i would also suggest you set the keyvalues of all the entities to not allow physgun unless they need to have it enabled. there are quite a few times i accidentally discovered a secret passage or broke something because i moved it with the phys gun without intending to. great map though, really enjoyed it. :)

Anyway, upon my first playthrough of the map, I have to say, I actually rather enjoyed it.
Have you considered making this a full-fledged game, specifically a fan-made spiritual successor to Myst?
Well, if you want I can give some handy hints on how you could fix some of your puzzles but I won't impede if you're happy with how it turned out. It's still a nice map after all. :)
Heck I'm barely half-way done with my first map and dunno if I can have all the puzzles and nice things I want for it.
@Mystic Monkey, again, I have tried to give the player as much freedom as possible, but that leads to mistakes with the books and stuff. The maze only seems to break if it is rapidly pressed, something I cannot fix. I'll look into stuff falling into the acid trigger, but nothing spawns near there so I'm not sure how stuff has been falling down there. It plays like Myst - slow and steady, a puzzle game.
I see, it's just I used two books as valve pieces to open the grate and figured "maybe they're not books but just how the puzzles are suppose to look creatively?"
If the key I got in the vent couldn't be used as a book as well as the valve piece I used as a key to the chest I would not of progressed. It was sheer chance I found the actual other half of the puzzle.
The apples and bananas can fall down the stairs. They dissolve in the acid's trigger area and can break the puzzle.
The spinning maze doesn't align properly after various rotations, I could not pass it.
I pressed all the hidden buttons, the book never showed up.
Sorry but the map is already pretty broken here and there.
It is still a creative map. All it really requires is the right naming for triggers and addressed outputs here and there and you'd have a polished map. I bet you could even use actual props for your puzzles than physical blends.
take this
-Although you give the player a good hint for one of the buttons, the 4th is pretty hard to stumble upon. I didn't until I read the spoiler.
-There's a bit of a gap in the geometry of the upper most room.
-I don't quite get the "do not use flash-light," spray or its impact on the puzzle.
Aside from these, its fine. I'd like to see another Myst-like map.
it's pretty good
My only complaint is that it's too easy to get stuck, both literally (lots of nooks and crannies you can enter but can't leave, esp. in the water beneath and behind the tower) and figuratively (I would never have solved it without your spoilers)
In the monkey tree floor, you can easily skip the plank bridge puzzle by simply jumping past the hole.
Also, the rotating maze thing is VERY easy to break. I accidentally broke it twice and twice had to restart the map :(
