What is the likely hood of the Ship bugging out and destroying itself upon Landing with the Fixed Landing Gear?

Thanks to @山楂树 's information, this ship's only hatch is proved disabled due to changes on fairing logic in KSP 1.8. That lander can is now "enclosed" inside the fairing.

This means Kerbals in pressurized cabin won't be able to go EVA anymore.

At the moment I have no good solution without significant change of design. For surface operations, have some Kerbals sit on the command chairs before departure.

@stellar 在游戏设置里有个“高级调节选项”啥的,启用之后就会出现一些隐藏选项,比如决定整流罩是否由分级控制

@山楂树 感谢指出!测试了几次确实如此,似乎是KSP 1.8修改了整流罩的遮挡判定,那个着陆舱算是被整流罩包住了。挺棘手,只能在起飞之前把打算下地活动的小绿人安排在座椅上,舱内的小绿人没法出舱了,除非大改货舱里的设计

已知问题 #1:Mk1 着陆舱的舱门在每次乘员出入之后都会变得不可用(“被堵塞”)。切到其他载具/小绿人/追踪站再切回来就能解决此问题,但每次都要重复。因此,建议把经常要 EVA 的乘员安排在指令座椅上,避免使用舱门。 用了你的方法可是还是被堵赛怎么办?

Thanks man! I agree with your opinion: the Johnny looks wild and even somehow improvised (which is true, as it was kind of a quick proof of concept XD), while the Johnny II is a careful redesign with simplification / streamlining in mind. Wish we can keep doing great stuff in KSP!

-@musicmandan13, if you see the 3rd picture or the first line of the descriptions, it should be clear that this ship doesn't lift off the landing pad on itself...I've provided the version with boosters.

- It is retro AND it is stylish!
- 100% stock means no mod and no DLC.
- The size is actually determined by the Mk3 cargo bay, so it would be difficult to make bigger. I think the only way to shorten burn time while keeping enough dV for interplanetary travel would be adding more nuclear engines, you can have a try.
Btw, I use MechJeb to plan optimal transfer to Duna with a burn time of 10min (~1100m/s dV), I find it acceptable and normal. 15min burn could have taken it to Jool. I usually leave my desk and take a break while it burns.
- Yeah the concept is similar with BFS. I also tried using 3 tail fins and a pair of frontal aero surfaces like the BFS, but I still prefer this retro style. Wish you enjoy!

- The visual mod here is not AVP but mainly EVE, the two are somehow similar anyway. I have a mod list on my profile page if you're interested.

- HLSA300, I'm afraid this is not that kind of go-everywhere-and-go-home ship you're looking for, and it won't be one without significant change of design. That would be a very different thing. The current design is based on those 1950s slick rocket ships with apparently no reentry in mind.

As for the nuclear engines, I don't have any better idea for interplanetary travel. You can simply change them if you have other ideas. Maybe interplanetary travel ITSELF is just not that fun...

I did not like it, it has a very good ship design, yet very useful but because the nuclear engines are slow and you spend 15 minutes burning, it is boring
If you could change the nuclear engines for something faster, I change my assessment

If you use it on Mun or Minmus, it's totally capable of flying between the surface and LKO forever.

If you use it on farther locations, it may be possible to return, but after that it won't have enough fuel to go anywhere else and requires orbital refueling, so it may not be a good idea considering time, effort and cost. It's better to have it standby around the destination for future use, just launch simple interplanetary spaceplanes or spaceships to return the crew and science.

If you mean reenter Kerbin atmosphere and land...I don't know, it's not designed to do so, but you can have a try XD
