I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

How about doing the later variants of both A3 & A4 in BR lined green livery with BR logos? Many people would appreciate this.

@tomtalk24: Yeah, I went back and forth on removing the name plaque, but it was like....4am when I updated the A4 model to the current form before I realized. You're right in that I should go back and remove it for consistancy, since I did that with the A1/A3.
CunkFeatures 20 Oct, 2019 @ 4:19pm
You kept the name and plaque on the A4. Looks odd on the Silver Link and Silver Fox.

Nice work though.

did he inspire you then?

oh wait i remember, he inspired you from the 4-4-0 mod
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 18 Oct, 2019 @ 6:03pm
@power man: Yeah, he did. I use it all the time!
power man 18 Oct, 2019 @ 10:22am
didn't stevem4 already modify the A4 with streamlining?

great mod though

UPDATE: Minor mesh changes and fixes. Slight alterations to the gloss textures to diffuse the shine a little, as well as better/more consistant aging. I've also added a new version of the A4 that has the original wheel-coverings. Images of all the included vehicles are now added above as well.
Snowpiercer 17 Oct, 2019 @ 12:27am
Did you use a 3d model to make the mod?
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 16 Oct, 2019 @ 4:25pm
@Captainamtrak456: I'll do some research and look into it. Shouldn't be too hard. :)
Captainamtrak456 16 Oct, 2019 @ 1:44pm
Well, its been 50 years since Flying Scotsman began her North American Tour, how about make a USA Tour Variant of Flying Scotsman for history sake? This would please not only me, but also other Transport Fever enthusiasts.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 16 Oct, 2019 @ 9:42am
UPDATE: Made some minor changes to the corridor tender mesh and canteen since the vanilla model wasn't as tall as it should be.

I've added an image above showing a side-by-side comparison of the vanilla models vs the updated versions to show the difference, since it's not as noticable without the side-by-side reference.
Damocles 16 Oct, 2019 @ 6:56am
Any chance of some A4 images?
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 15 Oct, 2019 @ 8:35pm
Also please note that the vanilla A4's animations are broken by default. It is highly, highly recommended that you use killakanz's 'LNER A4 Fixed animations mod' in conjunction with this file, which is why I've listed it as required.

UPDATE: I've added two versions of the Class A4 Pacific into this mod that use the A3's tender mesh, and have given it a bunch of material file and model file tweaks. I've also included a similarly coloured version of the canteen tender as well (because why the hell not, right?) and a version with a record-making top speed.

absolutely gorgeous models Gr1m top job

I wonder if they will use the same coding, but rewrite it for the updated engine. Least so the process is the same as with TPF
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 14 Oct, 2019 @ 9:24pm
@tG-APasz: Yeah, it's a weird habit I've gotten into but I like messing around with them. Like I said in the description, ' Basically it just adds weight to the train for no benefit buuuuuuuuuuuut on the other hand it looks cool, so.'

And that's pretty much my attitude towards modding at the moment. Just having a bit of fun with smaller or sillier ideas rather than dedicating to a major project like something completely all-new.

I'll save the chesapeake and ohio m-1 for TpF2. >.>
APasz 14 Oct, 2019 @ 8:52pm
I'm quite liking the inclusion of the water tank lately.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 14 Oct, 2019 @ 8:14pm
@Irish SwaggerTeller: Don't worry, unless UG somehow screw me over by somehow completely changing the way mods are handled, I'll try and port as many of my mods as I can over to TpF2.

This mod might be a bit trickier since it uses vanilla assets and I don't know if they've updated their A3 model and mesh for TpF2, but I'll try and recreate it if that's the case.
FATHER TOBUS 14 Oct, 2019 @ 4:57pm
Gr1m, please, do us a favor, with all our love, bring all your TFP trains and rolling stock/carrigaes to TPF2, and keep up the amazing work.

Great work! The deflector version should have a double chimney to represent the loco at one period in preservation more accurately. Some examples of the same design also ran in BR colours with a double chimney but no deflectors, but I don't know if FS was one because eventually the deflectors were added at the same time as the double chimney, and all but a small handful eventually got both. Before WW2, another member of the class was fitted experimentally with the Kylchap double exhaust system & they also tested out a few different smoke deflector designs. Although the LNER were keen on this 'racing exhaust' system as it improved performance greatly and saved fuel, it was extremely expensive pre-war for the patent license, (as much as 10% of the build cost of a new loco) so they built more engines instead. The patent expired during WW2 after which it was used for new pacific designs such as the Peppercorn A1 and some A2s. https://www.lner.info/locos/A/a1a3a10.php

More amazing work. I can see I'm going to have to break out the donations again! Great work mate! :D

Thanks

For the coding stuff? Just notepad. Mesh editing was done in Blender, and texture editing was done with Photoshop, but I hear GIMP's a good, free alternative.
Snowpiercer 13 Oct, 2019 @ 9:59pm
what software did you use create the mod?
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 13 Oct, 2019 @ 8:55pm
Go for it! I'm mostly using the vanilla textures (or the vanilla textures with very, VERY minor alterations) for this anyway, so if you want to take a stab at a reskin then go for it.
Snowpiercer 13 Oct, 2019 @ 8:52pm
or maybe you could give me the files and i could try myself?
Snowpiercer 13 Oct, 2019 @ 8:51pm
ok
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 13 Oct, 2019 @ 8:48pm
@Destroyer of Darkness: Honestly I hadn't considered it. Maybe? We'll see how bored I get. >.>
Snowpiercer 13 Oct, 2019 @ 7:36pm
Are you going to do a british rail and lner reskin?
awsamy93 13 Oct, 2019 @ 12:29pm

Just as a quick note, but I've avoided fiddling with the vanilla Flying Scotsman engine as much as possible in case it created any game-breaking incompatibilities with other mods, so it still retains the vanilla stats and whatnot and is pretty much otherwise untouched by this mod. However, this puts it at odds with the other versions of the A3 that I've added in this mod, so it's recommended not to use that vehicle anymore.

Also, as much as I've tried to avoid incompatibilities, some might arise, so please let me know if there are any hiccups and I'll address them ASAP. Thanks! :)
