smod stands for "Super-Mod", and was made by a japanese/chinese gentleman way back in.. 2006 maybe? hell if i remember.

It's basically a mod that added a bunch of shit to half-life 2, varying from above 20 different guns, tonnes of new NPCs, the ability to kick, bullet time, and much, MUCH more.

it's as if someone took Half-life 2 and attached a tonne of LSD to it, and it's just all good trips.
