This was a great mod. Any chance you'll update?

Would it be possible to give this to heirs without console commands?

This doesn't work with Lithoids

It *might* be possible by making elections change mandates but not the ruler... but elections might be hardcoded; can't seem to find any files that affect elections unfortunately.

Ah oh well thanks for the reply. Would something like i mentioned even be possible to mod? More for RP purposes where the AI will still have elections and factions, put the portrait is automatically redirected to an immortal "ruler" you set in the empire creation.

It doesn't work well with democratic empires, unfortunately. The initial ruler won't die as long as they keep winning elections, but if they ever lose one they seem to disappear from the pool of candidates likely due to coding. Tangentially, a democratic empire's leader on the diplo screen changes if they elect a new one so that becomes a moot point.

I've seen zero issues with dictatorial/imperial governments either as player or AI behavior.

Hope that helps!

Will this still work on empires with democratic/non-autocrat governments (ie governments with regular elections)?

Mostly interested in this mod not for my own empire, but for custom empires to play against, making it more like Civ where you interact with the same rulers for the whole game.

So far, all my friends who had your old mod before you updated it had to manually delete it in the mod folder in order to be able to use it again for some reason, so mine was not just an isolated case. I am not sure why this is happening, but I thought I would let you know!

I'm glad you were able to sort everything out. Thanks for subscribing!

So, after reinstalling Steam and Stellaris, all my mods were broken. Unsubscribing and resubscribing did not help, but going to My Documents > Paradox Interactive > Stellaris and deleting the "mod" folder there fixed the issue - all mods are now working as intended, and so is yours.

My guess is that the initial problem was that your mod did not overwrite everything it was supposed to overwrite in order to work with the update, even though I unsubscribed and resubscribed in an attempt to make it work even before uninstalling Steam.

In any case, thank you for making this mod in the first place!

Yes, I checked multiple times. I am currently reinstalling the game (due to an unrelated problem), I will let you know as soon as I can test it from scratch.

I had changed nothing about the other mods I was using, the only changes since the last time I had played were the 2.5.1 Stellaris update and your mod update.

I just checked it on my end using the Steam file and it works fine for me. Just to make sure, are you sure the mod is actually activated on the launcher?

Looks like the mod is broken. It always worked for me until now - my leader randomly died today which was what caused me to notice that the Immortal Ruler trait is gone. It's not available in the list when creating a new species, either - downgrading to 2.5 did not fix the issue.
