@Joshua Norton- I'm waiting ( very patiently... ) for some kind of 'combat' update to the game, then I plan to do an overhaul on everything in my HomeWorld collection at the same time & rerelease them with various improvements. There is a new update due in about one week so we will see what new stuff we get...

i like the inverted gravity field concept. shame it cant work on missiles though. Perhaps there's some way to deflect bullets and/or missiles without taking damage? I heard that free-floating stone rocks from ejectors can deflect missiles
