UPDATE: L Class is now available in British Rail black, while the L2 is now available in British Rail green. Picture included above.

I also changed the start dates of the liveries to reflect the regrouping and nationalisation - (originally I had the start dates for all liveries at the same time to group the engines together in the depot menu, but it wound up making less sense than I'd have liked) so if you're having trouble locating them you might need to scroll down your depot menus a bit.

@SuperTrain60: Whoops, sorry about that! I actually discovered that problem last night and updated it on the local version, but forgot to update it on Steam. >.> I've just updated it now.

Hi. I have a problem while loading one of my saves. Here's the error:
File: vehicle/train/LBSCR_L2_2.mdl
railVehicle/configs/axles: mesh 'vehicle/train/LBSCR_J/lod_0_w1.msh' does not exist.

UPDATE: Minor mesh and texture fixes and an updated normal map. Also added alternate Southern Railway liveries (picture added above) with corresponding placeable assets.

These two steam locos have quickly become favorites. The 'L' (two, tail-to-tail) replaces a faster steam loco on one of my passenger lines. Taking your cue that the 'L2' hauled freight (as well as passengers) in its latter days, I currently use it on several freight lines. Look forward to your upcoming N15X.

looking forward to BR liveries

Just jumping off of what Norfolk_Chris said, but essentially I decided to make the L2 engine partially because I used my K class 2-6-0 as a starting point for the model, partially because I just liked the idea of doing a larger tender engine and liked the look of these, and partially because doing so created a mesh that was sort of midway between the L and the N15X, allowing me to do both.

So I've finished the L, obviously, but the N15X is my next planned engine, though there's a bit more fiddling around with that meshwise since there's a few more changes beyond just the smoke deflectors. It's also significantly different enough that I'm going to release it on its own, which is why it's not included in this.

Still, since the underlying textures are fairly similar, nce the N15X mesh is done I'll try and look at a Southern livery for the L and L2, so maybe I'll do BR liveries as well just for the hell of it since I've already started down the fictional rabbithole anyway.

The L2 4-6-4T Baltic tanks were built to haul passenger trains on Brighton main line. They were made redundant in 1933 when the Southern Railway electrified the Brighton line. The Southern Railway then rebuilt the locos at Eastleigh works in 1935 as N15X 4-6-0 tender engines that were then deployed on the former LSWR main line. All were all scrapped by BR between 1955-1957.
The N15X rebuilds were similar to Billington's original concept 4-6-0's except they were paired with LSWR type eight wheel tenders and were fitted with smoke deflectors.

I've always liked this type of tank engine for some odd reason. After someone made one for MSTS back in the day, I just kinda fell in love with them.

Question, did the class reach BR black days, or BR green, and if so, could you be persuaded to make a skin of them in such, if it doesn't already exist that is.

@Wakka Wakka: Thanks for letting me know! I've just updated the mod, it should be fixed now. Let me know. :)

These look wonderful. However, I get a crash when trying to use the tender version. The error message is "File: vehicle/train /LBSCR_L2.mdl
railvehicle/config/axles mesh: "Vehicle/waggon/compartment_car/Lod_0_w1.msh does not exist"

I didnt see any prerequisite downloads for this mod, so is this an error within the mod itself?
The tank version seems to work fine so far though and the placeable asset of the tender version doesnt give me any problems either.

So, I've been having a problem with this mod. It seems that whenever I put it into my save the game goes onto the loading screen but crashes. Just wondering if I could get some help with this.

love all your mods mate. Well done.

Not bad for "having a crack at something because I haven't released anything for a while"...
I should try that more often :P

In the game there is a lack of SR Locomotives, as the LB&SBC became apart of SR i think it would be a good addition to see the likes the Bulleid Q1, Merchant Navy class (rebult would be a bonus on that one), West Coast/Battle of Britain class, the prototype Leader class and hell even the USA's could be done. But these are all ideas you could do

Billington sure did enjoy those sloped fronts didn't he? Great work!
