 Nov, 2019 @ 3:37am
SimRacers4Life use this mod on the weekend as part of a small championship we ran. Very well received and was a lot of fun. Keep up the good work.
incoguinito 22 Oct, 2019 @ 8:59pm
Thank you for the consistent updates. This has so much potential to become one of the top pieces of content for the game. Currently the engines are very responsive without any lag, which combined with the supremely grippy tires (at certain slip, although they're quick to regain immense grip) and possibly overdone downforce and insufficient drag, makes it a super "spammy" speed machine.

I will keep following this and testing every update. I hope CART 1985 can reach its potential!
wulfftd 19 Oct, 2019 @ 11:13am
Awesome, only done ovals so far but love the mod.
Fergy1010 13 Oct, 2019 @ 1:33am
Awesome, loving this mod.
Porks RSL 5 Oct, 2019 @ 12:58pm
Set auto lift to true in your Player Json if you are having troubles blowing your engine on shifting or take the time to shift correctly
Fergy1010 3 Oct, 2019 @ 5:36am
Some great work here. Well done. Love messing with the boost to find the sweet spot.
TRS 27 Sep, 2019 @ 4:46pm
The latest update is a BIG improvement. Now they can be driven they way you seem them driven in the old videos. Very racey fun at Reiza's VIR.

@Rogger76 The sounds are good enough. They sound like a raw, noisy turbo race engine through a helmet with the wind noise around it. Better than many other mods.

Also a plus, the damage sensitivity is pretty good. Now you just need more crap flying off the car in an accident. Particularly the high speed oval stuff. How about the side pods come off? What about the engine detaching like it used to often do? It should be possible to detach the engine from the rest of the car mesh and assign it a Debris# to have it be detachable. How about the main nose cone off too so just the driver is showing after a big wreck? Like Indy 1995! 8)

This has some good potential. Hopefully the Chief keeps developing it.
Semor76 24 Sep, 2019 @ 5:32am
Very nice mod. But the Sounds are terrible and needs a lots of work!
TRS 16 Sep, 2019 @ 8:53pm
Certainly I'm not the only one. I just tried this car again at Imola 1988 (Reiza). Maximum radiator cooling, turbo boost at 4/5 babying it with full clutched shifts so slow that you are not and NEVER could be competitive and the engine is smoking and going up in flames in 1/2 a lap. Every car does it.

AI are cars are pinning the rev limiter everywhere on track and not one problem.

Something is not right with this. Maybe the races you watched were all people with paddle shift/auto shift and auto clutch, which sadly is common online, but driving this fully manual and being competitive is not possible and not realistic.

On another note, I'm quite sure these cars had onboard roll bar adjustment front and rear.
FlyMan 13 Sep, 2019 @ 5:11pm
Thanks for the mod. I think is awesome and if you take care of the engine, it won't blow. this is old style car, need to look for rpm, oil temp, water temp etc. You lost time making a mod free for the comunity so i can only thank you for it. And what a mod!!!
Olgierd 8 Sep, 2019 @ 3:26am
Great work ChiefWiggum. Only the sound is far away from the original and should be developed further.
Porks RSL 6 Sep, 2019 @ 12:57pm
One of the best historic mods there is in rF2, up there with GP1979 from rF1
Kelju 27 Aug, 2019 @ 11:28am
My review of the mod: (personal opinion!)
It feels quite good :steamhappy: Only thing that feels a bit off at first try is the steering sensitivity. It takes very (too?) little steering input to make the car start turning. Tough that was correctable with toe setting somewhat at least. (And yes, i had the 720 degrees set by vehicle)
Secondly about the engine damage everybody is ranting about: I was able to keep the engine working just fine when always lifting 100% on upshifts and not rushing it :steammocking:
I LOVE the idea behind it!!!
But maybe allow just a tad bit quicker upshifts? i felt like i had to slow down bit too much to keep natural flow in my driving?
Good mod overall, keep it up and thanks for your hard work!
akramura5 27 Aug, 2019 @ 4:16am
the creator of the model imagines having created the best car, yet a lot of problem remains unanswered, so let him in his dreams.lol.
clomayFR 27 Aug, 2019 @ 12:29am
thank you, very good mod, a real pleasure to drive
gerold.u 21 Aug, 2019 @ 10:35am
Nice but after two laps the engine just blew
Cletus Nifler 20 Aug, 2019 @ 5:30pm
such an amazing mod please more
ChiefWiggum  [author] 18 Aug, 2019 @ 1:57am
yeaterday I watched a race in liveracer, there was 12 drivers I think, 3 had a dnf, don't know why, but the other's drove the 60 minutes Race, how is this possible?
akramura5 18 Aug, 2019 @ 1:45am
the turbo does not take two laps as it has been said, with a minimum pressure, there is a permanent freezing without control limit, the simulation of a turbo of this time is extremely complicated, I am not an expert by your work you learn.
ChiefWiggum  [author] 18 Aug, 2019 @ 12:56am
@akramura, looks like you are an expert, that's nice, so what must we edit? can you say me what is wrong and please give me the correct parameters that I can edit it
akramura5 18 Aug, 2019 @ 12:35am
Total respect for the work provided, but the mechanical side is to be totally revised.
TRS 17 Aug, 2019 @ 6:28pm
Fun but as someone else here already posted, blowing engines very easy. Short shifting, not over revving, gave the car plenty of radiator in the setup and in a 2-4 laps, poof. Engine starts to smoke then inevitably dies.
Andy Vela 15 Aug, 2019 @ 3:41pm
Cars breaking engine very Easy, , best this aspect...
AUSTmike 15 Aug, 2019 @ 8:45am
Chief!..doesn't look like cart86 had backfire!...after checking out some video races on youtube!.i guess with the backfire of the f1-86 mod you recently did I got a little excited!....hehe! which adds a great immersion to the mod but after all its realism that counts!...thanks for cart86 it is already a great mod!!!
ChiefWiggum  [author] 12 Aug, 2019 @ 11:16am
hello AUSTmike, I think the Cars don't had a Backfire, but I'm not sure, if you can send me a Pic or a Video I will add it
AUSTmike 10 Aug, 2019 @ 10:11pm
would it be possible to add the backfire feature like you did in f1-86 mod!...also i can't seem to get the talent file to work as there is 2 classes in the mod!...cheers!
