@Pumpkin Pie, it's more about preference really. Some like it, some don't. This just makes it easier for those who don't like it to remove it from their game.

i really dont get all the hate for The Rizzo, genuinely one of my favorite voice packs because of how uniquely funny it is.

Devs were truly ahead of their time with this voice pack. I really like it as a joke but it gets kinda annoying lmao

I kinda wish they made it so randomly generated soldiers can't roll the Rizzo voice pack, can only be manually selected. As much as I like it, it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Why does everybody act like you can't just remove the voice from the soldier?

The Rizzo is the audio equivalent of pissing on someone and calling it a prank. Sure, some people really love piss. Most of us don't and making it randomly show up on soldiers isn't funny; it's obnoxious.

I don't at all mind that they included this. I do mind that there's no in-game way to disable it or at *least* prevent it from randomly spawning on recruits. Thank you so much!

I believe the lines used in the voice were originally placeholder lines, before they had the actual xcom soldier voices. That's why they are the way they are, so that its impossible to forget to change the line to the real version. Kinda like those games where you'll see some severely out-of-place billboards or something similar, a placeholder texture that slipped through. Personally, I love the voice but I can understand why you would want to remove it.

Heard this..... thing..... for the first time just now. Soldier generated for a resistance op had it. Almost sent the guy to die just to be rid of this abomination of a voice. I should have subscribed to this mod long ago.

I reloaded the game for the first time in awhile last night. As soon as the first mission began? I hear this deadpan "line reading" of one of my characters' voices..
I made it a point to decide whether I could "live with it" or not. & by the time the mission was over? I clicked past every "commander to the..." call & went to the character customization to see what in the flying monkey lovers of hades that voice was set to.
Seeing it..I decided "You're old. It's someone I'm sure the kids just love."
But I removed it from the character anyhow.
NOW? ..Thanks to your mod, not only do I now-know the origin of this travesty of wasted digital media; I have a final fix as well.

Funny story: as I was starting up a new campaign recently, I was idly considering looking up a mod to disable the obnoxious "Rizzo" voice, but decided it could wait until I reached a decent stopping point.

Literally the first thing I heard in the first mission was Rizzo saying, "Going Ghost."

I immediately quit to desktop and hunted down this mod, and then deleted that save just for good measure. (it was probably a cursed run anyway)

It wouldnt be so bad if this one didnt CONSTANTLY show up. I had two random rookies show up and BOTH of them had it and that was AFTER removing it from another soldier.

I had NO idea where this came from. I had started running mods by the time I first noticed it, and thought it was some mod designer's joke.

Now I can play with sound again, and NOT have to constantly edit soldier preferences.

Late post but...

It's not a text to speech voice but rather an actual recording, that's why it was included into the TLP dlc because the Dec's found the temporary voice lines Roland Rizzo recorded to be funny.

It's insulting that they left it in. Well done. I've taken the habit of making android out of soldiers that get auto assigned the Rizzo voice.
