Windmills give +2 production and can only be built in flatlands, so this mod should also make them available to hill cities to balance things

Interesting idea

It's working. Are you using BNW or GK? After you have placed your city on a flatland, open the city window and there should be a free building that provides +1 food.

The mod doesn't seem to work. Could anyone help me?
TheGreatWars 12 Dec, 2015 @ 10:32am
and its next to a river lol
TheGreatWars 12 Dec, 2015 @ 10:31am
It doesnt seem to work anymore i settled in the plains and i still only get 2 food in that city.
Jarms 19 Aug, 2015 @ 2:42am
Personally, I think with this you should also change windmills to buildable in all cities.
Sovereign 21 Mar, 2014 @ 12:32pm
It worked! Thanks :)

You could try subscribing to the mod while civ5 is running.

If that doesn't work, is your operating system a Mac? The mod should work for Macs, there are just a few steps that are automatic for non-Mac users that Mac users have to do by hand.

If you're still having issues I can put the mod on CivFanatics so it can be downloaded there. Let me know if you're still having issues and I'll do that.

This wont show up anywhere when i subscribe? O.o
BINARYGOD 8 Feb, 2014 @ 10:54am
Ahhh ok, gotcha. Over 1000 hours of this game and shit STILL slips my mind! =-)

Binarygod, the mod just adds the building that provides +1 food. That +1 food building should not show up on the tile display. As you noted, the city tiles produce at least 2 food, so if you settled on a plains tile (normally 1 food and 1 hammer) the city tile would produce 2 food from the tile and 1 food from the "flatland building" for a total of 3 food (ignoring where the first citizen was working).
BINARYGOD 7 Feb, 2014 @ 11:44pm
This actually seems to add +2 food when I use it: It makes the plot the city founded on get +1 food, but then there is a "Flatland City" building also giving +1 - and it shows in the food totals. HOWEVER - maybe I am wrong and forgot that the starting Palace also gives +1 food?

I will never understand why people complain about mods other people make. If you dont like it, dont use it, but for the love of god there is no need to complain.

People have different preferences and like different things, live it and accept it. Its just insane going around complaining about things other people like or do that we dont agree with.

To those who complain about windmill.
1. The +1 production early game is more crucial than mid-late game.
2. By the time you get to Economics, how many extra hammers have you accrued from the hill?
3. How many hammers do you need to actually build the windmill?
4. Does the +10% production towards buildings really matter when your economy is probably strong enough for rush buys.

That being said, I'd rather remove the hammer from hills than add food to plains. Cities shouldn't be built on hills anyway.

You do realize that hills disable the construction of windmills, which means that flatland citys after midgame get 2 prod and +10 prod (and some engineer slots) more then hill cities?
Adam_Through_The_LookingGlass 1 Nov, 2013 @ 1:40pm
Nice mod
Jack_79 8 Oct, 2013 @ 5:23am

CookieMagic 4 Oct, 2013 @ 7:22pm
overpowered mod
Entero 4 Oct, 2013 @ 1:43pm
nice mod recommend it to everyone
Alric Thomas 4 Oct, 2013 @ 12:52pm
Makes the game a lot easier. Maybe to easy.
Manonmoon 3 Oct, 2013 @ 1:34pm
relly good :)
Meogron 3 Oct, 2013 @ 11:19am
Dont forget that cities which have been built on hill cant build windmill which gives eventually more production than +1.
Mk Z 3 Oct, 2013 @ 8:42am
maybe +.5 food would be more balanced?
Cipher 2 Oct, 2013 @ 5:27pm
HiddenSquire basically has my point.
MAXPOWER 2 Oct, 2013 @ 9:22am
Good improve; this mod made a more realistic game
HiddenSquire 1 Oct, 2013 @ 7:35pm
A bit overpowered. Food is more valuable than production since it soon translates into more citizens that in turn provide more and more production and as well as everything else. There is already compensation for flatland cities in that they can build Windmills, which provide +2 production and a 10% production bonus to buildings, while hill cities cannot build this.
iPetPuppyGirls 1 Oct, 2013 @ 3:48pm
Good idea.
This_Juan 1 Oct, 2013 @ 12:11pm
@[SL]2.tör.Blit : I think it's to compensate. Some people still grow food on their own property, however miniscule adds up. Like extra production on hills, might attract more mining or milling in town.
BlitzMartinDK 1 Oct, 2013 @ 8:45am
why not just mod everything to give you more of anything?
I do not understand why you would need it? Or why you would get more food out of building a city on prime harvesting land? More city, less wheat!
Princess Leia 1 Oct, 2013 @ 4:59am
Dude Great Job! Love it!
Dotestrieb 1 Oct, 2013 @ 1:43am
I build my cities on the mountain...
Chronoreaper 30 Sep, 2013 @ 11:17pm
nice job man gives flat terrain something more when theres no hills around
yale3d 29 Sep, 2013 @ 8:29pm
Not bad, but imho, Windmill balances things. The bonus you gain from Windmill is way more than a compensation, on the long run.
SSstar 29 Sep, 2013 @ 6:22pm
This isn't about history, this is to try to balance the effects of settling on flatlands vs hills.
Björk Guðmundsdóttir 29 Sep, 2013 @ 8:16am
This is not a fun thing. Historically hills have always been better settling points.
Askooin 29 Sep, 2013 @ 4:46am
Awesome
j.jamo5 29 Sep, 2013 @ 4:41am
Why thankyou my good man :D great idea
Wehraboo Furf.ag 28 Sep, 2013 @ 10:30pm
This is a great idea. Without this mod I only wanted my cities on hills.
glenparker20 28 Sep, 2013 @ 6:46am
This is brilliant
Thorpen Alnyr 27 Sep, 2013 @ 7:42pm
Finnaly somthing, that benifits my flat citys that i always produce!
Jin 27 Sep, 2013 @ 1:59am
