Your GitHub link seems to be outdated, so I can't post this there. I'm hoping you might have time for a feature request. Configuration for Opacity (light absorption levels for Mesh, Airflow, Glass, Pneumatic Doors, and Liquids... maybe for different Gases too?). Your mod is by far the best lighting overhaul I've come across, and these additional configs would make it even better. Thanks for the awesome work, @Vincent!

There's no mods that add additional light types. LED lights, halogen lights, xenon lights, whatever.. I think it would be cool if someone's mod took it's place

Currently I have observed light cones from ceiling lights consisting of 1 square total. Disabling this mod caused light cones to return to normal sizes. Can anyone confirm whether this mod is working correctly or not?

Currently playing with Lights Expanded, Smoother Lights, and Darkness Not Excluded.

@教皇 没有哦,只是对范围进行了调整,使得边缘更圆滑了,没有改动其它部分,其实吧,性能这块问题没什么办法的,越到后期需要计算的资源就越多,这个计算量对CPU算力的需求不会凭空消失呀,也不可能随便偷懒省略(虽然估计已经有一定程度的简化了)否则肯定会出BUG,类似的游戏都有这个共同问题吧,也不怪克雷。或者解决方案是用GPU的超高算力来代替CPU做部分计算?:woodleface:

It's not as weird really. Light can 'only' travel in straight lines while fluid and gas particles can squeeze through and maneuver around solid obstacles.

Just tested that it still works, only if you open it at the mod's option page by checking the box of 'Light Through Mesh Tiles'

this mod no longer allows light through airflow tiles at least. please fix that. it's a little silly that gas particles can travel through it but not light at all...

Crashing on startup with this new update. Sorry I don't have any more info, but after futzing with it for about an hour all I can say is that it's doing it even with it being the only mod loaded.

@ParallaxMurderer Gladly someone share the same opinion with me about the shape of the ceiling light, currently the so called 'Cone' shape should be a spotlight thing, not a ceiling light bulb like this. I'll make the add a configuration to make it a half circle later when I got time.

Yea I would much rather the ceiling light project in a half circle, even if the overall range was reduced. With the strict cone shape there is no way to avoid ugly dark spots along the ceiling without placing a lamp in almost every other tile.

Anyway, i love this mod. it is extremely useful especially so with the new darkness mods that were recently published. I'm happy they work so well together.

When I look at that ceiling light, I think it should be providing light in a horizontal direction, too. I don't understand why it only lights downwards. Any chance you could correct it to work the way it looks like it should? Or maybe replace it's image with a shaded lamp (ASCII art /_\ perhaps?) so that the only-downward light makes sense.

Thank you guys for supporting! I've seen enough people like them with that kind of words, to know that they don't actually know what words can do, and to know that ignoring them is the best answer.
I've just added an option to control light to pass through Mesh Tile/Airflow Tile or not, which was asked for by someone before. And I'm still working on the algorithm to deal with the cell corner blocked light.

Absolute mad lad is the real hater because he is hating Eagle of Fire. Eagle didn't personally attack anyone, and is therefore totally fine. Changing the lighting configs to your liking is always an option.

I call you hater because you sounded agressive in your comment. If you just stated what you think is wrong with this mod without that aggresive tone, you would be just a critic. And that would not be a bad thing. It's good to see what other people have to say about the things you make, be it good or bad.

Also maybe it is a buff, but that doesn't mean it's bad. In my opinion, this is how the lighting in the game should be. I think it's just ridiculous how sometimes a plant that is so close to a ceiling light is not growing because of lack of illumination. This mod solves that.

Judging from the screenshot, all you did was up the range of the light slightly. Which is nothing more than a buff. Even worse, the standing light coverage to the bottom is WAY worse on the "new" screenshot? I mean, seriously?

@jakkdl Actually, the wider cover with the ceiling light, is an unintentionally flaw. Because I'm kind of using a crude way to implement the cone shape currently. But I got a new idea about how to represent the obstacles with simpler vectors than sectors, that would save my situation.

Heya, this is really cool!

The circular lights look much better, kudos.

Widening the angle of ceiling light is a pretty significant buff. The sprite maybe suggests it should be a 120 or 180 degree light fixture, but making it more than 90 makes it much easier to cover a room. In a 4-tile high room one light could previously cover 7 tiles, now it covers *15* - which is a *huge* buff. (a 3-tile high room goes from 5 to 13, almost 3x) The circular light also covers more tiles, but has a much smaller game impact.

ONI's lightning system is incredibly crude, and really unrealistic, and with mods such as this one and darkness (which might be republished by another person soon(tm)) it's flaws start to show. If you're interested I spent several hours yesterday refreshing my physics on how light works, and how one could reimplement this in ONI with positive effects on gameplay, so feel free to DM me on the ONI discord or we could chat about it in the steam chat.

Okay, I get your point, passing mesh tiles do mess with the air control, maybe I'll provide it configurable.

There used to be a mod named Darkness that could do what you're saying, yet the author abandoned this game and deleted it along with many things/docs he made, being annoyed by some non-friendly rookies. Pity for that, I've seen the relative codes while I was make this mod, I might make a new Darkness mod someday when i get the time. XD

No! Don't make the light pass through airflow tiles please! I love the idea of this mod and I'm gonna give it a try, and that edit will ruin it for me cause I use the airflow tiles a lot and sometimes there's a light next to a room that has one of those tiles and if the light could go through it, they wounldn't be able to sleep lol
