I'm unable to keep updating my Rimworld mods, so unfortunately someone else will have to take over. I don't think I even need to give permission here since it's not my mod (though I guess I added some features)

Playing the permanent darkness scenario and I have it set to unsafe, but all the shades evaporate at dawn and don't come back til dusk? Playing 1.4

I remember when I first encountered this event years and years ago. I don't think I realized it was installed, so it was quite the surprise and a harrowing event. Love it to bits.

It's been awhile since I modded, I'll check if I can solve the brightness issue (but no guarantees since I am super busy for several months)

Just found this mod and it goes *really* well with this. For example playing with permanent darkness but setting daytime to being safe*, so letting your pawns out during the day and bringing them in at night.

*is daytime meant to be darker when you've set it to safe? It kinda hurts my eyes.

Thank you for the quick answer. Yep, I did some tests too and the event worked flawlessly, but I'm usually suspicious about any startup errors so I thought I'd better ask if that error is harmless or fixable.

Yeah I tested that the event works in-game without an issue, but haven't been able to figure out why that error occurs at the start.

Apparently no one picked up this mod for six month, and I finally have time to play Rimworld again so made basic fixes to remove the crash. Haven't 100% playtested yet but seem to work on 1.4 from my brief testing.

@fish_heads: Just FYI, the "@" doesn't do anything on Steam. Mlie has a discord for mod update requests linked on their mods though, so you might have better luck trying there.

Yeah I really hope someone does pick this mod up, Steam workshop convenience is hard to beat. I would really like to keep supporting this mod but I no longer have time to maintain most of my Rimworld mods.

No, not updated for 1.4 and not functional at all. I admit I don't have time to mod much at the moment, so I definitely wouldn't mind if anyone is willing to adopt this mod for future updates.

Don't the creatures attack torches to destroy them? ive had torches outside during a dark night and they were fine. i remember seeing black round things trying to attack my pawns but they instantly die due to the light, I would of noticed them at some point.

I even sent my pawn out to mine when i figured it was darkest night because it was really annoyingly dark but nothing happened. Would you happen to have an idea at what mods could be incompatible with this? (preventing the monsters from showing up) doesn't have to be exact maybe just a rough guess.

Update: yeah theirs definitely NO MONSTERS, its been a year in game and I've never seen hide nor hair of any monsters.

Erm, i, don't think this mod works, as intended. i mean the Darkness comes, but theres no monsters. i see at the corner the Darkness has left er whatever, but there was no monsters. i even looked around and i didn't see anything but animals. :/

Fantastic! Thank you. I had taken to using the 'Doors dont block light' mod but that gives a large performance hit, though it also looked really cool when the doors opened. Your tweaking this gives me back those TPS that it took. Thanks again !

Is there a way to make the doorway spaces not spawnable ? I have two very lit rooms but the game sets the space that the door occupies as '0 light' and when the doors open, or maybe just at random these things spawn in the doorway when I dont think they should be.

Fixed faulty coding by wrong if else condition

New update: fixed the issue where other conditions that affect lighting (such as Aurora and Toxic spewer) caused the map to brighten during permanent darkness. This fix is extremely heavy-handed so therefore does not apply to normal 'Darkest Night' event.

New update: can now decide whether Darkness attacks downed units on mod settings & removed bug where some Darkness do not disappear when sunlight setting is enabled.

The fact that the only safe place is the light this gets me off of my lazy ass and set lights up inside the base and yes i never did and on the first night i F%^* died Plus i thought the monsters were easy to kill good side is i can use the monsters to kill the raiders at night

Implemented. Added mod option to make Darkness appear every time the sun is down. The transition from daytime to night is bit sudden, but this is best I could do after investing hours of Sunday free time.
