@Mc_Pabl0 it should fully replace settlement skin, instead placing it atop original. Of course if i can find enought time to finish it... RL taking all my time(

@ebuyuran did you try to conquer Black Pyramid of Nagasn to check it? Cause it's only for that now. There are some staff to do, as CA decided not to do cultures options for some settlements and I have to check and rewrite it from 0.

when you are back, you could try modifying the new Dynamic settlement skins mod that was created so that it does the WH1 style. because the mod is supposed to make their own combined skins, and a lot of people want the WH1 and as vanilla as possible.

Hope you can figure this out. It's so annoying that they removed this feature after WH1, I never settle in regions that don't have the same texture as my faction anymore because of this, it just looks dumb having Lizardmen occupying Dark Elf settlements. I've used the Cultural Settlement skin mod you linked before but never liked the clipping either, so best of luck I'm excited to see if you get it working!

@Vandy but usually PFM marks empty rows, as mistakes... Hmm... Well, it doesn't matter, cause it was raw mod version. I have tried some other staff, but still without results.

Using PFM adds empty rows when you paste a bunch of data, empty rows 100% cause crashes on load up. Also yeah it's for sure an old version, they removed some buildings you reference

@Mr.Necrophile no. I suppose, it's pointless.

@Vandy I just copy tables from original game data.pack with no new rows. Empty rows don't affect at game crashes. Probably that happens because it's old version file.

Regarding locating the files and lines relevant to Skaven overwriting of settlement skins - have you tried asking CA?

A) your mod references some non-existent building levels in the db table. All of the Gaean Vale ones at the top of the file don't exist (wh2_main_special_city_gaean_vale_other_ruin)
B) the bottom of that table includes a bunch of empty rows

Both of those will cause crashes. Look up the Rusted Pack File Manager and use that instead

I know, that couple settlements change their skins, moreover we have overwrite system at scavens (they overwrite other settlements as ruins). I am trying to find this system in data files, but still have no idea where it is and how i can make same system for other races.

yea i noticed too that dwarf main city gets swapped for a greenskin city when destroyed by skaven? Seams like settlement swapping is still in the game but is messed up? :S

just two little things i found out (maybe it will help you)
1. karaz a karak is actually changing its skin when occupied by greenskins. its a real model swap.
2. If you conquer one of the wild orc camps north of Khemri as Settra, it will still have the orc skin. But if it gets razed by other factions like the bretonnians, it will become a Tomb King ruin and change its skin. (tomb kings have their own ruin skin). rebuilding it however will it make a orc camp again

Btw, you should take a look at the script which gives Mordheim its skin. as far as I know, CA added a new LUA script function to change the settlement skin.

How do vampirecoast's major settlements look like? Should i change it for simple vamp settlements? - No, vampire coast settlements look really cool, would be sad if they gets removed. I wanna spread them, too :3

How do greenskin's major settlements look like? As greenskin's minor or as ocupated dwarf's? - Look at Massif Orcal, it has the right skin. This is the settlement skin from WH1 for orc capitals.

What can I do wtih dwarf's major coast settlements? Cause there is spec texture in game, suitable only for Barak Varr, so if I change it, we'll have scared Barak Varr - The best solution would be using the default karak skin, it may not look perfect, but better than the barak varr skin, because barak varr's skin is only visible from one side, the default skin is visbile from all sides. Same for the orcs.

I am not an expert. But looks like in case with Barak Varr the only option is - clearly new model that would look nice in both of Barak Varr and randomly chosen coast settlement.

wow this would be the best and a must have mod if it worked, my biggest complaint about second game is no regional visual change on cities and battle maps when conquered. Thank you for trying to fix it

I did some more testing but it seems the current version is not working. Reading through the comments seems like this is also the case for everybody else.
However I still believe this is something which is moddable.

I also offer my help if you need some more people to test something.

@MrSmiley4321 Now I'm making hard tables comparison between first and second parts of game. When I find what's wrong with second part, I'll try to integrate system from first part. It's so much work for me and I don't know when I'll finish it.

when will the update come ? the test version does not work i play a dark elf campaign i cant stand that the city of arnheim is in dark elf territory yet it remains a high elf city after i take it
