Oh wow - BonBonB did a tutorial for your great Mod. Here it is:

Saving the problematic map as a new file in the map editor fixed the problem.
@ribera1945e; I can not answer if it is just you but...
I honestly doubt that this mod has to do with it.

The mod does the same as any terrain tool but on a larger scale.
It does not interfere with routing or traffic.

If I may suggest (in my experience):
Have you tried re-placing it?
Is it (accidentally) on a one way road and can they get anywhere?
Did you use other mods?
MoveIt; is it close enough to the road?
TrafficManager; are emergency vehicles allowed on that road?
Is it an asset? does it actually work?
There was a problem that the police car did not come out from the police station on the map worked with this mod. Is this just me?
@DarkMalady; your observations are correct!
It interpolates the height between the lowest and the highest point and multiplies it with itself.
Your lowest point would be 0*0=0 and your highest point would be 1*1=1.
The heights in between will change.
(I do admit that the description is 'a bit' misleading. Depths will get lower but heights will not actually get higher...they get lowered less)
I don't really understand how the Height^2 function works.

when I use it, the highest point and lowest point don't seem to change?
@wowogiengen;
Originally the mod was not intended for in game use but made it possible because of a request but never thought about autosave. Sorry for that.
(I don't use autosave. Actually, I hardly save at all. I enjoy building but almost never the result)
For now I'll put a warning and a 'not recommended' in the description.
Not totally sure if I can fix this for future victims but I'll try.

In Memoriam - The citizens of lost cities.
hello eelcobaas , it was in game, autosaving, and i did not notice the height change, because the brush was bigger than my screen. I only noticed some streets being deep under the terrain level, but then it was already too late.
@wowogiengen; My empathy for your loss :steamsad:.
Would you be so kind to help me with some info?
Did it happen in game or in editor?
Autosave or manual?
Any recall of the last moments before saving?
Bad mod, destroyed my whole map height levels upon save

Hello,
I am not a programmer and I wish to be. So, let it be and thank you for your answer.
If anyone could help here and programmer, it could be nice. :)))
Anyway, thanks.
@mjm92150; No, there is no xml file.
And to be honest, I don't even know how such would work.
(I said it before, I'm not that good at coding)
If you happen to know how; feel free to copy/use/steal my code to use as your own.
Hello,
Is there any xml file to put in my own language on GitHub ?
Then I can choose my language or other people who wants to translate in their own language.
Thanks for your reply and if is it possible, to gibe me the direct link for translation.
Thank you for doing that, I continue to use it and find ways to make maps even better.
There has been an update. It will now check regularly the menu position and correct it if needed.

I work with multiple monitors. If that was also the case in your situation, it might be a clue why the menu gets lost.
Thank you for replying, I really enjoy your mod. To be able to enhance height-maps creatively is invaluable to me. I thought it beneficial to mention it, I'm glad you don't mind.
My empathy for your struggle :steamsad:

I must admit; at this moment I haven't got a clue why or how it happened. Default is 50,50 and there is dedicated section of code to prevent it to go of screen if such is loaded. The saved position -1000,-1000 is the result from the menu being off screen when leaving the game.

For unknown reasons the menu has gone off screen before. that is why I included that section of code. But why it did not correct yours is puzzling me.
I will give it an extra layer of correction code before the save part...tomorrow.

offtopic/general;
I'm still working on other update promises. But I have a lot of interests and a short attention span.
Hi all, yesterday I faced a problem with the menu suddenly not showing up on screen. So, to find out what was happening I opened and closed dozens of maps, un-subbed to other mods I'd installed since TTT, un-subbed and re-subbed TTT. This took a while, it was a pain in the bum, and nothing worked.
Before writing on here, I searched my C drive, found the settings file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\TTTSettings.txt and found that the menu position was off the screen. Mine was like over "-1000" for both x and y. Just a heads up, I don't know how it got moved off the screen, but had I not looked I'd have thought it was broken by some other mod. It's now at 23,57. If it happens to anyone, those are my settings.

pseudo-Update:
I think the feature would be feasible,
but the base of the mod is not well suited for this implementation.
Due to weird coding, bad documentation and some personal inconveniences
this could/will take some time.

I'll get back (again) though not sure when.
Yes, you are right on the river side of it. But on the ocean side it would be fine. I was playing with a Fjord map with insane mountains and the normalize did an awesome job of bringing the mountains down to size and making a more playable map. But it lowered water level too etc. Was able to use the ADD feature to bring water level back up so there are work arounds. But it would be nice if I could tell the MOD to set a minimum point and have it not mess with anything below that point. Overall fantastic MOD, have spent countless hours doing by hand what this did in a few minutes.
I like the idea and will look into it.

But I suspect just the height limit will not be enough to get the results you expect
as rivers tend to decline.
I will do some tests and will get back with an update or a disappointment.
It would be nice if we could set a lower limit (water level) and have the mod not change anything at or below that level. That way we could take a map with a lots of mountains and 'squish' the mountains without changing the river systems etc.
No it is not posted but is does come with your subscription.
You should be able to view it before activating the mod if that soothes your worries.

Steam users will probably find it in:
'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\#\...'
I don't know where the other installs store them.

Disclaimer: I never really 'learned' to program. The code is functional but not pretty.
Evil Dave of Canada 2020
Is the source code posted for us paranoid people?

I really wanted this !! teacher!! I think you know what someone wants ... Thank you so much !!
When checked in content manager; By default to work only in editor.
You can change this in the option menu.
It only changes the height values of the terrain when used.
For the editor comparable to importing a height map.
I haven't found any conflicts yet but if others do; please tell!
How does this mod work, only should be used in the editor or is it always enabled when subscribed to it? (and checked in content manager)
If there could be any conflicts, before using it.
@benzoll. No doubt it would be possible. But it is not really the point of a 'Total' terrain tool and I have no intent for this mod to do so. But I will keep it in mind (for real).
Good mod for editor. :hardhat:
Would it be possible to select an area to go up or down or whatever option, and not the total map?
@Sentient_Worm. No it can not generate; it's only there to support your creative flow.

I knew there where other generation mods and it seemed redundant to add such features.
Recreating what they did would be a challenge on it's own and I have no plans for that now.

What I will give you is a random Perlin function.
"varying height alterations only less specific"
There has been an update.
Awesome! Thanks for the update. This'll be a fantastic tool for me now, thank you so much!
Can this generate full maps in editor?
The older map generation mods dont work or only generate a specific map with varying height alterations
@Mike. Yes, it is possible. There has been an update. Thanks for your interest!
I'd love to use this mod to edit my maps, but I actually do all of my editing in the regular game mode, not the map editor.

I have so many assets that if I try to load up the editor without disabling my mods and assets, my game just crashes.

Would it be possible to make a version of this that functions in the regular game mode?
Erik Oiseaux 2019
Love the instructions.. got a long chuckle reading it..
You're all very welcome! If there are suggestions for functions or options to improve it further please tell. I'm not very good in making visually pleasing mods but I can be quite persistent in finding mathematical solutions.
Hendrik aka Lucky Pants 2019
Thank you for your Mod. I played with it in the Map editor, and it works very good.
